Well, now you know. PotterParties.com is open for business.

This site is an international database of parties celebrating the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. For the first time ever, fan sites from all over the HP fandom have come together to bring this service to you.

It was developed by the Floo Network team of sites, (which includes the Leaky Cauldron, the Harry Potter Lexicon,
Quick Quotes and the Hogwarts Galleries, and the Cauldron Shop) and in association with HPANA. Also, the first sponsors of this site include such HP powerhouse Web sites as Veritaserum,
Harry Potter Fan Zone,
DanRacliffe.com,
DanRadcliffe.co.uk and MuggleNet . The site is also open to additional affiliate relationships with other Potter fan sites.

So what is it? It will be a listing of EVERY Potter Party we can find so that wherever you are in the world, you can have a great time when the book comes out. It’s a chance for you to enter and look for book release events near you – a chance to find activities, costumes, decorations, recipes and more that will make your HP experience come alive – a chance to find the fans who will be where you’ll be when your favorite book is released. All the fan sites have come together to make sure all you fans can come together.

The site was put together from scratch by a team of fans who have been working tirelessly for months, with a content management system from Nick Poulden, the Floo’s programmer; information gathered by a team of fans led by editor Sue and reader Britta Peterson, and a design by John Noe, headed by beautiful art work by fandomer Marta. It is BY FAR the most ambitious project we’ve had in a long time.

The site will be continuously changing and developing as we get closer to the release of the book. Coming soon, from HPANA.com, is a search feature that will allow you to find a party based on ZIP code, a feature we’re very excited about.

The amount of work done here by all these people at all these sites is ENORMOUS – so we hope you’ll all appreciate how hard everyone’s working for the fans and look past how long this had to be drawn out because of circumstances outside our control. Thanks. 🙂

But it all depends on YOU – getting the word out, getting your favorite party listed, making sure your bookstores and your friends know about the site and how to use it. It depends on you telling us what YOU want to see there, and it depends on what your wishes for your special night are. It depends how you want to spend and celebrate the release of this book.

Well, what are you waiting for? Plan your Potter party!
