Emma Watson has posted a new blog entry on her official website, where the actress gives her thoughts and reactions having now finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Emma, who portrays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, gives (spoilers) comments about the fate of her character and more in book seven.

Emma also thanks the many fans who turned up to show their support at the various premieres of theHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, in particular thanking those who stood in that horrible rainy weather at the London premiere. To read this entry (again spoiler warning for “Deathly Hallows”) click here.

Thanks Roberto!

yess! I have been wondering what the trio have thought about the book!

Avatar Image says:

All I get when I go to that page is the word “Undefined” three times (I’m guessing those would be links). Do you have to register? How do you see the updates?

I’ve also been wondering what each of the actors thinks of thier character in DH. I was looking forward to reading this, but it aint workin’ for me.

Avatar Image says:

Beth, if you just go to EWO.com and then click the link at the bottom for “e.m.s” it should work. I don’t think you have to be logged in or anything.

Avatar Image says:

Sounds like her reaction to the book was pretty much the same as mine! I’m still in awe of how great it was and I’ve read it twice now.

Avatar Image says:

I have to say that Emma seems pretty happy not only to live… but to get married and “have babies” with Ron. I think that she had hopes of that for her character. And I have to agree I think that it’s great that the trio lives… I was a little nervous when Harry was walking into the forest, but now we know that they grew up, married their “true” loves (Harry/Ginny and Hermione/Ron) and had children and basicly had a peaceful happy life. I mean with what these kids have been threw for the past seven years I think that they needed that peace for the rest of their lives… How great!!

Avatar Image says:

That website is brilliant, I’m so glad it was put together so professionaly, has everything covered and keeps her personal info SECURE.

I can only hope my own kids will be so conscientious—glad I have a role model for them now :)

The “plant” is amazing too, it’s Monty Python-Victorian-psychedelic-Beatlesque. :D

Avatar Image says:

Cool!I can’t wait to hear Rupert’s thoughts on the book! TO be honest, I want to hear all of the stars’ (those who have read it, at least) opinions on the book. I know that Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynnch, and Natalia Tena probably have. Natalia wanted Tonks to kill Bellatrix, but JKR confirmed in the webchat that Bellatrix killed Tonks. What a bummer, lol.

Avatar Image says:

I use firefox normally, and I also only had “undefined undefined undefined” in place of the blog. I tried using safari and then it worked. Perhaps others who are having trouble reading this could try the same.

Avatar Image says:

LOL she’s so cute Woop Woop!! But I think that’s how all of us feel hehe. I just love that she had said in a couple interview that she wanted Hermione to grow up and use her brains and be married to Ron and have beautiful redheaded babies. And that’s exactly what happend lol

Avatar Image says:

My favorite part is the following: “Ron and Hermione had babies! woop woop!”

This makes me think she’s kinda awesome now. :)

Avatar Image says:

so now we know what dan and emma thought… but i wonder what rupert thought of DH?

im glad she liked it….

<3padfootrocksmysocks

Avatar Image says:

It won’t let me read the blog. Do you have to register? If so, can someone just tell me what she said? LOL

Avatar Image says:

I’m glad one of them has cried. But I guess trying to keep the macho feelings alive the Dan and Rupert wouldn’t have cried. Cheers Emma!!!

Avatar Image says:

I can’t access it. Can someone cut and paste? TIA!

Avatar Image says:

It will not let me read but two or three words ,it cuts off everything else. I cannot find what she said anywhere on there. What does she say????? Do you have to be registered to read it? looks like it.

Avatar Image says:

I loved her reaction to DH. How cute is she?

Avatar Image says:

“woop woop” indeed! :D

Avatar Image says:

It can’t be cut and pasted, but maybe you all are missing the little bar that would act as the scroll bar? Look to the right of the text, right towards the end of Emma’s left eye, and there’s a white bar there. You should be able to move that up and down. Best of luck! :)

Avatar Image says:

omg thats cool! but i found a mistake in the book! ron gives harry the sneakascope not hermione…

Avatar Image says:

Just a few more reason to love Emma!!!

