@Bellasnape- They aren’t filming Spinner’s End until the spring so they might not announce Narcissa until then.

@Grader: Yes, I guess you’re right, they can introduce the locket that way, but it’s not the same. One of the best parts after the 6th book was released was guessing what all the Horcruxes might be, but it seems like the movies are deviating from the books more and more.
I am also disappointed about Snape’s memory not being included, but if it was filmed, then I am sure it will be in the 6th movie. Has anyone else noticed that with each DVD there seems to be less and less bonus features? I think that by now the people in charge have realized that fans will buy the DVD even if there weren’t any bonus features included, so why bother spending more money to make more features? After all, bonus features are just incentives for purchasing the DVD, when you can watch the movie on a cable channel or On Demand or something. It doesn’t make sense because they make more and more money with each film, so they should have more content, but oh well. No matter; I cannot wait for my DVD to come!

thanks for sharing these, Joanne! Nice. =)
This caught my attention:
Nice canon Ron, good emphasis of Harry’s grief and aloneness, but to my taste, the poignancy of the scene is lost when Hermione half smiles in response to Ron’s shrug.
at least i know that that’s Emma Watson who half-smiled, NOT the real Hermy. sigh

Just to answer some questions in the comments: There are definately no deleted scenes involving Snape’s worst memory. While there are no Conversations With The Cast, there are lots of comments from cast members (including Gary Oldman, Dan, both Emmas, Rupert, Imelda Staunton, etc), plus the producer and director, in the section “Secrets of HP” and a few in HP: Magic of Editing. There may be a brief glimpse of dueling, but no long scene of Bella and Sirius duelling.
I eventually got the links to work, (they are on DVD Rom material), but the link labelled Sneak Peak (no mention of HALF BLOOD PRINCE Sneak Peak)simply takes you to the Warner Bros HP websites, with trailers of Phoenix and previous movies. So unless they update this when the DVD is released in the States, it isn’t to do with HBP. Maybe the journalist got it wrong. I don’t see how this DVD could contain HBP material, since they hadn’t started filming yet when DVD went to production.
The extra stuff is a lot of fun, but I just know that the true HP fan would love it in much much more detail. All of the set visits, comments, etc. are so very brief. I would have liked longer, fuller, much more detailed interviews with cast and crew. And, of course, a commentary! Hey Pottercast Trio – we’d love a fan commentary!

Wow I can’t wait to get the movie. The part with Natalia Tena sounds interesting.

wow i can’t wait to buy my copy of the dvd and burn it. seriously, like the movie wasn’t bad enough on its own. these deleted scenes suck. i don’t care about seeing trelawney eating or pointless camera shots. i thought if they included some extended scenes and possible important deleted scenes, than that might have save the movie. WB have just made a powerful enemy.

No extended SWM? Fine, I will save money though! No Snape, no Harry Potter!

Am I the only one who’s disapointed because they cut the scene in witch hagrid was fired. I saw pics of maggie smith in a wheelchair, so where is that scene? It was really the only thing I mist in the movie. I know they can’t put in everything, but that scene was so tragic and powerfull.

Joanne, thanks for sharing. And I am glad you pointed out that we will hear comments by the cast on the DVD extras. The extras on the DVDs of the first four HP movies have always greatly satisfied me, but I was already beginning to wonder about this one. No cast interviews? Oh, well, the comments might be just as good as interviews with always the same questions. I would have loved EXTENSIVE deleted scenes and a thorough BTS, but okay. Still have to wait a week until I get the DVD.

I’m buying the HD DVD version which includes an IME (in movie experience) track. The IME for this one is supposed to feature the cast of Dumbledore’s army. This plays like a commentary, except in video form while the movie is playing. Should be pretty cool. I’m thinking about importing the Japanese version of the film (HD DVD is region free) because it comes out quite a bit earlier then the American version. Once I get a copy i’ll be sure to post a review on the forums.

It sounds OK, but not a patch on the bonus features on the GOF DVD. The delated scenes and behind the scenes footage on the GOF DVD were brilliant. Oh well.

- “The deleted scenes sound negligible, and we aren’t getting any of the important ones (Snape’s worst memory, etc.). What makes it worse is that we know they shot this—why wouldn’t they just give it to us?”
I totally agree with you. They have lots of footage of substance and of importance to the fans, which we know they filmed, and we will never get to see them. Unless WB is planning to re-release all the Potter movies after the last one comes out in new extended editions (and that would be a disgusting thing to do for the fans) then WB is just being stupid.. or the director and the crew don’t want to waste more time adding the effects, music etc.. to all that footage for a DVD that they’re sure all the fans are going to buy anyway. Very disappointing, WB.
Some of the scenes that should have been included in the deleted scenes (all of which they filmed): Sirius and Bella duelling; extended Snape’s Worst Memory; McGonagall on a wheelchair after the MoM battle with Hagrid comforting her; Harry mourning Sirius, skimming flat stones across the Black Lake.

Mark my words, after the Deathly Hallows DVD has been released and there will be no more HP movies to shoot, we will see a whole new franchise containing the extended edition of each of the seven movies (that is with the deleted scenes finally integrated into the movies, like the Lord of the Rings movies have). So we’ll be ending up buying them all over and over again…

Too bad, john! You’ll be missing a lot, I’m afraid. Just because it’s “missing” a few points, doesn’t make it “unwatchable” for the True Harry Potter Fan. As in the Movie, itself, I’m sure there was a “limit” to what they could salvage and use. Not ALL the “bits and bobs” are in tact. Also, a Three Disk Set would be expensive to produce. Given the probable cost of HBP, it wouldn’t really be prudent, right now. When they do a “7-disk set” (which you KNOW they will!) it will, most likely have and extended “outtakes/making of/etc” set of disks. Like ‘LOTR’ and ‘Star Wars’. Each has a multiple disk extra with the sets. Both, are considered “epic Series’ ” JMHO *D

This is off the topic but as someone mentioned above they havent told us who is playing Narcissa and I am positve that Spinners End is in the movie it seems crucial to see the unbreakable vow and its really the only scene that Bellas in. But they should get on the ball and let us know the cast of new characters already!
