In a press release, US Harry Potter publishers Scholastic announced the seven lucky US fans that have won a three day/night trip to London to attend the midnight reading and signing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 21st. With more than 40,000 entries submitted, these seven, along with the winners chosen by Bloomsbury earlier this week, will be among the 1700 fans to have their book signed on the night of the release at the “J.K. Rowling and the Moonlight Signing.” They will also be part of the 500 fans to hear our favorite author read from Deathly Hallows prior to the signing as well.

Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs said in the release:

“We are thrilled to be sending seven lucky U.S. fans to London to celebrate the release of the seventh and final Harry Potter book with J.K. Rowling… Just like millions of other fans in the U.S. and around the world, our sweepstakes winners have been inspired and touched by Rowling’s genius work, and this is sure to be an unforgettable experience.”

As with the winners for the Bloomsbury contest, if you are one of Scholastic chosen ones, be sure to drop us an owl at staff@the-leaky-cauldron.org to tell us your story. Congratulations to all the lucky fans who won!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published July 21st.

Thanks to everyone who mailed!

My family and I are so lucky!

We’ve won tickets (4, count ‘em, 4) with the coveted 10pm time slot for the Moonlight signing and reading.

I couldn’t believe it when I received Bloomsbury’s email – so much so I emailed them back to make sure it wasn’t a hoax. We will be in Wales at the time on our summer holiday so we’re taking the train back to London especially for the event – who wouldn’t!

While a world-wide phenomena, HP is still a quintessentially English product. The Natural Science Museum is an excellent ‘old English’ venue. Meaning no disrepect, I’m glad there was never a thought of moving the launch event to a larger market – money and size isn’t everything! Still, I really feel for the US fans and was pleased that Scholastic was offering a special prize draw of their own to come to what I believe is the literary event of the century (so far, anyway). Congratulations to the lucky group and I’ll see you in the reading room at midnight.

Congrats to all the winners! Really happy for you! Hope I win two tickets to the NY reading. And to the people who say they ‘don’t care’! How very rude of you! You need to be kind to our fellow family Potter fans. Seems like you aren’t really one, you would not have said that. Don’t post, if you don’t. Many of us want to hear there side. Leaky asked them of it. Congrats to all the winners!

Congrats to those who were lucky enough to get tickets!!!!!! I agree, it is definitely the literary event of the century! And to the rude poster who says that “nobody cares”: speak for yourself and not for the rest of the group because I (along with other readers, it seems) actually care to know about our lucky fellow Potter fans! Congrats to the lucky few! I’m personally very happy on your behalf! Enjoy it for the rest of us! =)

Yes, I’d be interested to know who the winners were! I presume they’ve all already been contacted?

Congrats to anyone who won!

I’m disappointed I didn’t get it, but I’m happy for those who did. It’s going to be a great experience. I only hope that the people who win are people who will truly appreciate the experience for what it is.

Has anybody said if they’ve won the Scholastic contest yet? Do you know if they contact you by e-mail or mail or phone? I’m still waiting nervously in case I still have a chance! Congratulations to those who have won, that’s so exciting! :)
