Rockin’ the Big Easy

New Orleans….are you ready for some Wizard Rock? Things will be hopping at Phoenix Rising this spring as the Harry Potter conference has announced several wizard rock groups will be playing as part of the gathering in May. Popular groups The Remus Lupins, Draco and the Malfoys, The Whomping Willows and The Parselmouths will be rocking the French Quarter, wizard rock style, as part of a special night event called “Storyville.” Tickets are already available for Phoenix Rising attendees at $30 (USD) per person, and include a full Cajun-style buffet dinner, one drink ticket and wristband in-out access to the private Bourbon Street event at the Cajun Cabin and the Five O’Clock Grille. Starting February 20, tickets will be available for those who are not registered to attend Phoenix Rising as well.
Also Phoenix Rising is seeking submissions for a student essay challenge open to students in high school who reside or attend school within the limits of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, St. Charles, and St. John the Baptist parishes. For more information, click here.

PotterCast will be on the road as we head south to take part in Phoenix Rising. Our podcast will be featured as part of Overture, the opening night event, with the podcast taking place after dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans. We have several special guests lined up for the show including members of Draco and the Malfoys and The Whomping Willows. We will also be taking part in a few panel discussions, with our own Melissa Anelli also featured on a key note presentation during the conference as well. Phoenix Rising will be held May 17-24 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
