hahaha, why the heck are Ron and Hermione on broomsticks? They should be Thestrals, if anything!

    Avatar Image says:

    Wow! That’s awesome!

    Avatar Image says:

The covers look awesome! But I like the single disk front cover better…aren’t the covers usually the same for both?

    Avatar Image says:

harrry potter is the best movie nd all actor’s is the best people… good luck to harry potter…

    Avatar Image says:

Uh… what the heck? wanders off in confusion

    Avatar Image says:

chocolateisnotforbreakfast I said the same thing when I saw the photo. Not only are Ron and Herminone on brooms but look closer and you can see Neville, Luna and a little red speck that must be Ginny also on brooms. Hello, the six were never on brooms WB. Sometimes I wonder if they think we are all stupid.

    Avatar Image says:

Hah! Someone posted the back cover of the single disc edition on a LiveJournal community a few days ago and I thought it was a joke, since it pretty much looks like they just PhotoShopped Hermione, Ron, Luna and Neville’s heads on members of the Order during the scene when they’re taking Harry away from Privet Drive….but I guess it’s actually real. Shame, since I guarantee 95% of Harry Potter fans are going to look at that and go “wait a minute….”

Oh well, I’m not going to get the single disc version anyway :P

    Avatar Image says:

Did you all notice that the Special Edition cover and the normal cover are just photo-shopped (poorly I may add) images from the posters that were hanging at the LA Premiere?

Hermione looks as though she is flipping us off with her wand.

And yeah, I’m pretty sure the DA rode Thestrals to the Ministry, not brooms!

Who is in charge of these? The WB has seriously LOST all credibility!

    Avatar Image says:

Wow those features sucks immensely. No real making of AT ALL!!! This is officially the worst Potter DVD since COS. Why the hell would they release such a barebone release

    Avatar Image says:

This doesn’t make any sense! The back cover of the singe dvd has the trio, Neville and Luna on brooms when really they never do ride them! They ride the thestrals! I really hate when they change things just to make it look more appealing to others! 3/4 of people who are going to buy the dvd are HP book fans! They want the real thing, not some “cooler” broomstick image! There’s more than flying broomsticks to Harry Potter!

Overall, the artwork is great on the rest of the images.

    Avatar Image says:

WTF doesn’t anyone look at the special features they are completely awfull its not the cover you have to put in the DVD you know. Those features suck. There is no making of and the hidden secret is about harry potter not OOTP so what the hell is this doing here. The only feature is the tonks feature and who the care about the editing. AS I SAY THERE IS NO REAL MAKING OF LIKE THERE WAS ON GOF DVD. I MEAN WHAT THE HELL IS THIS NONESENSE!

    Avatar Image says:

The covers have been unimpressive all throughout the entire series with the exception of SS, because that was traditionally drawn rather than photoshopped. POA had the chance of having a good cover had they used the promotional poster, but instead…meh….

No matter, no matter…things will have changed once the final movies are out. They’ll likely rework the covers to either be traditional or try to match them up to Grand Pre’s artwork…or just make more generic covers but with more…love in it…

    Avatar Image says:

I laughed when I saw the single edition back cover…wow, seriously WB, this is going a little far. However, I really like the special edition back cover…I definately will be getting the special edition.

    Avatar Image says:

awful! i hope this is a joke, give the real dvd covers, the front of the single cover is the only one that looks ok

    Avatar Image says:

I can’t say I’m impressed with these covers, but I suppose I best accept them the way they are. Neither can I say I’m pleased with the special features, but we can hope that Warner Brothers Home Video was emphasizing the more unique ones over the predictable ones in advertising on its back cover…

    Avatar Image says:

Heh heh. It kinda does look like Hermione is flipping us off with her wand… chuckles

    Avatar Image says:

Wow those special features are really bad compared what we got on the Goblet of Fire DVD

    Avatar Image says:

Guys, the artwork for both the covers are used from international posters, albeit slightly altered. (Although both covers use the exact same images of Ron and Hermione.) They look fine, and I’ll be getting the single-disc.

And you’re welcome Sue. (Although the link I sent which you listed as 2-disc front artwork, I sent that in because you can see part of the actual artwork on the discs and not just because of the front cover.)

    Avatar Image says:

Have these actually been confirmed by WB??

    Avatar Image says:

Why are they using the international artwork? I dunno, it just seems odd to me.

    Avatar Image says:

Hermione on a broomstick… LOL! Never once in the entire course of the series does she ride a broom, if memory serves me correctly. And she certainly didn’t in this film. WTH?

I also just don’t understand why they’re using the international artwork. Maybe I’m in the majority, but I rather liked the domestic poster.

    Avatar Image says:

Top grossing franchise of all time and this is what we get? You gotta be kidding me.

