Schools all over the world are feeling the pressures of the economy according to the Plymouth Evening Herald. Last week, a total of 700 books were removed from the shelves of Thornbury Primary in Estover, Plymouth in the UK because budget pressures meant it could no longer afford to remain a member of the city council’s school library service. The local WH Smith bookstore chipped in by donating 30 books and promising to push the chain’s national headquarters to try to come up with more. The store manager has even promised five copies of the new Harry Potter book when it is published next month.

Starting May 21st, we will launch our massive Book 5 project which includes ideas on how you can spread the joy of reading, literacy and the Harry Potter series. Stay Tuned.
