the chosen cover (which i voted for) might not be that beautiful work of art like the US cover, but you gotta give it to them, it is much more accurate. US cover was really deceiving. “wandless magic”? oy, i tell ya.. :)

I didn’t like either of them so I never voted. The RoR one was too busy and the other one didn’t look sinister enough for me. Plus I’m just not a fan of style of art in general. Oh well. Not my country, so I guess my opinion doesn’t matter anyway.

I’m with Alayna. The “Joanne” lept off the page at me and I thought, “Aha! Apparently the German publishers don’t think boys will have a problem reading something written by a woman!” (the reason she was asked to write as “J.K.” in the UK and US)

I´ve always liked the German cover art – well, up to 4 anyways… The first 4 weren´t naturalistic either but they really did work out on postmodern level. But the sixth one is just bad. Sorry. I am German and I still think it stinks. Like, drawing a bazillon details that just so don´t sum up to anything.

Well, actually I don’t like any of the artwork I’ve seen so far for any of the seven books in any language! I’d never be tempted to buy any of the them by looking at the covers! Hence, the saying: you can’t judge a book by its cover, I suppose. If I had to re-buy (and I’m thinking about it, because four are hard-back and three aren’t – therefore different sizes) I’d buy them with the adult covers, no gawky kids or misshapen adult characters on those, thank God.

Ugh the German covers are always so ugly it hurts! And btw WHY is Voldemort wearing what looks like leggings?

I was really disappointed of both those covers. By voting for the HP/LV picture I tried to prevent the worst. The choice of scenes is ok, but the style? Why does Harry look so mean? Up to book 5 I’ve liked the German covers best, but then! The US cover for DH looks so awesome, I wish we could borrow it.

Everybody seems so critical here! I quite like the German covers, although I don’t like the books in German. Being a German speaker I’ve always only read the English books. But I didn’t like the “fire” cover, that loked too messy.
Altogether I think the simple British adult covers are my favourites. The German adult ones are terrible.
By the way, it’s not 290.000 people who voted for “Cover A” but 62% of those.

Those German covers are so damn ugly, especially the way Harry has been drawn, he looks quite evil to me. Wait and see ‘till the Dutch cover of book 7 will be revealed; I bet it will be as beautiful as it’s 6 predecessors.

Hmmm. Not too crazy about them, but the RoR is more interesting to look at. I think they’re ok. What I don’t get is the spaghetti that’s growing out of Harry’s head though…. lol

and what’s up with those legs of VOldemort? oh,soooooooooo funny!

The German also have a adult edition, and those are always beautiful! This chosen one….. I don’t really like this cover.
I hope the Dutch is going to be as good as always!

Haha, sorry all you German people out there, but that’s a horrible cover. All the swedish ones have been my favorites so far and i just hope that will not change with Deathly Hallows!

I think the scenes depicted on the two book covers were essential to the story. However, the forest scene cover is a little dull; it reminds me of a campsite even more so that Voldemort looks like he could be roasting marshmallows, the way his wand is held near the fire. It would be better if the artist showed Voldemort and Harry more close-up. The reason I prefer the fire escape scene cover is because it is more exciting and adventurous and makes me think more of mortal peril which is fitting, since the title contains the word “death.”
