First Post! How is the title any more spoilerish than the English one?

Avatar Image says:

Because the word hallows is pretty ambigual and the word “talismãs” is more specific.

Guess what!?!? tomorrow is Christian Coulson (tom riddle in the second movie)’s birthday… and thursday is minerva mcgonnegal’s (sp??) birthday.. ( the character not the actress)

just so you know talismãs is directly translated as “charms”

How is the english title diferent than the portugesse title>they have diferent meanings< DEATHLY HALLOWS and TALISMAS DE MORTE!!! Talismas De Morte means charms of death. what a spoiler!!

Using my limited Portuguese, Does it translate to ‘Harry Potter and the Charms/talismans of Death?”

Avatar Image says:

Its not charms. Its more like magical objects. theres no imediate translation. Harry potter and the magical objects of death. Its indeed more spoiling

The right title would be Harry Potter and the Talismans of Death.

Leaky, thanks for inform Portuguese fans.

wow, TLC posts so much more often than mugglenet. i’m a pretty big mugglenet fan, but they are having a bit of a dry spell with news. so i’m resorting to TLC. this site is pretty cool..the setup is a bit confusing, but i like it. pottercast is cool too. at least they actually discuss harry potter. mugglecast never does, but it is hilarious.

Hi! The book will be released in Brazil on November 10th by Rocco Publishing House. The name is “Harry Potter e as Relíquias da Morte” which translates to Harry Potter and the Relics of Death.

Interesting how Portuguese from Brazil is so different from the one spoken in Portugal. And it is the same language!

According to the Ukrainian publisher, Rowling’s office confirmed that the Ukrainian translation of HPDH was the first foreign translation to be released (on September 25th): http://www.kyivpost.com/guide/general/27427/

However, according to snitchseeker.com, HPDH was released (in Farsi translation) in Iran at the end of August: http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/deathly-hallows-released-iran-49941/

Any further information on this discrepancy?

The translation of talismas should be talismans and not charms! I had suggested the italian editor the same title but they had already found that awful hp and the gifts of death

I guess you can view the title as a spoiler, but there’s no word in portuguese for ‘Hallows’...and I think it turned out better than with HBP, in portuguese they translated it as ‘Harry Potter and the misterious Prince’ :S

i jsut had a brainblast!

m’k so, many of the titles irectly translate to ”...[relics, talismans etc.] of DEATH

it would be meant literally. they are the [objects] of Death, because he was the supposed maker of the hallows!