    Avatar Image says:

“Have these actually been confirmed by WB??”

Ms. Voldemort, to clarify your question, they are. DVD Town is a reliable source of information on upcoming DVDs, and it’s very unlikely they’ll lie or make up something this huge.

And why the complaining? It’s not what the DVD cover looks like, but what’s on the disc is what will count.

    Avatar Image says:

“Top grossing franchise of all time and this is what we get? You gotta be kidding me.”

I’ve been wondering the same thing about the books. Practically the biggest, most popular series of books ever written, and look at some of the cover art! Oh well, like Matthew said, it’s what’s inside that counts..

    Avatar Image says:

Gosh why are they on brooms? That’s so bizarre and completely random. I mean there IS a big broom ride scene but instead they… made one up? So weird. Especially when you add in how much Hermione seems to dislike riding. I’m just confused. Haha.

    Avatar Image says:

lol you can tell the single-disc back cover is fake because the lighting on ron and hermione’s faces is way too bright for the scene, and the second giveaway is that you can clearly see that hermione is on moody’s broom :p

    Avatar Image says:

    Billy:

The DVD covers are not fakes, badly photoshopped, yes but all of the OotP promo posters across the globe have been horribly photoshopped anyway; so I don’t know why people are so shocked and up in arms about it.

I’m personally upset by the special features, it’s really annoying that WB keeps holding out so we eventually double dip for the big release of all 7 films.

    Avatar Image says:

””Ms. Voldemort, to clarify your question, they are. DVD Town is a reliable source of information on upcoming DVDs, and it’s very unlikely they’ll lie or make up something this huge.

And why the complaining? It’s not what the DVD cover looks like, but what’s on the disc is what will count.”“

But the special are crappy how can you not see that. There is no real making of stuff on the DVD and they also skipped the always delightful chat with the trio:-(

I think we all should really write to the WB and ask why they would release such a measly DVD. When Goblet of Fire DVD was packed. And this is just so not up to the standard Where can we complain about this slap in the face??

    Avatar Image says:

Not only does the cover look stupid, they seem to have done that thing again where you can get only a widescreen DVD or the special edition DVD for a higher price!!! Yes, they made a mistake with the brooms instead of thestrals and I’d like to know if the WB is just that stupid or it’s a photoshop.

Also, WTF? is up with the back cover showing a battle on some freaking field between Voldemort and Death Eaters and Harry and the Order??? Not only do we NEVER see them in such a way during the film, it seems to be a preview of the FINAL movie, which is not being released on DVD btw, the fifth movie is. So they shouldn’t be showing a final showdown on a field!!!! WTF?

I think it must be fake because WB would have to have sunk to a new low to accomplish such a thing.

    Avatar Image says:

Well, I have seen all these images released by WB on their various US and international websites-and I have no problems with “artistic license”-even if it seems a bit bizarre to us HP fanatics.

However-the 2 things that got my attention from that site is that they “try to maintain accuracy” in the information, and then list Harry Melling (Dudley) right after Dan Radcliffe, and Jason Boyd (Piers Polkiss) - surely the unsung star of the film!!!!!

    sniggers

    Avatar Image says:

Oops—sorry for the inadvertent coding there!

    Should read:

    Avatar Image says:

Those pictures are so touched up they don’t look real O_o

    Avatar Image says:

Hmmm…methinks the work experience kid was given free licence with Photoshop. They don’t even look alive.

My copy of SS has a picture of the girl from “The Worst Witch” flying a broomstick and even that looks more realistic…

    Avatar Image says:

Okay…how weird was that to see Ron and Hermione on broomsticks. Im gonna buy that cover just becasue you’ll probablly never have the quidditch plot back again.

    Avatar Image says:

    I jus’ wanna commentary, man.

That’s what I got a DVD player for in the first place. Well, that and the fact that VCR tapes were getting more and more scarce.

I’ve always bought the 2-disc Harry Potters, mostly out of my love for HP in general; but this time the disappointment runs deep. I may buy the single disc and hope that a good Leaky commentary is produced. [hint, hint] Or maybe I’ll just save my money this year. Lord knows, there are plenty of other places to spend it. Like the gas pumps.

Viva, Harry Potter! WB, get a clue…

    Avatar Image says:

The reason they used the brooms instead of thestrals is because when they were making the movie,I read somewhere that they were originally planning for the DA to fly on brooms, and since they already created that photo(there is the same wallpaper) they used it,I think. And no hating on the DVD,until we actually get the dvd, maybe WB is hiding something.I just hope they’ll release more deleted scenes.

    Avatar Image says:

It’s a shame there aren’t as many features on this DVD than on the GOF DVD (the features on the GOF 2 disc DVD were awesome, but my sister borrowed it, left it at her ex-friend’s house and I haven’t seen it since).