And to Alexa…Ron gave Harry the first Sneakoscope in POA, but at the beginning of DH Harry finds it broken in his trunk. So, Hermione gives him a new one for his 17th birthday.

Avatar Image says:

HEY I cant seem to find Emm’a comment on HPOOtp I clicked on the link from leaky artical and it brings up Emma’s offical web site but nothing on her opinion on the Deathly Hallows????

Avatar Image says:

It was great to hear from Emma about DH. Dobby’s death made me cry as well. I thought it was the saddest part of the book.

Look forward to hearing from Dan and Rupert as well.

I agree with Remus Lonno about Emma’s official web site. GREAT MOVE Emma!!!

Avatar Image says:

What a cute little blog. Sounds like she is one tired young lady after her travels. I am glad she liked the book too. My feelings echo hers. I was so glad Ron came back and that they finally got together. Hermione definitely completes Ron and vice versa. It is neat that she was excited they had babies. What an adorable young lady she is.

Avatar Image says:

I found one… at the beginning of the chapter after Ron leaves (Godric’s Hollow, I think), Ron’s empty bed looks like a corpse to Harry… then he keeps his eyes averted from Ron. But he’s not there!

Avatar Image says:

I love the book rite up to the end but the last few pages were a let down i thought jk was going to write a chapter on what happens to every one theres only neville who as any closure yeah it says ron got it together with hermione and harry with ginny but wot happened to hagred, gawp, george, billy, fleu, and the rest of the lovley weasleys i`v spent years getting to know and love these characters and it ended with harry touch his scare and it hadnt hurt in 19 yrs the end!!!!!!??? come jk you can`t finish the best thing ever written like that!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I go to her site, click on EMS,,, nothing!!!! Just says click onto it,, doesn’t go any further as to what she said.. so how else are you all getting it?

Avatar Image says:

Hey, y’all are so fast.. thanks!!

Avatar Image says:

In one of the many interviews JK has given, she explained that she did write a whole lot for the epilogue and she didn’t like it that way, because it seemed like she was trying to cram everything she could on those last pages, so she went for a ‘vague’ feeling, like in a haze or some such and just gave away tidbits. If she’s going to do the encyclopedia thing, I’m pretty sure that’ll fill us up, except for the critically obsessive (of which there are many).

Emma is very cool in my book and I just love that eyes-semiclosed/sideways-smirk thing she does (she’s doing it in the background picture). I’m a guy and I didn’t cry at any of the deaths, but I will admit getting misty eyed at the forest scene (which is a very powerful scene, specially if you’ve lost loved ones in real life).

I’m glad Emma liked the book. She’ll get to smooch with both of her co-stars and cry a few times (in fact, Hermione cried a lot in DH) but the role is greater than ever, since most of the movie is just the three of them (two of them for a while) and we only get to see the Hogwarts crowd at the very end.

Avatar Image says:

“Woop woop!” Haha how adorable! Well, we’ve heard Dan and Emma’s thoughts, I can’t wait to hear from the rest of them. Evanna’s so vocal, I’m surprised she hasn’t spoken up yet.

Avatar Image says:

Your right El Caz, I never though of that, it’ll just be the three of them for most of the film! Anyway, she didn’t say as much about DH as I would have liked, for some reason I wanted her to mention Snape (the bravest and maybe most skilled wizard in the series) but glad to know she enjoyed it!

Avatar Image says:

halfbloodprince, I think the bravest is Harry and the most skilled is Dumbledore or Voldemort. I have the feeling Jo would agree with this. Also Jo said Harry considers Snape is an hero, because Harry is very generous and he even forget how Snape hated him all this time without a good reason at all. So he is only half an hero. He has good things, but also he has very nasty things too.

Avatar Image says:

I loved this book and it was awsome at the end how it said 19 years from now and Harry and Ginny were married and so were Hermione and Ron!:)

Avatar Image says:

Even though this last book was awsome I still have to say that my favorite is the 4th.

