JKRowling.com’s secret “Room of Requirement” door (accessed by clicking the eraser on her main desk and then clicking the handle on the door) is now open, revealing the map of the future generations of Harry Potter characters. Jo Rowling drew this chart while being filmed for the documentary, “JK Rowling, A Year in the Life,” which will air on British ITV tomorrow evening.

Oh dear, Maths again. :-( She says Harry was born July 31, 1980. This means that his first year at Hogwarts was 1990-91, which makes year 7 1997-98. So, since Fred was killed in the latter part of what would have been Harry’s 7th year, shouldn’t his death date be 1998?

Oops! I should have typed 1991-92 as Harry’s first year. The rest of my comment is correct, though.

Angharad, if fred died at the end of year seven then you are correct. I can“t remember, was the battle of hogwarts before new years eve or after. if it was before 1997 is still correct.

Draco doesn’t marry Pansy! That has made my day!

Secunda: the battle of Hogwarts was after New Year’s, for Godric’s Hollow happened on Christmas Day and it certainly took more than five days for them to reach Hogwarts.

This is really great! And I really love ALL of the names! Although I would really like to know the middle names for Hugo and Rose. And I’d like to know about Neville’s kids. Thankyou Jo for this!

Oh wow, this is so cool! I love all the names. I love that Percy didn’t marry Penny, maybe this Aubrey girl can loosen him up! I just hope some middles names include Remus, Nymphadora and Aruthur. And I love Jo, but the women greatly needs to take a course in basic math.

YAHHHHHHHH! This is EXCELLENT! For some reason I always thought Charlie would be the one that wouldn’t get married. He does like dragons a lot afterall…

I’m so glad James’ middle name is Sirius! And Lily Luna Potter is so cute! I wish we had learned Hugo and Rose’s middle names though. (I guess we’ll leave that to the Scottish Book) Scorpius Hyperion…oh geez, that poor child. I love the name Lysander, but Lysander Scamander is a bit much, :-D.

I can’t wait to get background information on these kids. (Hopefully it’ll be in the encylopedia) I’m curious about this Audrey person too. I also love that George married Angelina. Yah a bit twisted, but still, like Jo said they’d be happy together!

Everyone seems so surprised that Draco’s not with Pansy and Percy’s not with Penelope, etc. But how many people do you know married their high school sweethearts?

It’s weird that for having 7 children Molly and Arthur only get 12 grandkids. 7 girls and 5 boys! lol. Roxy is a cool name, I wonder what her middle name is. I wonder if Audrey was mentioned somewhere or one of her relatives. Has Jo mentioned her last name somewhere?

Scorpius has grown on me. And ‘Hyperion’ just crack me up, mostly for personal reasons.

Besides, it’s still not as bad as ‘Abraxas’. Good heavens.

Oh, these little additions to the canon are always so sweet :))) Thanks Jo =))) The fact that James’ middle name is Sirius is kind of obvious, considering Harry’s love for naming kids after somebody whom he loved or respected. I like Lily Luna, it sounds like music :))) And Scorpius Hyperion is my favourite! Well, many people say it is bizarre, but to me it would be more bizarre if Draco named his son, say, Jack. A Malfoy just HAS to have a weird-sounding name, such names suit this family so much :))) But I’m a little bit confused now… In the Pottercast interview Jo said that the name of Draco’s wife was Astoria, and in the tree the name is written as “Asteria”. Well, I’d prefer “Asteria”, as it means “moon stone”, which is really cute :))) “Astoria” sounds like a hotel or a restaurant :(((
