Thestralseyes I respect your opinion but i think you’re totally wrong. You CANNOT compare Dan Radcliffe to Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp. There is no way Daniel should have won. Just because he’s only 18 and is a millionaire doesn’t mean he’s acheived a lot, he still can’t act…at all! I have NEVER beleive that he is actually Harry Potter on screen, i keep thinking, nope its still Daniel trying to be Harry. I laughed my head off in POA when he was crying about sirius betraying his parents. it was so fake. There are many excellent actors who started at a very young age, for example Leonardo DiCaprio, who is absolutley fabulous in ever film he does. By the way, Rupert CAN act, its not his fault the scriptwriters make Ron say stupid things in the movies. If you watch Driving Lessons you will see Rupert display his acting abilities nicely. I personally can’t wait to see Rupert handle his difficult scenes in movie 7 and personally think I think he’ll be fantastic! I mean what the hell is Rupert supposed to do with that crappy script? As for the twins, you have your opinion and yes all they do is joke but I have a feeling that in movie 7 we will see the Phelps twins totally rock Deathly Hallows! Just because they’re characters laugh and joke a lot doesn’t mean they can’t act.

Kerrie, it makes no difference. The people, fans voted this way. No industry professionals or acting peers. Fans. Every day folk who go to the movies. They are the ones who voted and it just proves to the public and to the industry that HP is popular and the fans appreciate their performances. Our fans spoke louder than the Bond, Pirates etc fans. That’s all. If by chance Dan wins an Oscar one day against Johnny Depp or Daniel Craig then you can bitch and moan all you want. This is a fan appreciation award and nothing more. Live with it. Or next time Dan is up against your Daniel Craig, voice your opinion.

I waiting to hear your opinion when Dan is nominated for a theatre award for Equus. It could happen you know.

It seems people on this board could learn a thing or two by just watching the clips of the award show. Watch them in order of how they happene. Watch Dan win. Watch Emma’s joy for him. It looked like she was crying. Watch the handhake and hug bewteen him and Rupert. Then Watch the movie win, and then watch Emma win. She her give hugs to her costars first, even before standing up. She Dan’s happiness for her. Watch the misc. clips, watch the trio mug for the cameras,watch Emma poke Dan in the ribs and laugh with him at the jokes. Some of the most beutiful shots of Emma were when she was thanking David Yates and watching Dan walk to the podium. You can see the love these three have for each other. They are just amazing. Then come to leaky and read these comments. Its like a jack hammer to the heart, it really is. I think Dan, rupert, and Emma wouldn’t even call you fans.

Karrie is another soar loser, you guys sould drop the whole he cannot act and he can act, because it is gettin way too old…Dan has showed that he’s way better actor than Rupert, and Equss has prove that, sorry girl but that’s how it is, you can moan all you want, you can cry all you want, you can talk trash all you want, that won’t change the public prespective about Dan and wont’ change the way the critics are finally seeing Dan as a serious actor! so bitternes won’t help you grive girl!!

Thanks for respecting my opinion, Kerrie, but DAN CAN ACT. And greatly. It is funny how people interested in putting him down always stick to his weakest moment in a desperate attempt to make him look like a crap actor. He was awesome in OotP, if you don’t see it it is your problem. He was Harry for me from the beginning and but started to show his brilliance in certain scenes of GOF. What he did in OotP and specially in Equus was the prove that he is more than capable to pull off a character. I also saw a performance of Equus and that person on stage wasn’t Daniel Radcliffe but Alan Stang himself. And the standing ovation given by the theatergoes (no kids or fanteenies) was more than deserved. All that people know he can act, and so well to the point to make them raise from their seats to cheer him. He got rave reviews even from the critics who could destroy him if they wanted to do it.

And I saw DL, and I liked Rupert more than in HP but didn’t see that brilliance you mention. There was nothing really challenging there. And sadly I saw many of the acting ticks he has when playing Ron. I like Rupert but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be a professional actor.

But these awards are not for DL or Equus but for OotP. And there is no way Rupert could beat Dan in this. Harry was a very difficult character to play and Dan nailed it. Rupert was better than usual (he was pathetic in GOF, and some people call that acting snorts) but still wasn’t at a level enough to beat Daniel.

