The Grey Lady

It’s pretty cheesy in my opinion.A bit too literal for my liking.I far prefer the British cover art.

I like the American covers too, although they give away the ending.

Wow. Much better than the children’s cover. I totally love that they put the silver doe on it.

I did not know the German translation came in an adult version too.

This is soooo much stronger then their children edition, which is just utterly crap. By choosing a picture of a deer at the seashore they did however sacrifice contence for pitoreskness, the whole makes a strong image, but an ordenairy doe on the beach has nothing in common with a Patronus in the woods. The sword however works magic.

I like the doe, too, put the sword does not really look like Griffindor’s sword to me…

Yeah I like this cover. I’d have liked to have seen the Silver Doe on the Adult UK edition actually I think the locket was a bit too predictable and pedestrian. All my books are actually the childrens images, for consistency, however I may have also bought this one. Imagine the speculation and theorizing we’d have done if the Doe HAD been the UK adults cover!

I did like the US version as it was good for the speculation and the artist did state that everything she included was there for a purpose. What has annoyed me since though is that according to canon, Harry would have had Draco’s wand in his hand at the moment the cover is meant to represent. It was very misleading.

It’s a pretty decent cover compared to their children’s version, other than that I don’t find it very spectacular. The doe and moonlight I like, and the foresty background and moon/sun – however, I don’t like the hand and sword. The sword is to thin to be the broadsword or regular sword that it is (in the time of G. Gryffindor, it would be very heavy and violent) and the hand looks… terrible. I think I might be missing some wrist or arm. YIKES IT’S A FLOATING HAND WITH A DECORATE SWORD!!

I’m sorry John, didn’t mean to offend anyone. I just think the museum-going public are often more amusing to look at than the paintings. Anyway, I think most people just like their countries own book cover best. well accept for the french and german kids-edition that is. I bet even people from france and germany think those are ugly. (I might be wrong though)

I still can’t believe the US cover shows the very moment that Voldemort dies! Harry is reaching up to catch the Elder Wand which means Voldemort has already been hit by his own Avada Kedavra. This moment is going to look pretty cheesy and weak onscreen in the film IMO. Not that I don’t love the book but the moment where Voldemort bites it was a little underwhelming in the end. Can’t believe it didn’t involve the DoM or anything, that it simply relied on Draco disarming Dumbledore of the Elder Wand on the Astronomy tower, then Harry overpowering Draco in the Malfoy Manor, thus gaining the Elder Wand’s allegiance himself and so saving himself because the Elder Wand will not attack its master. I suppose this kind of shows that the book, and the whole story, wasn’t really about defeating Voldemort. After all, he proved what an idiot he was in the end when he STILL tried to AK Harry even though Harry had just laid it all down about the Elder Wand. There’s just something a little ‘off’ about it.

If I wanted to buy a German copy, I would certainly choose the adult cover. Much better than the children’s cover. Not really great, but okay. It reminds me of something else though. I don’t know, maybe a book or movie about King Arthur.

That whole cover is the Silver Doe chapter, and I believe that is Snape holding the sword! That is so much more beautiful than the American covers – gorgeous. My dream: May the Silver Doe Appear on All Future Versions!