Avatar Image says:

I’m having problems with the site. I get a nice picture of her, but that’s it.

Avatar Image says:

Don’t forget Hagrid. I’d say that Harry, Hagrid, Snape, and Dumbledore are the bravest characters(not necessarily in this order). Kingsley Shacklebolt and Mad-Eye were brave, too, but they’re not as big of characters. But Hagrid jumped off of his motorbike at a Death Eater and fought him to keep Harry safe. If that’s not brave, then I don’t know what is.

Avatar Image says:

hey you just have to scroll down at first i didnt get it either

Avatar Image says:

deathly hallows was the most awesome book ever! Dobby;s death was the worst part. It made me cry.

Avatar Image says:

It’s funny, I can see Emma getting to page 502 and cheering. then realising she’s probably going to have to act out that scene.

I wonder how she felt about the Horcrux scene as well.

Avatar Image says:

haha yep. if they stick to the book emma’ll be making out with dan and rupert in this one. bet she didn’t see that coming! :o)

Avatar Image says:

I’m glad she liked it. But my favorite part of the blog was : “Ron and Hermione had babies! woop woop!” Thats exactly what I said! lol

Avatar Image says:

omg!!! i thought that this was the best book of all of them!! i was pretty convinced that harry was going to die….but the end was better then i could have pictured it. and the person who stole the book before it came out should be SHOT!!! i give it a two thumbs up

Avatar Image says:

i agree with that rachel person 100%. I worst part for me was freds death it made me cry :(

Avatar Image says:

So far Dan and Emma are really happy with it. Well, of course they are, I mean, they live!!! Dan gets the best of both worlds by having a death scene and living a life beyond Hogwarts.

I wonder how their going to be aged ninteen years for the seventh film. Harry and Ron have facial hair? Hmm, I cant wait.

Avatar Image says:

Hehe, I thought the epilogue might not make it into the movie, but now that you mention it, yes, it’d be fun seeing Daniel Radcliffe playing a 36 year old. Still think they’ll cut it though.

Avatar Image says:

I LOVE EMMA!

Avatar Image says:

Yeah i thought it rocked Ron finally gets Hermione Bet ya cant wait for that sceen can ya Rupert?!

Avatar Image says:

SPOILERS for those who can’t access the site…Emma also mentions becoming tearful at Dobby’s death as well as at other moments while reading the book (which she says she couldn’t put down), and she says that overall it was a great book.

She was very thankful for the great reception she got in Paris, LA and New York following the OoTP premieres, and she gave a special thanks to all those who attended the London premiere especially because of the awful weather. She sounds as though she’s enjoying her rest and her holidays. Also on the site are early pics of her (and one of her, Rupert and Dan in around 2000). I think all these pics have been taken by her family members.

Avatar Image says:

i cant get it :( the scroll bar doesn’t work for me

Avatar Image says:

I understand that all the other characters were immensely brave too but Harry himself says that Snape is the bravest person he knew

Avatar Image says:

I guess Emma is the bravest character … its sad that she gets married to ron….

Avatar Image says:

Hey guys, sorry to be a bit O.T., but PotterCast 113 is now up on the iTunes feed!!!! Not sure why noone’s posted about it though.

Avatar Image says:

i dont think they will cut the epilouge thye would have to give the movie some kind of long term ending to let everone know they all lived long happy lives

Avatar Image says:

No one really mentions when Hermione is getting tortured at Malfoy Manor and Ron is calling out for her. I thought Emma would have commented on it. I was just listening to the audio book and it was sad to hear the terror in Ron’s voice as he listened to Hermione being hurt and he could not get to her. Jim Dale does a great job acting out the books and not just reading them. I hope they give Rupert and Emma the opportunity to act out these scenes in the movie.

Avatar Image says:

I know this is a bit ot but has anyone seen the pictures of dan for his roll in “my boy jack” he looks like hitler

Avatar Image says:

I think they will cut the epilogue out of the film, not really neccasary

Avatar Image says:

Where is the blog, I can’t seem to find it at all. I go onto e.m.s on her website, but all there is, is undefined written three times. The scroll thingthat goes from let to right doesn’t work either. can’t anyone post it?????

