Becka, you have the right not to like Rupert as person and you have the right to say so. You might offend some of his fans, others might accept that people can’t all like the same person. I happen to like Rupert as a person too and I think he just is shy and not as articulate or confident as Daniel and Emma when he gives interviews, but he seems like a friendly, genuinely warm person who would never act snooty or condescending toward fans or the media.I think his real life personality shines through his portrayal and that is why he is so convincing as Ron.None of the proverbial English coldness there, as you pointed out, although his the cold colour combination of copper hair, blue eyes and pale skin could easily earned him the “Ice Prince” tag if he had a cold personality to boot. I am glad I made my point and you made yours without being offended,a difference of opinion does not have to equal anger and bashing esp.not on forums which are about open and free discusssion first and foremost IMHO.

Just a not to Sonja: I think I apologized to Dan’s fans as much as I did to Rupert’s fans. It’s just in my nature to hate to offend anyone, even if I didn’t mean to, so I like to make it clear that I mean no offend.

To protegomuggletum: I’m glad there’s no hard feelings, and btw, I did not mean that Rupert himself is a bad person, I do not know him of course after all, I just meant that I don’t like the side that he shows to the public. I’m quite sure that he doesn’t mean it, but I just don’t have the patience to try to understand him more or deeper (or any other celeb really). Actors are usually just actors to me, and that’s usually the main part I care about, about them. I’m not really into the fangirling issues that seem to be ruling the world nowadays.

Again, No offend meant to anyone, it’s just how I am, and how I see things.

omg i saw agree Thestralseye there were so many things that annoyed me about Ruperts preformance in GOF, yes he was good in some of it but his reaction to Cedrics death during Dumbledores speach was a sign and rolling his eyes. me and my brother laughed our heads off. One of the twins looked like he was greiving for a brother and all rupert could do was roll his eyes. GRRR! But i guarantee that he’s better in Driving Lessons. And he was much better in OOTP. he was more like the Ron Weasley i know and love from the books. p.s. i’m not rupert bashing i still love rupert!

I must be one of the very few wierdos that saw the Radcliffe boy for the first time during the Equus run instead of Harry Potter. I watched the damned last HP movie just to see this bloke again, but in the role that made him famous. All I have to say is this: if it weren’t for Staulton, the movie would have been a laugh, as are the other movies nominated for these so called ‘awards’. Radcliffe still managed to give some excellent deliveries and also had a few interesting powerful moments. However, HP is only damaging his future, IMO.

To Radcliffe, a piece of advise: run away from the franchise before it is too late. You are wasting your time and talents acting in lame fantasy movies. Act in works of substance. Like Equus. You were f…..g good in that one, mate!

PIECE OF ADVICE: ok, guys, cool it. This is getting a little hectic for an award that’s not even compareable to the Oscars. These are PEOPLE voting for them, not cussing professional critics, Damn It! Those actors there seriously DON’T Give A F…...G damn about those awards (although for the people who’ve won, well, they should feel good ‘bout themselves) and they’re there to have fun reviewing their works. All of them, as far as I can see, have an equal chance of winning, and by that I mean they aren’t voted for by just fan clubs and maniacs, there are more people out there than just us. True, there are amazing actors like Judi Dench and Johnney Depp that out act All three of the trio, but the people just pick who ever they liked based on character more than acting. Not all people are made critics to decide on one’s acting, so they have to go with the character and whether they liked it or not.

Will you RUpertlovers quit spouting that” Rupert is only secondary, only sidekick that’s why he didn’t win any award” crap?? I’m getting insulted for Emma here. Get two things inside your heads: One: Emma is also secondary cast BUT she’s still getting nominations left and right. Two: Rupert is nominated in the NMA awards so that shoots down your “he’s not the lead that’s why he’s not nominated ” excuse. And so what if this is just another fan award? Even Johnny Depp and keira KNightley won in the Teen Choice award and they were still happy to receive it. Where would they be if not for the fans anyway?

“whereas Dan has starting to get some recognation OUTSIDE the Potter franchise as well”

Sorry if Dan is popular OUTSIDE the franchise as you say then why is December Boys such a big flop? Is not expanding which is term use for over 100 additional cinemas which not happening to Dan movie. Rupert Driving Lessons did even better. I just dont see it. Maybe its just so many cheat in the voting for that Dan win. Maybe J.Depp should of won if the vote was fair.

kyle: Decemberboys being a “flop” as you call it. Is NOT Dan´s fault..YES that movie DID get some bad rewievs, But generally Dan was getting positive rewievs, some bad although, but generally positive rewievs for Dan himself…I haven´t seen neither DB or DL so I can´t compare them to each other…But being an avid Dan fan (yes I admit that) I´m pretty sure I´ll like DB much better :-)

kyle: December Boys is not a flop. According to boxofficemojo, it has already grossed $482,589 = that’s the worldwide gross. (here’s the address:) http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=decemberboys.htm

