There is new footage from the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film included on the US Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD. Readers will recall that when the UK saw the release last month, there were two special sneak peeks at the sixth Harry Potter film included via the DVD; today there is new video with the sneak peek, including some fantastic shots of Draco (Tom Felton) cursing Harry on the train, and Harry and Ginny, the interior of Slughorn’s home, and even dialog between Professor Dumbledore and Harry discussing Horcruxes (yes really!). Also new are various interviews conducted recently at the DVD launch in London, England, including new quotes from actress Emma Watson (Hermione), Matt Lewis (Neville), Rupert Grint (Ron) a hilarious quote from Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) discussing the Ron/Lavender snogging scenes, as well as quotes from producer David Heyman and HBP director David Yates. Tansye, what you said about Bonnie wasn’t very nice. She is a pretty person in her own way, and they aren’t going to coat her in make up and turn her into a different person just to make her attractive. One of the things that Harry is attracted to Ginny is her personality, which should always rule over looks, so as long as she does a good acting job, people shouldn’t obsess over whether they think she is pretty or not.
Kelly: I did not say that Hermione “puts Harry in his place”- I said “She is such a strong female character and throughout the story she keeps Harry level-headed, especially during his most tempermental moments”. Name a scene: certainly, I watched OoTP last night, and when Harry was ready to run off to find Sirius after his vision, she tried to slow him down and get him to check Grimmauld Place to see if he was there before he did anything rash. And he listened to her. I was simply pointing out the fact that she cares very much about him.
I was just expressing my opinion and you are merely expressing yours, which I totally respect. If you read further down in my post, I had stated that I would like to know more about Ginny as a character. I didn’t get enough of a background on her, personally. JKR makes all of the female charactres unique and strong, which I love and I am sure you do as well. I would like to know more about all of them if I could!
ImHermione1027: I completely agree with you. I think Hermione is like a younger, female version of Dumbledore. She’s awesome. Hermione never gets afraid of Harry or gets timid or anything like that when he’s yelling. I mean for one thing Harry never even yells at Hermione, I can’t think of one scene where he’s yelled at her like he’s yelled at Ron. And Hermione and Harry have never gotten into a fight. Harry was made at her in POA for telling McGonagall about the firebolt, but they were 13 and Hermione had done the smart thing anyways.
Hermione is definitely a strong character and I think she “knows” how Harry’s mind works, because she knows what Harry wants to do before he even says alot of the time. Like the part in book 7, when they’re basically finishing each other’s sentences after they’re done eavesdropping on Ted Tonks and his crew. And Ron gets jealous and starts yelling at them and then leaves. And then that part in the OOTP book when Harry is avoiding everyone and won’t talk to anyone, Hermione comes and he listens to her. And she knows exactly what he’s feeling and tells to, “Stop acting all misunderstood.” She’s great!
And if you ask me Hermione is the voice of reason in the trio. I mean Harry and Ron do listen to her. When they’re making up a plan, they always ask for Hermione’s opinion. She’s the one who always figures things out. they wouldn’t have figured out what was petrifying all the people in book 2, if it hadn’t been for Hermione. And not to mention she’s saved Harry and Ron’s lives like a million times throughout the serious.
she’s definitely the best female character in the books in my opinion. After her then it’s McGonagall and then Mrs. Weasley.
personally i didn’t really liked the 5th movie it was very lacking, though the harry sirius momantes were a few of the good things that were done in that movie.
removing snape’s memory of lily well i was highly disappointed.
as i keep on saying i would have much rather it wasn’t the same Dir and co. from the 5th doing the 6th. i have low expectoins for the 6th movie :-/
as for the harry and ginny almost kiss can any one remember what room was it shot in? i think it’s the trophy room or maybe it’s Dumbledore office.
I thought the Ginny plot was a little weak too. She is still a stranger to me even after 3 books of further appearances. Relationships need to have more substance than that in my opinion: like Ron/Hermione does. I find its more properly fleshed out with more equal interaction having been had between the two of them.
I do like lots of interaction when I choose my favorite ships: hey, thats why I ship Ron/Hermione, Harry/Hermione, Harry/Draco, Lucius/Narcissa, and Harry/Luna (although the H/D and H/Hr shippers inside me tend to get jealous of Luna)
Celia: thanks for elaborating on everything I was thinking/feeling! I am right there with you and agree with your thoughts completely. I did not think that Hermione ever backed down from anyone! Your quotes are very accurate in backing up this point, well done :) And seeing her as a younger/female version of Dumbledore…excellent I really like that connection.
Slitheress: that was a part of my point and I agree with you as well, I still feel like Ginny is a stranger, and I definitely don’t want her to be, I wanted to know more about her. She has tons of potential; I just wished, to use your terminology, she was more fleshed out. Hehe, as for your “ships”- let’s face it, Harry is SO amazing, he could have probably been some kind of wizard pimp and had them all wrapped around his finger :) Just kidding, just kidding!
Slitheress: here is my less serious side coming out on these boards: Harry would have a cloak of Gryffindor maroon with a gold Gryffindor emblem on the back, the chain around his neck would have to be a more blinging version of Xenophilius Lovegood’s, really huge Deathly Hallows symbol, his cane would be topped with a sparkling golden snitch, a dashing pinstriped suit, he can have his regular glasses because they rock IMHO, put some pomade in that shaggy hair of his, voila..Pimp Harry. 100 Ways to Charm Witches what? Just save the wizarding world and you’‘ll forever have witches falling all over you!! :)
Please note- this is meant in jest. Harry’s personality wouldn’t lend himself to such activities, and that is certainly party of the reason why I love him. What woman doesn’t want a man who is modest? :)
The coming movie, the half blood prince looks great, can’t wait for it to come out….....It’s about time Ron gets a little lovin…hmmm, and Harry and Ginny, so close….........wahoooooooooo… STell
HARRY GINNY HARRY GINNY HARRY GINNY AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AND KISSING SECENS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHE FINALY WANTS HER AND WE GET TO SEE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN 4 MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TO SEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