    Avatar Image says:

Sue, I LOVE how you put the gorgeous pic of Ralph Fiennes here. Who cares what DVD looks like? I just want to see all the extra stuff! Sue, you rock!

    Avatar Image says:

    Alright, here’s my 2 cents:

I love how Jason Isaacs finally got on the cover! That’s a plus and a half!

lol, because there’s no commentary again, that just means that PotterCast has to get their butt in gear and give us more fan commentary! We’ve still got to get movies 1, 3 and now 5! I’ll be waiting!

Matthew: I know you keep saying that DVDTown is a reliable source of info, but where is it on WB? We’ve gotten no “official” word from WB about the date, their website doesn’t mention it, and Amazon.com doesn’t have it. Show me where it’s official, because if it is, it would be other places online, and it’s not. Prove me wrong.

    Avatar Image says:

Ya so why is Emma’s hand twisted when holding her wand? Is that how she normally holds it? I tried that movement with my wrist, it actually kind of hurts…I wonder why she holds her wand like that? O well, I’m excited ne wayz

    Avatar Image says:

Loving the backcover with the DE-hex showdown… might not be strictly canon, but very awesome all the same.

Ginny the might-just-be-a-distant-comet is most amusing on the other front cover.

    Avatar Image says:

I’m with zoetree. Where the heck is the commentary? grumble Not cool, WB. Is Pottercast gonna’ have to put out one for seriously awesome commentary, again? Actually, I would love a commentary from PC on top of their Phoenix Files segment. That would rock. But anyway, good job on being lame, WB.

    Avatar Image says:

why is it that they keep making the one-disk covers more beautiful than the two-disk version. Don’t they want to stimulate the sales of the two-disk version. I know it’s a matter of taste, but honoustly. I do like the features by the way. It isn’t a lot, but what’s there, looks really interesting.

    Avatar Image says:

Someone said Hermione is on Moddy’s broom. I did not notice that at first but when I went back and looked at it again I was shocked that it is true. I saw this movie three times and I don’t recall Hermione taking Moddy’s broom? (yes, I am being sarcastic) Come on WB I know you know we are going to buy it anyway but why can’t you once respect the fans who made these movies the highest grossing franchise and get it right just once. Please!

    Avatar Image says:

Sorry, I ment Moody not Moddy. Not only did I type it wrong once but both times.

    Avatar Image says:

Michelle, the reason Warners hasn’t put up the DVD for preorder yet is most likely because they’re probably finalizing the HD-DVD and Blu-ray releases (note that they haven’t specified whether the HD-DVD and Blu-ray releases will have uncompressed audio yet). Not to mention that not every new Warners title is up immediately for preorder… they have to send the information to retailers and such.

And Warners has developed this odd trend of not making their dual releases (the single-disc and 2-disc edition day-and-date tactic) available for preorder on their website (and on some online retailers) until like 4-5 weeks before the release date (like for “Superman Returns” and “Blood Diamond”). But they may speed it up this time because of the movie’s popularity, I’m not sure.

But there’s no doubt that is the real DVD covers… it’s just not available for preorder just yet. It’s not fake, trust me.

    Avatar Image says:

Th back covers are wrong. One has Harry, Ron, Hermione, etc. on brooms. They should be on thestrals. The picture even looks fake, look at Ron. The other back looks like they are fighting Voldemort outside, they should be in the Ministry. Have these people even seen the movie?

    Avatar Image says:

on the back of the one-disk version. is that suppose to be draco on the picture behind umbridge because I can swear that is not tom felton or even looks like him? Goodness. What is going on with wb?

    Avatar Image says:

Kerri: Actually the Quidditch subplot appears to have been added back into the sixth movie! There was a clipping in Entertainment Weekly a couple months ago that talked specifically about the HBP movie. It said (paraphrase) “look out for the return of quidditch, as in this one Ron Weasley becomes an unlikely sports hero.” I hope it doesn’t end up on the cutting room floor (I doubt it will, too much ties into it)

Looks at practically invsible Ginny. Gosh if they keep shafting Ginny like she’s non-existant the relationship between her and Harry in movie-verse is going to be extremely random. I don’t say this as a shipper, but just someone looking at the overall storytelling aspect. I think they were very ill-advised not to at least put the scene with her reminding him of being posessed by Voldemort in the movie. They gave Cho screentime in movie four to ready the audience for their relationship in OotP.

RE: The picture of the Death Eaters vs. DA. It’s a promotional image/used on some posters and internet ads. I’m actually quite fond of it. It looks very epic.

    Avatar Image says:

oh my… i hope the italian covers will be better than that, cause it’ll be what i’m buying but, alas!, i doubt it! ginny is soooo tiny that it looks like they took hermione’s pic and coloured her hair ginger!! it’s terrible… poor jo! i’d be livid if it was my characters they were tampering with!

