Warner Brothers has given the official US “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” website a complete makeover today. The site is now revamped to highlight the OotP DVD, with a special countdown clock that you can embed on your blog or website, ticking off the days hours and minutes until the release here on December 11.

Also new are links to the Sweepstakes entry form that we told about recently to win a trip to the set of the ” Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” movie. The trailer for the OotP DVD is now featured on this redesigned website, using many of the backgrounds first seen on the UK version of the Harry Potter site. If you click on the spinning “Join the DA” logo button, you will find the Defense Against the Dark Arts training website has also been revamped with a special banner you can embed on your site, promoting the DVD and game.

Finally, there is link to a new Harry Potter DVD website, that has a preview of the interactive Harry Potter DVD game we told you about previously, and you can watch a demo of the game. Other new tidbits include an animated feature on the upcoming special trunk set collection of all five of the Harry Potter DVDs, a link to the popular magical trading cards, and links to the WB DVD shop, where you can watch some of the old trailers to the earlier film.

I’m confused, I already have the DVD. Surely it can’t be out later in the US? That would have to be a first for Hollywood!

JanitorOfAzkaban, yep, the U.S. gets the DVD a month after everyone else.

Wow, bizarre – I don’t know why they would do that to the us citizens. Glad I’m not one of them. The extra scenes weren’t that exciting though – wish they’d had more.

This website is the proof of the lack of extra features there was on the DvD. Sp disappoiting. I guarentee when you lot in the US get the dvd you’ll be on here complaining.

Did anyone ever find out what the deal was with the deleted scenes?

Youtube only showed 10 minutes of them and I heard that there were 15-17 minutes of deleted scenes, so yeah…

wtf is up with that?

Jimi, there really are only 10 minutes of deleted scenes, and only one of those scenes is really worth watching. I was so disappointed with the extra features. :(

WOW! I’m a member of the ‘DA’, now! But I’d really like to have ‘Harry’ or ‘Hermione’ teaching me!I’m terrible at spells.(3 out of 20…dismal) *> The site is great. Thanks, Leaky, for “leaking” it! LOL!!!

Countdown clock?

Bought it, watched it, enjoyed it.

The extras disc is a bit lacklustre. But seeing it this second time improved it over my first cinema viewing.

I don’t think I’ll be disappointed with the DVD (once we finally get it) because my expectations are extremely low. WB has released completely crap extras every time and I can’t imagine why that would change now. Obviously, people are buying the DVDs in droves as it is, so why should they bother putting the good stuff on? Wait until people aren’t buying the DVDs anymore and THEN load them up with the extras so that they’ll be bought all over again. After all, it’s all about the $$$, right?

So the features on the HD-DVD are different from the Special Edition? If so, that really stinks. >:-( I dont’ have a HD-DVD player.
