Pardon Our Mess! Redesign Underway!

Fair, patient Leaky people: We will have a bit of dust and debris around here in the next few days, as we push through a long-owed redesign and shift our content. We have a whole new system running the site, a new/cleaner design showing it off, and have ditched a lot of the elements that have been giving people problems (phew). So, we really hope you like the new look, which our John Dawlish Noe brought forward and which has been executed by our lovely Super!Alex Robbin on our brand-new system custom-designed by SuperGenius!Nick Poulden. Lots more to come, but in the meantime, watch out for the nargles.

Super!Alex

Thanks guys for the praise! We’re working as fast as we can to convert our old system to this new, more efficient system of doing things. It will take some time as we have so many different pages throughout our site but we hope to have it completely converted soon. We know there are bugs and they are getting fixed in order of need. For instance, that weird voting problem where it shows a white screen after you vote, that is definitely top-priority. The fact that the at-a-glance buttons are a little lagging, that’s not-so-high-priority.

We look forward to your feedback and suggestions you have. There is more to come as Melissa said, lots more. You won’t be disappointed.

Right now I can’t see any Recent Leaky News, even when I click on the Browse button. I still don’t see Comments on the Leaky Poll. I’ll be glad to see it all up and going.

Can’t wait to do some posting here. I’ve been holding too much in for the last few days.

Hi guys

Great job, for the whole of the last few months not just the new look. I dont know how you’ve done it, with the tour, the film, the book and everything else. A couple of comments about the new look. I like to be able to see all the headlines and the brief intro so that I know whether I want to read them – I can’t get that now; the ‘browse recent leaky news’ isnt giving me anything except the latest story. Also as with others I hate flashing adverts, they make me feel sick (really – nauseous). I can scroll down top ones, but the perfect lover one is making me feel quite ill. Also, I tried the feedback survey to help make the site better – this isnt a site survey, it’s data collection, and you should think carefully whether you should be participating in this sort of marketing ploy.

Now that we know a lot of the answers, it’s really funny listening to the Pottercasts recorded before the book came out – there are some really good theories that were dismissed out of hand – but I do wish you had remembered to summarise them all – I think it was at Eureka that one person said something for about two minutes, and you all said it was a really good theory! What was it???

But all said, I think you’ve done a really good job, thank you very much for making Harry even more fun than it might have been without you.

Great job, Leaky!! I can’t wait to get my poll comments back – I miss my little group!!

Just one suggestion – I think the old font was easier to read (on the news items and poll voting options). Any chance of bumping the font size up a little higher or something?
