Several months ago actor Dan Radcliffe said he very much wanted to reprise his role in the play “Equus” for a production to be held on Broadway next year. This morning our Order partner DanRadcliffe.com has confirmed the play with Dan in the lead role is set to happen, with “Equus” due to open here in the United States September of 2008. Along with Dan, fellow Harry Potter star and Tony Award winning actor Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) will return again in the play which was such a success in London’s West End earlier this year. The Daily Mail is also reporting today that the play will go into rehearsals in New York City starting August of 2008. No ticket information is yet available, and we will update with more on this exciting news when we can.
no danny boy,
You don’t have to be sorry to offend, you just gave your opinion. I don’t think Danfans are easily offened, in fact, it’s hard to get offended by “Dan is a terrible actor” remark these days because we just have so many reviews, personal experiences and opinions that suggested the opposite. That doesn’t mean he is the greatest or anything, he is just one of many actors, sometimes he will do brillantly, some other time not so. You can’t win them all but on a whole, I think Dan is a bit of alright. Thank for giving us much joy, Dan.
Well, as for the show running whilst HP is in theatres, I don’t think that would be a problem. But my question is about how this will work since Dan has to do press for HBP in November! I mean he has travel all over the world to do the press conferences and interviews and the like… at the very least London is a must. Is Equus only going to have a 2 month run then, or are they going to halt for a few weeks so Dan can do press?
I never thought about Equus and HPB going on at the same time. I don’t care about that at all except how Dan is going to travel to premiers and do all the press at the same time as the play. If WB was worried about it they would have stepped in not because they don’t want him to do the play but just because he has obligations to HBP. I wonder if there is going to be a week or two break so Dan can go do all the HBP work. Reminder to self not to buy tickets to the play around HBP time just in case an understudy fills in. I don’t want to spend all that money getting to NY and not seeing Dan.
See the problem in logistics? But I think Dan’s stint in Broadway will only be for 5 weeks. That’s the usual duration of a play, isn’t it? An understudy can take over from where Dan left off. I wish they’d issue an announcement soon so fans who wanted to see Dan as Alan Strang won’t be shortchanged if he can’t do a 16 week run like he did in the West End.
And I just ignored ‘no danny boy’. Opinions like that are a joke nowadays. Dan has more than proven his Acting worth in Equus, has nominations left and right for it, did a good job in OotP and there’s just more good things to come. New YOrk, here comes DanRad!
Danny boy wants a Tony award now eh? Can’t fault this boy’s ambition. Most achievers are very hungry at that age. I guess I should stop caling him Danny boy now…

Bunny- I don’t see why you can’t have them out at the same time? what’s your reasoning?
well i am very offened at that, because did any one see his work in David copperfield he was great actor and he was what like five! so hes a great actor and that’s it….....does any one wish too disagree.
Grapes, the issue is that Dan has to be away from New York for several weeks to do HBP press – yes, some press is done in New York, but he will also need to be in London and several other cities that they send him to to promote each film. It takes a few weeks and obviously he cannot be in New York performing every night and also in London and the other cities they will need him to go to. So this either means he will have an understudy those weeks or the play will have finished it’s run by the time HBP press begins (since the press stuff always starts in London, not New York).
Hey guys don’t be jeolous because Dan gets to show his acting “chops” to the world. The fan girls aren’t the only ones who will flood the theater. There are also the Harry Hags; women of a certain age. Better get your tickets early.
ok does any one know tha rating of this play? Because I realy want to go can some one tell me please. : )

This is great! I can easily fly there from Singapore!! At least this time it won’t in Britain, where I haven’t been to in 15 years. I’m sure Dan will be AMAZING. I mean, everyone doubted his acting before (I know I did), but now he’s got so many movies and plays under his belt, no-one can doubt him now!
As for people who’s making fun of Dan showing people his peeps. Seriously, you guys, grow up. It’s a penis. Oh hahaha penis!, right? Not. Equus is a FAMOUS play. The whole point is the psychological aspect, and troubled emotions of a boy. He’s growing up, essentially. If you don’t have a sex scene in a play about troubled adolescence, then you’ve got nothing. The nakedness is exactly what makes the play realistic, and if you can’t understand art, please refrain from making sophomoric remarks.

He mounted the broom and kicked hard against the ground and up, up he soared; air rushed through his hair, and his robes whipped out behind him -- and in a rush of fierce joy he realized he'd found something he could do without being taught -- this was ea