That’s nothing to what OotP grossed worldwide but that’s still soo much better than what Driving lessons earned. DL has grossed around $1M already but that’s after more than a year in the theaters. DB has been released for not even 3 weeks yet and it’s already earned almost half a million dollars. And it’s not expanding to “100 cinemas” cause that is not the way indie films are distributed. DB opened to only 4 theaters in the US (and I’m still shocked at that cause OotP opened to 4,000 theaters. The difference is mind boggling. lol) and will expand to more but these more theaters are in different parts of the US not to the same place week after week. That’s why they are called indie films because the distribition is limited. ONly big budget movies open to 100 cinemas and more.

I know DB’s total gross is not very impressive but give the kid a break. It’s not his fault that the film is not very commercial. A real flop is Orlando Bloom’s “Haven” which grossed only $300,000 after more than a year of release. That only shows that popularity is not a measure of either boxoffice or critical success. And don’t tell me Rupert is more popular than Orlando. Crying “cheat” on this NMA awards is simply sour grapes.

No even indies expand like Little Miss Sunshine. I remember December Boys scheduled for expanding later and then moved and moved back week after week to finally October 5. And last week its not in October 5 expansion list anymore. They obviously did not expect it to hit so low. And the biggest total is come from Australia which is only natural because it is their movie makers. I was put domestic US total only, talking about only that. Its doing so bad now it might not last long in US cinemas. Its doing even worse in UK so I heard.

kyle, how is DB a flop when it has only open in 4 theaters in US, then it went to 8 theaters in it’s second week, and 13 in it’s 3rd week, WI is not a risky company, but noticed that in Australia the movie did wonderful in two weeks so far it has collected $347,538, I don’t know if this is because DB is an Australian movie compare to an English or American movie.

In December Boys Dan is not the main character he is not in all the scenes compare to Rupert who is the main character of the movie, and Rupert had 3 well known names in UK and US, Dan has not other big name in this movie, only Australians know the actors that are in his movie.

In UK December boys open in 76 cinemas with $46,448, but the following weekend WB reduced the cinemas to 38 and they got almost $40,000 making it in two weeks $82,000 in it’s 3rd week WB has only got 3 cinemas ending with $86,000.

I don’t know if WI was the right distributor for DB in UK and US, they always play save with distributions, compare to Roadshow who got the movie in more theaters for the Australian people, you can see the numbers in the Australia box office, DB is #9 for 2 weeks in a row, and this is because the movie was played in more theaters.

Another thing that doesn’t help DB is that the main page of WI does not give the fans a link of the cinemas or theater where this movie is playing, compare to Sony that posted the cinemas where DL was going to be play every weekend. I personally don’t know in what cinema is going to be playing, I go to yahoo enter my zip code and it doesn’t give me anything, but I cannot go entering all the zip codes around my city because I don’t know them, it might be playing on a cinema in my neighbor city but how in the world I’m going to know that…it is hard to find where this movie is playing.

Now DL had a great machinery behind for promotion, I remember Rupert and other cast member promoting this movie with months in advance, going to different film festivals to get distributors, this movie got into Tribeca and got a lot of attention for movie goers or Rupert fans, on DB case Dan did all the promotion for this movie in ONE week, ONE week he did 4 premiers, the LA premier wasn’t even announced, they did that one at the last minute, because it was suppose to be only a private screening but it was change to a premier the same day, there was no premier in NY or UK, only Sydney and in another city in Australia, but Australia is way too far from UK or US to ge the attention of English and American people, here in US we were bombarded with DB promotions just two weeks before the release of the movie, I think that was a huge mistake from WI, most people knew Dan did another movie but there was not promotions or reports or anything related to this movie, just 2 weeks before it’s release.. But with all these things against it, I think so far DB is doing good in Australia and I know it’s going to open in more theaters in US, one advice for Dan tho DO NOT make movies that involve WI, they have a very bad promotion machine going on.

Last week to open in UK is

October 12:

ALBANY CHARLOTTE CHARLOTTESVILLE CINCINNATI CLEVELAND HONOLULU INDIANAPOLIS KANSAS CITY LAS VEGAS MADISON MEMPHIS MILWAUKEE ORLANDO PITTSBURGH RENO RICHMOND SALT LAKE CITY SANTA BARBARA SPRINGFIELD, MA

but just because it opens in these cities it doesn’t mean it is going to open in many theaters in each city, it means it will open in 1 theater per city, usually art houses. I live in NY and I have not seen this movie yet because I don’t know where it’s playing!
