Lavender’s physical appearance is never described in the books – go back and check if you don’t believe me. She was portrayed in the third movie by a black girl, but as she didn’t have any speaking parts, it probably isn’t important that she remain black. I do’nt want to get into a whole race discussion, but I don’t think it would look too good if harry, ron, hermione, and ginny all have first boyfriends/girlfriends of different races, and then end up with white soulmates. seems kind of like tokenism, so i’m glad they;re going to have lavender be white.

Thats because the person who had a cameo of her in the Prisoner of Azkaban was an Aficna American girl by the name of Jennifer smith- but way to go Warner Bros. The casting for these new characters is really good- not that they have ever let us down with casting before. Now we have a pretty face to put with Narcissa and Lavender, Now lets see the handsome young actor who will play Tom Riddle- it still should be Chritian Coulson for one of his stages of life- he did such a great job- besides as somebody said Shirley Henderson is about 40 something and she plays moaning Myrtle. I wonder what other new characters they will bring on?

Entertainment Weekle had a “Yearbook of Hogwarts” in an issue in July that had Lavender Brown as black. Obviously that was inaccurate.

But I like her; im surprise no one’s complained yet like they did with Luna

WOW!! It’s funny!! Because I thought that there was a possibility they used a real actress in this film, not a newcomer, because David said in an interview that he had seen lots of Lavenders, and he said it before the open audition.

But what surprise me is her age. I thought that they had put the limit in 18. At least that’s how it was in the open auditions. Whatever!! I think it’s better if she’s a experienced actress!! ^ She’s perfect for the role!! ^

She looks exactly as I pictured her to be but I pictured her alittle more bushy haired. Other than that I think she gorgeous! I wish Ginny was that pretty in the films. I always pictured Ginny being a querky little red head in the beginning and then a red head bombshell by the 6th movie. But I guess I cant say anything until I see some pics of ginny in HBP/f. Untill then I will withhold my judgement! :)

people get confused because of poa. But I hate to say, Cauron was an idiot. He thought Lupin was gay! If you read the book carefully, Harry describes the snogging session between R/L saying that you couldnt figure out where one began and where the other one ended. That would make impossible for Lavender to be black!!! So it’s Cauron’s fault. Besides if she were I’d think JKR wouldve let them know that detail.

@Soledad: She was not said to be black or white in the books. She was black in POA.