    Avatar Image says:

    i like the 2-disc back :]

    Avatar Image says:

The extras on this DVD is just plain pathetic. No real good extras to sink your teeth into like the GOF DVD. Now that was a HP DVD i can relate to. But this is just NOT GOOD AT ALL! Why is everybody talking about the damn cover. It is the features that count and they really suck on this HP DVD

    THIS IS NOT GOOD:-(

    Avatar Image says:

I want to cry! It’s horrible. The photoshopping looks like crap. My dogs could do a better job. Why broomsticks? Good thing the movie doesn’t suck.

    Avatar Image says:

To everyone who is howling irate about the possible fake nature of this because the Trio and company are all on brooms…..

This summer while I was in London for the OotP premiere and our PotterCast, one morning I went across the street from our hotel to the local Starbucks for a badly needed cup of coffee. I sat outside and was truly enjoying my first morning in London. Watching the people go by, all the different cars etc, then suddenly a very cool big red double decker bus pulled up. I was so squeeful, I got my camera out like all true dork tourists and started taking a pic. Why this bus you ask?

Well it had HARRY POTTER and the Order of the Phoenix pics on the side, and GUESS WHAT?! THE TRIO ARE ALL ON BROOMS. Paid for by the hugeprbudget spending WB. See my pic of this below.

    http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/picture/168546

While it may be heh shockingly NONCANON, so odd for wB :P snorts , it is an authentic photo folks.

    Avatar Image says:

I’m finally vindicated! Thank you so much Sue, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to see that image somewhere on the ‘Net.

    Avatar Image says:

I don’t know why people are getting worked up over being gypped of something by a DVD cover artwork…seriously…Perhaps they are not doing all the extra stuff becasue it’s already been around on the internet for months now. You can watch interviews with the cast and everything here on leaky.

    Avatar Image says:

For those complaining about the lack of features on the 2-disc edition, I’ll tell you the reason behind that. WB wants you to buy the HD-DVD version. That one has 3 additional features: making of featurettes on creating characters and scenes; a feature that allows you to assemble your favorite clips from the movie and create a montage; and the “In Movie Experience” in which the DA cast share memorable moments.

That way WB makes sure that anyone who has an HD-DVD player buys the more expensive HD-DVD, and anyone who is thinking of buying an HD-DVD player has more incentive for doing so. As for those who don’t have either HDTV or HD-DVD and don’t want to get them right now, who cares? WB IS OUT TO MAKE MORE MONEY!!!

    Avatar Image says:

“making of featurettes on creating characters and scenes; a feature that allows you to assemble your favorite clips from the movie and create a montage”

Uh, those two features will be on the 2-disc DVD. Honestly, the only HD-DVD exclusive feature is the In-Movie Experience.

    Avatar Image says:

No it is not going to be on the 2 disc. Check the backcover again and you will see that the only features on the DVD is aditional scenes, trailing tonks,Hidden secrets and magic of editing. THATS IT nothing else! This DVD sucks compared to GOF DVD. i hate the WB for doing such a disappointing DVD for a movie that has almost made 1 billion dollar and they give us such a horrible DVD to thank us seeing it. Screw you WB you freaking suck so much i hate this!

    Avatar Image says:

Mike, if you’ve noticed with the previous Potter DVDs, Warner hardly includes the entire list of extras on the back cover of the DVDs (such as COS and GOF where they neglect to mention the inclusion of their respective trailers). I think “Focus Points” will be on the 2-disc DVD, but we’ll have to wait and see what the early DVD reviews say.

And I’m not fussed about the exclusive HD-DVD only extras anyway, although I hear there will be a music-only track on it (not confirmed yet, but it’d be nice if it is). And besides, Warners is trying to entice consumers to upgrade to HD and therefore make a few extras exclusive to the HD-DVD and Blu-ray releases. I WOULD complain about the HD release is if an actual commentary (and no IME) by David Yates was exclusive to that release… Warners did exactly that with their HD-DVD releases of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and the upcoming “Ocean’s 13”.

    Avatar Image says:

Trailer is one thing to neglect and many DVD’s do that. But making of features they don’t. So we will only see those 4 features on the DVD. Nothing else i know its bad but that is Warner’s doing. Those bastards!

    Avatar Image says:

Is it me, or do these look a bit rushed and underdone….. i seriously thought the covers would be so much busier.. like in GOF and PoA for example, the covers had other characters in the background, and displayed main themes as well, but not just the trio…. hmmm just looks a bit odd to me…. haha ahh cant believe the movies almost out of cinemas!

    Avatar Image says:

Why are Harry Potter fans so picky about every stupid little thing? Let’s click our heels together and say “i need a life.” A DVD cover is a DVD cover. As long as there is a DVD inside it, who effing cares?
