There is more news today regarding the anticipated release date of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD. While previously there had been reports of a release date in early November, including from Amazon UK, today DVDActive has received the artwork for the discs including the high definition formats, along with a new release date of December 11. You can see this artwork here. Update: Coming Soon is also now reporting this as well.
What is interesting in the news from DVDActive are some new details about items to be included, such as the “Trailing Tonks feature with Actress Nat Tena, various making of featurettes, and a Fun and Games feature in which director David Yates and editor Mark Day show us what a difference a good edit makes and allows you to edit a scene.” Of note is the inclusion of a documentary from A & E, the one that aired over the summer featuring our Floo partner and Lexicon founder, Steve Vander Ark, and the Coming Soon report says this documentary is “The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter” in which look for clues in the past Harry Potter films for what the future films may hold. Another feature is an “In Movie Experience,” in which you join the cast from Dumbledore’s Army as they come together to share memorable moments
We are trying to get more information on all of this, so stay tuned! Thanks mango!
No i don’t think its that bad, i quite like it actually, but i must admit i thought it should of had umbridge or even luna on the front of it, aswell as the others. I mean they are key characters in this film!!!
I can’t wait till december!!!! PLZ HURRY UP!!!!!!! :(
I don’t thing that’s real, because the brazilian Warner has already contacted Potterish.com (according to them) saying that the dvd will be released here by november 14th
hmm, could this info possibly be for the HD/Blue Ray disc only? And the standard 2-Disc might have a different release date, different cover art, different features..?
I like this cover artwork a lot more then that other rumored one that was floating around. That one looked too much like the artwork for Goblet of Fire. I like the colors used for this one, and it’s a better picture of the trio.
The features sound decent, but again not nearly adequate for a blockbuster movie the size of Order of the Phoenix. It again seems to be lacking in the area of substantial making-of material. Instead we’ll just be getting a few “featurettes” instead of true documentaries.
Oh well, I suppose they are saving all the really good special features for the future extended editions, which we know are coming.

Guys, the DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray covers are REAL! DVD Active is an actual reliable source for upcoming DVDs, and the OOTP DVD release is no exception. All of the extras from the 2-disc edition will be included on the high-def formats, but the “In Movie Experience” is exclusive to the HD-DVD (and probably Blu-ray too) release only.
The only OOTP DVD artwork we haven’t got yet is the single-disc artwork (separate full-screen and anamorphic widescreen edition) and the back art for all the video formats OOTP is being released in. Usually, Warners provides the back art for their recent movie DVD releases nowadays but I don’t think we’ll get the back art when the single-disc artwork is released.
And why the complaining about the DVD artwork? It looks perfectly fine to me (it’s a international poster), and it’s a heck of a lot better than the U.S. one-sheet (boring) and the horrible Swedish artwork (Photoshopped to no end, yuck!). And this is the artwork used for the DVD release in Brazil too.
can anyone tell if we’re going to have cast interviews on the regular 2 disc dvd? i’ve loved those from the past two releases, they’re the best part of the extras.
I guess the problem i have with the cover is that they just took three separate pictures of the trio, adn put them together. at least the us one sheet had all six of them, and it looked pretty cool in my opinion.
I don’t know if I believe this. Amazon Germany still lists 16th November as a release date for the German DVD. And 11th December is too late for the pre Christmas hype.
ew gross. that’s my least favorite of all the possible covers.
