That’s pretty Cool! WOW, first post?

Avatar Image says:

Some good tracks on there.

Avatar Image says:

J Williams can create a great melody…but hoopers got variation…accordians and electric guitar? sweet.

Avatar Image says:

I love the “Dumbledore’s Army” theme!

Avatar Image says:

Wow! I am really impressed with it. So much better than Patrick Doyle’s GOF score. And those were only clips. This makes me much, much happier now! Can’t wait to hear the whole album in full.

Avatar Image says:

These tracks sound FANTASTIC. I have to say this is probably my favorite so far.

Avatar Image says:

I like it a lot. I prefer John Williams’ Dementor theme, but other than that it sounds very unique and well-done. I love Umbridge’s theme and the Possession theme.

Avatar Image says:

thank you, Sue! these tracks are amazing. my favorites are “The Ministry of Magic” and “The Hall of Prophecies” among a few others.

Avatar Image says:

It sounds nice. Certainly better than GoF’s score, perhaps not as good as Azkaban’s, but still refreshing and fun.

//o-o\\ The Walrus

Avatar Image says:

I’d say this is a pretty good score :) I can’t wait to see how they fit it all into the movie.

Avatar Image says:

MoM is really GREAT! It is how I image! Umbridge is not cool… I think that it will be more nasty! Dementors fulfill for this screen!

Avatar Image says:

Wow! I am impressed with even these small clips! This is sounding to be the best soundtrack of any of the HP movies!

Avatar Image says:

Wow, this is great! I can’t wait to see (hear, rather) how they actually implement these in the film!

Avatar Image says:

WOW! I only just heard the tidbit of Fireworks and I’m hooked! I’m going to go listen to the others! I’m probably goint to buy this album, it sounds amazing!!!

Avatar Image says:

I can not wait to hear “Fireworkks!” I love when they do somthing fun and cooky, like….the Knight Bus. I like that their using electric guitar, thats interesting.

Avatar Image says:

Those are some decent-sounding music, but I must say, none of those are in the same level as “Fawkes the Phoenix,” “Buckbeak’s Flight,” or “A Window to the Past.” I am a bit underwhelmed.

Avatar Image says:

Rememeber, nobody, you only heard a small bite of the tracks. I loved the Dementors in the underpass. Id be creeped out to if I felt that when they got near..shudders...

Avatar Image says:

kerri,

I understand. I appreciate your pointing it out. Since I have not seen the movie or even heard the full version of the score, I am in no position to comment on the score’s compatibility with the movie. And I did not do so in my previous post. My previous comment was all about what I have heard so far. And as I have said before, I am a bit underwhelmed.

Avatar Image says:

I wrote a long review on the forums… check it out: http://www.leakylounge.com/index.php?act=ST&f=51&t=23900&st=60#entry1260172

Avatar Image says:

spelt my name wrong on the last post… dcdubaya, like my initials, D C W

Avatar Image says:

i liked “Window to the Past”

Avatar Image says:

Wow, I thought it was great specially only for small clips! I cant wait to listen to it in its entirety and on the film! I was hoping to hear the accordion bits in one of the songs, as I had heard on the OotP website, but it wasnt in the clip… Also, I got chills on some of the songs and the Dementor song was nicely tied in with PoA’s dementor theme, and I would say, even creepier!

Avatar Image says:

‘And as I have said before, I am a bit underwhelmed.’

Well…as you say…you haven’t heard the full score, so I’m afraid you can’t have a judgement yet.

Avatar Image says:

Wow! I’m definitely going to buy the soundtrack now! I especially love the Darkness Takes Over and Possession themes

Avatar Image says:

I can’t wait to see it with the movie and to actually hear entire tracks. I liked what I heard, but I’m sure I’ll like it much much more once I can hear how it’s really supposed to sound. YAY! The score is my favorite part about the movies.

Avatar Image says:

Am I the only one that actually likes GoF the best? I love Patrick Doyle’s score. Listening to these clips this is my least favorite of the bunch so far. But I’m hoping that will change once i hear the whole album.