And you would be surprised if you knew how many adults (both male and female) have voted for Dan as best actor. It amazes me how people think that Dan fans are mainly kids. Some people live in their ivory tower without realising that he isn’t the kid of the first film any more and he has gone a long way as an actor since then. And certainly his portrayal of Alan Stang made him win a lot of new adult fans. I am not surprised at all of him winning this.

Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp are great actors but I agree with something somebody said before: if we just vote for the name, the same people would get always the awards. It is Johnny Depp or Daniel Craig, so give them the awards even if they do a crap job. It is not the case, though. But Radcliffe had a hard job ahead and did an excellent job of it. Kudos to him for winning this.

The twins. All we can expect for them is to be good in DH. I don’t see acting abilities in them and can’t understand why you say their are the best out of the HP kids when we saw NOTHING to show their brilliance.

And people, if you really think Daniel Radcliffe can’t act and you hate him as it seems, prepare yourselves for a sour future.

I don’t hate dan radcliffe, but I can’t see all the brillinace some prople’re talking about, people were laughing at my theater at the scene when Vold went inside him, lol. Sorry, I don’t mean to sound disrespectful, but sometimes I have a feeling that people are talking about a completely different person or thing. I don’t think Rupert is brilliant either, but I think he does things with a tad bit more ease and naturalness than Dan. Emma, IMO should have won something for most talnted acrobatic eyebrows, lol.

BTW, as far as I know, Dan didn’t get half the good reviews he got for Equus, for OotP, so I think whoever directed Equus should have a go on HP, maybe we’d be able to see those said hidden talents they talked about!

Let me try again (for the last time) to answer about the Emma issue for Mele: Both Emma and Rupert are exactly in the same position: both being secondary characters and secondary cast. But Emma overshadows Rupert in terms of awards and media mileage eventhough they are all given the same promotions. Rupert is second billing to Dan and maybe receives more pay than Emma. In terms of screentime, I won’t mention the films where Emma has less screentime than Rupert cause I’m sure you won’t remember. In terms of of publicity, they are all given the same promotional shots and always presented as the trio.

Now, here comes the thing that some people don’t seem to grasp with their 1/4 brains. It is not Emma’s fault that media outlets like Teenvogue crop Rupert out and just present her with Dan. That’s not “focused promotion” but simply that Rupert is not cover boy material while Emma is a cover girl material. Emma clicks with the critics, media and the moviegoers more than Rupert. There were even times when she’s more popular than Dan in the polls and surveys. But this is not a matter of being “first girl” or of being “female lead”. katie Leung was topping the search engines when the first pics of the “kiss” surfaced on the net. it’s matter of star power (for Dan anyway) and curiosity generated by the media.

IN a nutshell, I am saying that whatever achievements Emma has gained should not be attributed to her being only “first girl” or “female lead”. Obviously I am an Emma fan but I feel that you should not denigrate her triumphs to something simplistic as “she’s the female lead” reasoning. Rupert was also nominated in the NMA so forget the “he’s only a secondary character” crap. POint is, Rupert doesn not have the looks, charisma, and talent that would make waves enough for him to be recognized by mainstream moviegoers and media.

Mark, Dan got almost 90% positive reviews for OotP, so far Dan has gotten the highest reviews in OotP compare to the other HP movies..and for Equus he got 99% positive reviews…..

I don’t care that Rupert is always overshadowed . In my opinion , Dan’ character was written so good but Dan can’t portray full of it . In the cinema , when he cried , my friends and I weren’t feel any emotion . On the other hand , in fact Ron is more important than Her but the movie made it vice versa . They made Ron so stupid in sometimes . I think that Rupert did only act like scenario , but also try to make up his character . I really love Dan and Emma ! They re very nice and sweet but I have never though they can act . They were just made up by media . I voted for JD and I feel very sorry for Rupert . At least he is the best of trio . If he wanted , he could wear Chanel , Armani , etc … and make himself like a star , but he just want to be himself with his comfortable clothes . I believe Rupert will become success if he has an opportunity !!