Avatar Image says:

Dobby’s death was the saddest. It’s not that he was my favorite character (although I really did like the little guy), it’s just the way he died. He died helping Harry Potter one last time. I just HATE Bellatrix. I mean, she’s hot and all, but she’s pure evil. First, torturing Neville’s parents, then causing Sirius to fall into the veil, then torturing Hermione, and then throwing a knife at Dobby. I’m glad that Mrs. Weasley killed her, =).

It’s time for some American magic….

Check out my new novel, The Dumari Chronicles: Year One, at Amazon.com.

Thanks!

Avatar Image says:

“haha yep. if they stick to the book emma’ll be making out with dan and rupert in this one. bet she didn’t see that coming! :o)”

Ummm I’m sorry but when do Harry and Hermione make out in the book? I’m pretty sure I would have remembered that one.

Avatar Image says:

What a bloody awful site – the affected handwritten-type font is so difficult to read I didn’t bother and it took FOREVER to load. Sorry Emma (Eyebrows) Watson, can’t be bothered to stick around and read what you thought.

Avatar Image says:

Gee Kate, sounds like you’re having a bloody awful day.

Avatar Image says:

hwa, Riddle-Harry and Riddle-Hermione make out when they come out of the locket. And Kate, what is your problem with Emma? She’s a great girl, if you don’t like her acting you’ll just have to accept the fact that she’s the one playing her for the last two films too. She might not be the best actress to play Hermione but she got the part and, to me, plays it well even though there’s not much screen time for Hermione. She got it when she was 10 years old and has kept at it. Rock on, Em’s. Rupert’s not my book-Ron either but you don’t see me bashing him and his acting around, do you? Oh and I too cried a lot reading Deathly Hallows.

Avatar Image says:

Kate, you ought to leave Emma alone. She is awesome (and she can draw really well to). While I do think that she is currently the weakest performer out of the trio, I certainly don’t think she’s a bad actress. And I wish that people would stop crapping in their pants about Emma’s eyebrows. Seriously, I never noticed how much they moved until people mentioned them. Seriously, what kind of person pays so much attention to eyebrows during a film?

Avatar Image says:

For anyone who couldn’t view her post, don’t use AOL, try using internet explorer, you can view her post using that, it worked for me anyway.

Avatar Image says:

Wow, there really must be a dearth of news if we’re feeding eyebrows to the trolls. Most folks will be caught up reading and rereading, I guess.

So… anyone got any funny DH stories? I do…

Towards the end, when Voldy makes his speeches, I tried to imagine him speaking with Ralph Fiennes’s voice, but whenever I did that, I’d see Victor the hunter from Wallace And Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

I’m not sure why, but my brain automatically switched to the voice of the monster from the nicotine gum commercials…

Avatar Image says:

i am agree

Avatar Image says:

Yay for Emma’s comments and yay for Ron and Hermione finally getting together!! A wonderful ending to an amazing series.

Avatar Image says:

I forgot about people commenting on Emmas eyebrows! They did that a lot on mugglenet when GOF came out but I hadn’t really noticed until I read the comments!

Avatar Image says:

Lonno, we’ll have to get used to it. Soon, book news will trickle down to whatever JK’s writing (she’s resting now) and they’re just on the pre-production stages of the next movie (the least news worthy stage). I foresee a big, news empty spot ahead. I guess it’s because of both events (book and movie) coming out at almost the same time.

Avatar Image says:

hwa wrote: “Ummm I’m sorry but when do Harry and Hermione make out in the book? I’m pretty sure I would have remembered that one.”

Right before Ron destroys the locket, he sees a brief (Voldemort conjured) image of a fake Harry and Hermione entwined in an embrace kissing. Voldemort is using it to turn him against Harry and prevent him from destroying the horcrux. Of course, it doesn’t work. Ron overcomes his insecurities and remains loyal, just like Ron fans always knew he would. ;)

Avatar Image says:

Cathy, I thought that scene was very dramatic too…a real test of Ron’s loyalty to Harry.