Avatar Image says:

Is it me or is the Death of Sirius the minor scale version (sadder version or more dramatic) of Fireworks? Listen because I think I’m going mad…

Avatar Image says:

Wow! I loved it! It sounds really quite different from the other movie soundtracks!

Avatar Image says:

No Becky…you’re right. They kind of sound like the same….however…”The Death of Sirius” is the best on this track. It’s so cool and when the choir pops up it’s absolutely perfect!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

its not working!!!:(

Avatar Image says:

It’s not working for me either. And I did the quicktime upgrade, and it still didn’t work. :-(

But I’ve heard the part that is on the WB official site, and I love that, so I’m very much looking forward to it.

Avatar Image says:

I would have bought this CD anyway, to add to my HP collection, but I really like the sound clips so my anticipation has increased. I’m just frustrated with Amazon UK because I can’t pre-order it yet!!

Avatar Image says:

Does anybody know how to make it work? I uograded and everything but it still doesnt work for me..

Avatar Image says:

No hpbruin, you are the only one that prefers GOF’s soundtrack. I thought Doyle’s music amateurish compared to Williams works (first challenge especially!). I am encouraged by the clips I have heard so far, but it will be very hard for this music to beat Prisoner of Azkaban.

Avatar Image says:

Really nice. Liked the dementors theme better than in azkaban. I do wonder how it will all sound in the film. Ah, it’s probable gonna be okay. By the way, could people please stop commenting on “nobody”. He’s not entitled to not like it, because he hasn’t heared the entire cd, but you are allowed to like, while you just heard 30 seconds? A bit hypocritical isn’t it.

Avatar Image says:

WOW now they have spellbound me.! totally going to buy this album too :D sounds really cool…very original with the electric guitar, but the tracks are very beautiful!

Avatar Image says:

Excellent! (use a Mr. Burns voice, please)

It all sounds very promising.

My expectations for this film are so unrealistically high now that I am certain to be disappointed when I see it!

Avatar Image says:

i like the ministry of magic and the flight of the order of the phoenix. not too sure about the others, but i think it might be good once we can hear the whole thing.

Avatar Image says:

It Is awesome isn’t it! Now I’m anticipating only for the OST to come out… From what we’ve heard, I think Hooper’s done a great job on this.

Avatar Image says:

ahh! not working! can anyone get it in a different format. Upgraded. Refreshing just makes it close.

Avatar Image says:

Love it. From the samples from the website to these album samples – I reckon this will be up there with PoA in my favourites. I especially love the Dumbledore’s army motif. Wow, now I can look forward to game, Movie, soundtrack and BOOOOOK. Is it my birthday or something…?

Avatar Image says:

I think the harmony is far too american. I preferred the Englishness of the other scores.

And electric guitares?! W T F? :(

Avatar Image says:

Wow… I really like the Possesion one! Its very good! Might buy this soundtrack! Oh! I love “The Death of Sirius”!!! It sounds AMAZING!

Avatar Image says:

I like the description for “The Kiss”

“Lush strings swell as glockenspiel and chimes gently provide backing textures. There is no distinct melody here, but the chord changes create an emotional and almost romantic vibe. It builds up into a large crescendo full of warmth, and then closes nice and satisfied.”

Thats hot.

And i’ve only read the description. Darn streaming sites. i’m dying to hear them

Avatar Image says:

And what would you describe as englishness? American harmony? what!? sounds like a blurred line to me… possibly I don’t know much about music. but I think that is being far too picky. You think of English people as not being so upbeat? I’m confused.

I know one thing though. Electric guitars FTW. It’s very Fred&George. Extremely them in fact. They are very rock and roll. With their dragon hide jackets and such sort. I thought that was the best bit actually. :S. Mix it with the visual of that huge firework chasing Umbridge and you have a clear winner.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, I love the score! Fireworks (indeed very Fred and George!!)and Sirius` Death are my favourites! And all the others are great, too!