Whose book is Emma Watson taking a leaf out of? Britneys? Having seen some screen caps,it certainly seems so. A dress which looks like a cross between a raincoat,a plastic bag and an oversized men’s shirt… For someone who recently modelled Chanel dresses, appeared on the cover of Tatler and has her pick of top designers why this blue miscreation which any decent stylist would dump in an op-shop? This piece of designer’s artwork also caused some embarassing wardrobe malfunction as the wearer proceeeded to throw herself at co-star Rupert Grint. Well, she was obviously overcome by emotion. Daniel Radcliffe seemed bemused, while the on-lookers behind them seemed to be either amused or appalled. Wardrobe mishap and behaviour aside, congrats to all nominees and winners.

Eh, sorry dear dayanara, but I think you’re a bit blinded with emotions, and a bit ignorant about the real market rules. You seem to fuss a bit too much about the technical suppoesed-to-be market rules. Maybe you still go to school? Reality is a totally different deal sweety. Any other girl in Emma’s position, with some decent looks, would have earned the same place due to her “First Girl” status. And any other boy in Rupert’s place, even if he was the most handsome thing your mind can create, he would have also been in the same place. (and this’s amusing that you say that Rupert doesn’t have the looks or charisma or talent, when even in his very short role in OotP, ALL my female friends remembered him, and adored him to pieces! Even though some of them were watching HP for the first time)

IMO, you’re too blinded by your personal liking for Dan & Emma and disliking for Rupert, to see things as they really are, and to admit the real market rules and facts.

Conversations go in circles every time there’s a news story about the trio. Lets just congratulate those who won say “that’s too bad” for those who didn’t and get over it. This was a popularity contest. No disrespect to Dan and Emma because it is still an honor to know the fans appreciate them, but the award was not talent based. So why in the world are you arguing over talent?

Harry Potter actors won because Harry Potter is at its highest popularity. In all honesty Dan should have won the award because he is the main star, and he has the more difficult role to play. Regardless if Rupert could pull off the role, he didn’t play it so we don’t know. You give an award for the role they played not the one they would have if they got the chance. Therefore, Dan got the award, and he deserved it over Rupert. Emma is the main female lead in the series, like it or not. She just is. So is Hermione. If there was a literary award for best female performance wouldn’t Hermione be nominated (if of course Harry Potter was nominated)?

As far as media exposure goes, I think Rupert is perfectly fine with what he’s given so why all the fuss. Rupert is not a talkative media celebrity. He often looks uncomfortable doing it and is probably just waiting until the interviews are over because they seem to make him nervous. Dan and Emma are much more comfortable with interviews which is why they get more (they probably offer). The more you get your face out there, the more people see it. Thus when they see your name on a ballot they’ll remember you. Dan and Emma have more classic good looks (don’t beat me down because I think Rupert is very attractive, actually more-so than Dan, but not in the traditional way) and they have more charisma which makes them more appealing to a mass media market. They get the magazine covers and spreads because they give very long and thought out interviews and they’re comfortable with photo shoots. Rupert seems like he prefers not to do them, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but the result is that a lot less people are exposed to him and thus are not aware of him enough to vote or to request more interviews and photo shoots.

You really shouldn’t be pitting them against each other because, as was mentioned above, if you actually watched the ceremony they all looked very very supportive of each other and would probably be shocked at all this fighting about who’s better than who. None of them are great actors, they’re all acceptable, IMO. All three seem like lovely people.

Oh, and Emma’s dress isn’t that bad. At first I thought it was weird but after seeing it in a few more pictures and live on the show it looks nice on her. Although I’m not too sure about the very top. And what was the “malfunction”? Was it just her legs showing? She seemed too caught up in the moment and wasn’t paying attention. It wasn’t the dress’ fault because that would have happened if she was wearing any other dress that was above her knees.

I watched the awards show on Saturday. It’s great that they won those awards. They deserve it.

Dan and Emma re more confident ==> Agree … but Rupert is the BEST actor of trio . I believe he will get his time in HBP and DH . He always win in my heart !!!
