Carlsen, the publishers of the Harry Potter novels in Germany, have released the cover art for their adult editions of the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. You can view the cover art for this edition here in our Image Galleries.
Readers will recall cover art for the standard edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallowswas chosen via vote last month and can be seen right here.
I agree the US cover is by far the most majestic, epic and almost biblical looking cover. But this German cover is pretty cool too and would say is the second best of the DH covers.

I liked the US cover best… Until I read the book. It is misleading, kinda weird and really makes not a lot of sence. Whilst this picture does look fairly generic, random and kinda ammatureish, I do like it, just not love it. I was pretty impressed with the Dutch cover actually, if only the dragon hadnt been so PokeMoney it would be my favourite DH cover (it fits the story and looks pretty cool) but for now I’ll have to stick with the UK Adult, which seems to be the only one to work even if it isn’t very exciting…
there’s a lot of hypercritical commentary going down in here… especially the knock on the museum-going public. if you like the book cover, awesome. like it. if you don’t, also awesome. don’t like it. but no need to knock the opposing viewpoint into submission or use derogatory comments towards them.
I’d like to see what the sales figures are in the UK and the other countries that release the two different covers for kids and adults. I wonder what the ratio is.
I’m with Katie on this one—looks like a student photoshop experiment.
Not a big fan… and while we’re guessing who’s holding the sword (which could be the fake) couldn’t it also be Bellatrix? It was in her vault.
why would it be anyone but harry holding the sword? the book is named after him; there’s no reason it should be a representation of anyone else.

This cover is incredible! I know some of you guys don’t like it, but it doesn’t look anything like a ‘childish experiment’ or whatever! It has imagery that is merely suggestive and impressionistic. That’s probably why so many of you didn’t like the epilogue… it wasn’t spelled out in perfectly solid terms… it required imagination. I LOVE THIS COVER!

I wasn’t too interested in looking at most of the foreign covers, because I thought, “They’re probably not going to be about Snape, as Snape is not in the book very much.” But this one is about Snape! Oh Yeah! Go Snape! Sehr gut!
"I'll go starkers before I put that on," said Ron stubbornly.[br]"Don't be so silly," said Mrs. Weasley. "You've got to have dress robes, they're on your list!"
WOOO!! That is badass, absolutely love it. The Silver Doe is an amazing chapter, and an interesting cover choice.
OOH! What if it’s Snape holding the sword, eh eh? Nice.