Avatar Image says:

Umbridges theme is so perfect :P

Avatar Image says:

Ok, the electric guitar is a stroke of genious! I’m loving even these little extracts. This sounds like a fab score. :)

Avatar Image says:

Wow! These are amazing!!

Has anyone made a downloadable version of them all put together? I’d love to have it on my ipod XD

Avatar Image says:

Sounds great.

Avatar Image says:

loving Dementors in the underpass….made me go all tingly lol

Avatar Image says:

i like ‘the death of ** ’ and the ‘loved ones & leaving’...they are sooooo coool

Avatar Image says:

Loved lots of the tracks, but some of the snippets we heard didn’t match the description at all. I’m looking forward to hearing the glockenspiel in The Sacking of Trelawney, since we heard none of the melody, as far as I can tell.

Also, the first thing I’ll do when I get the soundtrack is rearrange it into chronological order. “More enjoyable listening experience”? The music tells a story; even if it sounds better to the ear, it makes no sense out of order!

Avatar Image says:

Thank you so much for the download links, Andrew! I didn’t think I was going to be able to get it to work, but I finally heard everything that way. The Dementors seen to have basically the same theme John Williams gave them (which I really like), and I even heard what sounded like the patronus light theme. The electric guitar is different, but I think it works! And for some reason, the sappy ending music always gets me, so I imagine the last track will be one of my faves. I agree with you, AmyC—putting them in order makes it more enjoyable!

Avatar Image says:

The Ministry of Magic= Les Miserables

hmm.

ONE DAY MOOOOOOOOORE!

Avatar Image says:

Of what I’ve heard (30 seconds is not that much to go on) I think I will like this ST, and it will fit in with the story … which is what it’s all about. Gred and Forge are SO Rock’n’roll!

My personal all-time fave ST is PoA because every single track was just brilliant. The first two will always have a place in my heart just because Williams is a master, and “Hedwig’s Theme” is, imho, the best leit-motif theme to come out of a film series since Mancini’s “Pink Panther.” I too, thought Pat Doyle’s GoF soundtrack was an absolute standout, my second favourite of the series. I will reserve final judgement on Hooper’s OotP ST until I can hear the music both in context, and complete.

I think it unfair to put other folks down in here because they have a preference for one ST over the other. As Lucius said in the CoS film “play nicely!”

Avatar Image says:

Becky- you are totally right about those two. that’s so awesome, and fitting I guess.

Avatar Image says:

I can’t get it to work! I’ve already tried the download link as well, I copy-pasted it in my browser… this reaaaaally sucks.

Avatar Image says:

“the Death of Sirius” is certainly the most impressive, but the ones I like are those with the Umbridge theme in it. With that you see Imelda Staunton move, smile and spead poison.

btw don’t you all agree it becomes high-time someone starts working on HARRRY POTTER, THE OPERA.

Avatar Image says:

I loved all of them! My first intro to HP was the GOF movie and so this is the first time I am seeing all this excitement that goes on before a release. This is fun! As each song was playing I could see my visions from each point in the book to go with the track. To me that is a good sign that this movie is going to be the best yet!

Avatar Image says:

Umbridge’s Theme – FAB! =D I can imagine her waddling around to that!

And I really like The Ministry Of Magic.

Corr—-I think this is the best soundtrack out of the 5 so far.

Best Soundtrack. Best Book. Best Film.

VERY excited =P

Avatar Image says:

“The Ministry of Magic= Les Miserables” Ditto, ditto, and double ditto! That was the first thing I thought when I heard it. I’m loving this soundtrack so far! I really liked the music for GoF, and it looks like OotP will great as well.

Avatar Image says:

“Electric guitars FTW.”

IAWTC! =D

Love, love, LOVE IT!

Avatar Image says:

This sounds absolutly amazing! I’m going to purchase the soundtrack as soon as it is offically released! I can’t wait for it!

Avatar Image says:

It’s good that you can hear Williams’ Dementors sound in the new track, same character, same motif. I LOVE the track “Posession,” it is just beautiful.