There are so many wonderful things about DH. I could go on and on, but I’ll refrain. I was especially HAPPY to see the return of Ron’s humor. I fell in love with him when I read Sorcerer’s Stone because he was so funny (even though his jokes were often at Hermione’s expense). But I thought he lost much of his wit in Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince – understandable because of his feelings for Hermione and having no idea how to deal with them. But he was “back” in DH and it made me very happy.

One of my favorite moments in DH is when Harry notices that Ron is paying Hermione a lot of compliments. JKR writes “Harry turned away, smiling to himself. He had a funny notion that he would find a chapter on compliments when he found time to peruse his copy of Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches…”. I can just see Ron using this book to impress Hermione. It brought a big smile to my face!

Avatar Image says:

Hehe, my point is that there is newsworthy stuff out there, but that people are preoccupied. And rightly so.

Avatar Image says:

Ron is my favorite out of the trio. Sure, he can be a pain in the butt, but he’s my favorite. For one thing, he has red hair. For another thing, he reminds me a lot of myself. Out of my friends, I tend to be the one who makes the jokes/sarcastic remarks. I can also be unreasonable like Ron. I also really love sweets. Heck, even Rupert Grint reminds me of myself. I have a quiet, calm, mysterious side as well, like him, and sometimes I tend to be the least talkative person in a group. It’s freaky how much I have in common with both Ron and Rupert, lol.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, come on! What’s going on? I figured there’d be a decrease in traffic once DH came out and maybe some of Leaky’s staff at some point would feel their commitment to HP fulfilled, but reading your sentence like that makes me think all sorts of things and I have a wild imagination.

Avatar Image says:

there hasnt been any new news in DAYS!!!! ahhh!

so im gonna respond to this again.

emma is so cute.

anyone know if rupert’s read DH yet?

<3padfootrocksmysocks

Avatar Image says:

Well isn’t Jo doing a book tour in the U.S. sometime in october…there’ll be news then. but I’m going crazy here, I’ve been to Leaky 4 times already today and the headline’s the same!

Avatar Image says:

hey on emma’s site it wont let me scroll down or anything so i cant really read the stuff on there

Avatar Image says:

Does anybody ever ask her why her hair in the movie is nothing like Hermione’s? I’d like to have an answer for that…

Avatar Image says:

Nah, it has nothing to do with the WB. There’s news out about December Boys and that’s under the WB umbrella too. It’s the jealous fans of “other actors” who complain when their guy isn’t given magazine/editorial/film/awards etc. If their people ever get a non Potter gig, I expect there not to be any news posted on it here. Did they mention Emma’s new gig as the voice on that cartoon? If they did, they should start posting about Dan’s stuff (Lord knows there’s a lot) and this site has gone downhill since the book has come out.

Avatar Image says:

woop woop! lolz yay emma!!

Avatar Image says:

Hwa it was when ron killed the horcrux. so i guess you just didn’t remember it.

Avatar Image says:

The site uses some type of software that has to be downloaded and can be a bit temperamental to install, that’s why some people can’t access it.

So TLC has purged this board and taken away some of the comments…quite randomly it seems because they’ve left some of the spiteful ones on here. What was the point of the purge then?

Avatar Image says:

Is that all Emma can say about the last book?I thought she’d make some profound comment. Isn’t she supposed to be the most intelligent of the trio? Oh well, at least she has read the book. The others probably have not even bought one except for Dan who finished it in two days.

Avatar Image says:

COMMENTING ON… Don’t forget Hagrid.

Posted by Dumblemort on August 01, 2007 @ 08:43 PM

.. i think all the characters were more than brave… many might not have been as big as others but they still all risked their lives for the sake of harry in my opinion they only people who werent brave were the malfoys and everyone that supported voldemort

Avatar Image says:

i also want to add that i think emma has one of the bigger parts in this last book shes [hermione] completly a more amazing character as shes grown throughout the series and really helped harry so much

10/10 stars!
