We don’t have canon as to whether she’s still Headmistress this year (2007) or if she reverted back to being transfiguration teacher/Head of Gryffindor House. The “19 Years Later” (date 2017) chapter also doesn’t mention her, so it’s good to know that she at least made it to age 82! I actually thought of her as older than mid-60s or early 70s during Harry’s years.

As a teacher with also an October birthday (mine’s on the 11th) I am thrilled that Minerva’s is today. Do you realize that the Russians launched Sputnik I on her 32nd birthday?

I read in a JKR interview post-DH that Minerva was not the Headmistress of Hogwarts after 19 years; someone unnamed but unknown to us was given the post.
I think Minerva’s had a rough couple of years, and I’m sure she was seriously considering retirement, to spend the rest of years with her remaining limbs. I imagine her taking a quiet beach vacation in Spain, perhaps.