I’m slightly disappointed that none of the tracks have those “magical” sounds that add a bit of whimsy to all the movies, I’d like to hear more of the stuff like GOF’s “Rita Skeeter”...I know this film isn’t about magic and fairy dust really, but I’d still like to hear some of the magic =/

Avatar Image says:

Very nice to have this. Lessens the agony of waiting.

It would be hard to match the genius of Williams’ “Azkaban”, but this comes close at times. “Ministry of Magic” has a kind of tainted grandeur which perfectly captures the complexity of the book. “Possession”, “Kiss” & “Trelawney’s Sacking” are surprisingly and satisfyingly moody. Thank heavens they’re putting some emotion into these films. Looking forward to this one.

Avatar Image says:

I have to be honest here…. Who can do a better HP soundtrack?

1. J Williams 2. P Doyle 3. N Hooper of course*

OR!!!
Avatar Image says:

Wow. I already expected for this soundtrack to be gorgeous, considering the tradition of exceptional music that has filled all of the other soundtracks so far. Still, nothing prepared me for these clips, which far surpassed my expectations and which were just impressive. This soundtrack seems highly evocative and emotional, qualities that work well with this installment. I will reserve judgment until I hear the whole thing, but at the moment I have to admit that I am convinced that Mr. Hooper has created a more than worthy musical masterpiece to add to an already beautifully euphonious series. I especially like the fact that much of the music feels like it belongs in the PoA – a very reassuring sign.

Avatar Image says:

OMG ITS NOT WORKING FOR ME!! Can someone plz repost them?

Avatar Image says:

Hmmmm…. I still wish John Williams was doing the score, but moving on…!!! :P

This soundtrack is probably going to be one of those that eventually ‘grows’ on me.

The tracks that really stood out for me were: ~ Possession ~ The Death of Sirius ~ The Ministry of Magic

The ‘Possession’ track sounded a lot like ‘Adagio for Strings.’ Haha.

Anyway! I’m buying the soundtrack. :)

Avatar Image says:

I started crying just listening to the Death of Sirius….I’m gunna be a complete wreck at the actual movie.

Avatar Image says:

Don’t worry, nobody, I’m underwhelmed as well. From the clips, it kind of sounds like Doyle’s GoF score (of which I am not very fond), although I will admit that Hooper seems to have used more “magical” orchestrations than did Doyle—the fluttering woodwinds, glockenspiel, and choir. I guess we’ll just have to see. I still wish Williams could have stayed with the entire franchise. I would have loved to see his themes grow and darken along with the series. Ah, well.

Avatar Image says:

Now that’s going to be one hell of a soundtrack! It gave me chills listening to those small previews, and I can’t wait to listen to them in the movie.

I like ‘Death of Sirius’ and ‘The Sirius Deception’ the most. :D

Avatar Image says:

I still can’t get it to work for me, the sound is there, but really choppy. I’ll try it out when I go to the library and see how it sounds on a computer there. I have really liked what I’ve heard so far and I can’t wait to hear the rest! Also I disagree with those who feel that Doyle’s soundtrack was weak, I personally loved it and felt it was the strongest overall score so far. There are elements from each of Williams soundtracks that I loved, but Doyle’s was the first where I thought it felt complete. Just my thoughts.

Avatar Image says:

wow! awesome tracks… as expected the possession is beautifully done, and as NOT expected Trelawney’s sacking is actually very emotional and sad…lol..

yes that fireworks and death of sirius i think have strings playing the major and minor of the same key….cause they have major overlap in some notes.

cool soundtrack tho..i LOVE the variation. i mean electric guitars and choir etc etc… I HEART IT.

Avatar Image says:

God! I cant even hear it! It’s still too full of people! I’ve been trying all day to hear ANY of them but the server is too busy so I cant hear any.

