Awwww, Albus! It’s fitting that she chose him. He is a great wizard, after all ;)

But was he really 64 when he defeated Grindelwald in 1945? I didn’t think he was THAT old.

Awww….our dear Albus.

Well, he was a bit younger than I had thought he was.

One of the more interesting aspects of this is his birth year. According to the Lexicon JKR had stated he was around 150 years old and therefore speculated that he was born in 1840. Turns out he was 155. Of course, as some have noted, given the tremendous backstory it’s probably a little hard for her to keep track of every little detail.

Fantastic! I love Albus, even more now that we know he was human.

That is so gorgeous.

Doesn’t that make Dumbledore 115 at the time of his death, not 155? I suppose that justifies Jo’s comment about McG getting on a bit to become head of Hogwarts.

JKR could have changed her mind about Albus’s age.

But his death date IS a mistake. He died in 1997, not 1996. I hope she could fix it soon ^^

I find it interesting that he doesn’t blink. Didn’t all the past wizards blink or move or something was shining?

Ah I always wondered how old he was. I gues now we know. Thanks Jo!

Aww, she planned this WOTM thing out quite well didn’t she? Looks like she’s gonna start going through some of the wizards we know, and will probably end it once and for all when she gets to Harry. And oh, we finally have DD’s birth year confirmed, YAY! Thanks Jo!! :D

Whoops – he died in 1997, not 1996.

Still, what a great choice for Wizard of the Month. Since this drawing is up on the official site, is this Dumbledore’s true appearance, canonically? ;)

How about Snape for next month? Or just go through all the main characters. :D
