A rumor has cropped up in recent weeks claiming that singer Madonna’s daughter Lourdes had been considered for a part in HBP. This is false, the WB has told TLC. She will not be in the film.

Thanks for the news Melissa, the rumour was a little odd as from what we know every part has been auditioned for, it seemed odd that someone was asked to take part without auditioning.

The funny thing is these news made it to our papers. You’d think newspapers would verify their info but no, they just trust the Mirror. Granted, the paper that printed it has a bit of yellow-paperism about it and the front page always has a bit of red or it doesn’t sell.

Lauren

Thank goodness! I’m sure she’s a very nice girl, but she doesn’t belong in Harry Potter.

I agree, Lauren. Thank you, Melissa, for the update!

It made our paper, too, which is ridiculous—who exactly was she supposed to play?

Oh thank goodness.

I don’t want to be rude to Lourde, but that’s great news. What was the reason for her to be in the film anyway? Oh, to late, that was rude. Sorry!

Was she only going to be in it because she’s Madonna’s daughter? That’s just weird and annoying. What would the point have been, should it have helped the HP-movies, given them some extra publicity? Like they need it. I’m glad it wasn’t true.

I saw this yesterday on TheSnitch as an exclusive over there. VTM and Snitch Seeker also had it ages ago because of TheSnitch too – I’m glad it’s not true!

I´m glad this turned out to be false. It smelt a bit like favouritism just because she is Madonna´s daughter (although I am very much aware that it´s how it goes in the world). Not that I think Lourdes shouldn´t get the chance to pursue an acting career, if she wants to. She should be given an equal chance. But the others should be given an equal chance too. That means going through the auditioning process for all of them, actors without famous parents as well as actors with famous parents. Am I too idealistic?

This actually had been debunked for a few days and I thought I had posted it already! Gah. Sorry. Going a little mad, I am.

I second Ava B’s comment, Melissa! You’d best take care of yourself! We need you back, on PotterCast, and to keep us on our toes! I’m glad that there is another rumor to hit the skids! The world is so full of them! Thanks again, TLC, for being on the spot! *) That’s why I love you!!!!!!

I guess I’m the only Madonna fan. I wouldn’t have minded. I thought it would’ve been cool. She didn’t have to play anyone specific. She could’ve just been an extra as a student.

I wouldn’t have minded her as an extra either, even if it were through connections, but a speaking part, even a one liner, would’ve been a bit unfair to audition goers.