I just want to listen. This sucks! >:(

Avatar Image says:

I just noticed something great in the “Dementors in the Underpass” track. Well in the beginning of the track, it sounds like a cue by John Williams for Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. It’s call “Palpatine’s Teaching” It also has the deep voices. Well, I think that’s great. I think Nickolas Hooper did the right thing doing that. Meaning, a lot of time composers will repeat a little bit of something, in another film. That’s what Hooper did, so it would seem the same.

Also, in the same track. I noticed the music was very similar. I thought about it for one minute, and it was in my favorite tv-spot of “Order of the Phoenix”!!! It’s more of this track, in tv-spot #5. It has Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy). Where he’s tempting Harry. I think. It’s the music for it!! I absolutely love the music for that, and now I know it’s on the score soundtrack. Yay.

Avatar Image says:

I quite like it, actually. The DA music is wonderful and The Kiss is fantastic! Can’t wait!

Avatar Image says:

I’m ready for Williams to come back…sorry…I’ve been a big fan since the Star Wars days…plus I feel he put more into it then Hooper…

Avatar Image says:

so. after reading many of these posts i listened to MoM…. Im not going to lie. I had to double check to see i wasn’t playing “who am I” from Les Mis. Granted. it is a 30 sec. clip, but seriously we just basically heard the chord progression for the whole time. I liked alot of the clips I listened to, but that one seemed like we maybe didn’t get the best part for a clip. Im still hopeful though

Avatar Image says:

MRLongbottom said – “I can’t get it to work! I’ve already tried the download link as well, I copy-pasted it in my browser… this reaaaaally sucks.”

What happens when you copy the links in your browser ? With me, the page takes a long time to load, but then the track plays in Quicktime. Also try copying the links in a download manager program (like FDM, DAP,..) to download them, not in your browser. If you don’t have a download manager, you should get one for free anyway, they come in useful. I use Free Download Manager (FDM) and I am happy with it.

Avatar Image says:

Best soundtrack yet!

Avatar Image says:

It’s still not working!

What I do is click the track, then a small window appears. after that, I click on “CLICK TO PLAY” and then a segment of the quicktime logo appears and never goes away. I could let it sit there for hours and it would do more than that. The site must be overloaded, and the server must be not allowing people to hear it, and I stil havent heard one second of any track!

This is so unfair!

Avatar Image says:

I’ve tried it with Free Download Manager, Andrew, and it didn’t work.

Avatar Image says:

I dont know what to do!! =(

Avatar Image says:

it would be nice if someone put it in mp3 format and give out the site address so that we can download. it is easy that way.

Avatar Image says:

I agree, Azkaban was Williams’ best so far, and Doyle alas couldn’t match. But Williams had the nasty tendency to overwork his music, and it seemed he literally wanted to cover every second with an emotion illustrated by his music. It was so much intrusive, especially in the first two movies, that it irritated me a lot. He did this on other films too, like ET. Yet he was great in his themes! I liked especially the medieval atmosphere of Azkaban. I hope Hooper hasn’t made the same mistake of putting in too much music, but the clips sound very good and refreshing. Sometimes, like in Umbridge’s theme, a bit of humour too. Good work, I should say on first glance. My compliments!

Avatar Image says:

WOW still not working! Its working for everyone BUT me! =_(

Avatar Image says:

lol NOW its working! Haha

Avatar Image says:

Well, I finally got to listen, after I took someone’s advice (thank you, btw) about a download manager. Otherwise, it just wouldn’t.

I think it sounds awesome-some of those clips gave me chills. I’ve always liked Williams’s scores, but I liked Doyle’s as well. In fact, I listen to that more often than the first three. But I think I’m really going to like this one by Hooper-I could just picture the scene by listening to the music, and it gave me a hint of what promises to be the best HP movie yet.

Pat

Avatar Image says:

Erm, not sure why all that is crossed out in my post-I certainly didn’t mean to do that. I suspect that I must have bumped something somewhere. So disregard all the line-throughs-I meant to say what’s written beneath them.

Odd, though, eh?

Pat

Avatar Image says:

Every time I listen to the Possession theme I start tearing up. It is going to be amazing, I can’t wait!!!
