In this contest, we asked you to share with us your memories of the big events this fandom gave us in 2007 using one of the three mentioned mediums. You responded by sending us many moving, humorous, and special entries in all categories; the winners are as follows:

Oh, mollywobbles23, that was beautiful! It brought me to tears to read how HP brought you and your father closer together. May your memories bring you peace forevermore.

Thestrals by mollywobbles23 was an amazing composition! It was beautiful yet heart-wrenching. I’m glad Jo wrote her last book quick enough for your father to read the series for the last time. It seems HP was a huge part in both of your lives. May he rest in peace, and may you treasure Harry Potter and your father’s memories forever.

Guys! Those were amazing. The drawing had me laughing aloud and get funny looks from my family; the video reduced me to tears (getting more looks from my family); and mollywobbles23….That was absolutly beautiful. Your peice of writing left me breathless. Amazing work. It’s wonderful that your dad and you were so close.

Mollywobles23 I am sorry you have to see Thestrals but I am glad you had the time you did to enjoy HP with your dad. He is probably watching the filming of HBP and thinking of how much you will love it. Save a seat for him when you get to the theater for HBP he will be with you.

StarRose-Your video was touching. I will always keep a part of HP with me. In a year of darkness HP was my light. Your song choice was so perfect.

Mollywobbles, Thankyou for your piece. It was beautiful in its honesty and I can not seem to stop crying after reading it. Like you, I forced my dad to read book 1; needless to say he fell in love at first read. He even had to spread the word as well and made his brother read it. He has gone with me to every midnight release and movie premiere and shared his theories all along. It has been a huge source of memories for both of us. I am so happy your dad was able to finish the series. “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” -Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Molly – that was a wonderful piece of writing, it was honest and true, making me weep …...... Your Dad would be so proud of you and think what a fantastic daughter you are. My very best wishes for 2008 – remember the good times with your Dad and let the happy memories begin to heal the loss and pain.

Mollywobbles’ essay made me cry! It was really beautiful, thanks for sending that in. : )

    Avatar Image says:

The video and writing both made me tear up! And I love Rudi’s drawings =)

mollywobbles your piece was really touching, especially as my Uncle was a big fan; he died a couple of months after Half-Blood Prince came out so he never did get to find out the ending. I’m glad that your Dad did and my thoughts are with you!

    Avatar Image says:

Oh my goodness! Those were the best! My eyes are shining with tears. I especially blubbered over the video. Just brilliant! Great choice of song for the video. Congratulations to all! Well done! To The Boy Who Lived … may he ever live in our hearts.

What a fabulous job the judges did selecting these entries! I’m sure that they received quite a number and they chose diverse and deserving pieces. I especially enjoyed reading Mollywobbles essay. It’s simple narrative style allowed total strangers (such as myself) to feel both joy and sorrow for hersituation. It was quite excellent. Mollywobbles: Thank you for generously opening up your life to us. Be well!

I’m pretty sure Jo is sobbing over “Thestrals” right now….HUGS

“Thestrals” was beautiful. I just read it. And I’m not entirely coherent right now, because of the large lump in my throat. XS

    Avatar Image says:

Loved “thestrals” by mollywobbles23! It was beatiful!!

    Avatar Image says:

mollywobbles23, that was one of the most beautiful things I have ever read in my life. You made be cry. Not many written things can do that.

The drawing by Rudius Hagrid brought me to laughter and the video and writing by StarRose and mollywobbles23 brought me to tears. Good job to all of you. Especially mollywobbles23, thanks for sharing your story, it truly was moving, and I am glad your father was able to finish the series.

    Avatar Image says:

    Beautiful, touching tribute, mollywobbles23!

    Avatar Image says:

Mollywobbles – thanks for sharing. Lovely. It must make people like Jo and Evanna Lynch so proud and touched to see how much their performances and writing touches other’s lives and becomes so integral. Yes the small things do matter and death is yet another great adventure. I personally love the morals and themes Jo weaves through her book like courage, honesty, friendship and bravery. So uplifting and a crack of light in a world often media focused on the darker sides of life.

    Avatar Image says:

Mollywobbles, that was beautiful, just very touching, im very glad that you made such a difference in your father’s life with this series and as others have commented, i sincerely hope that jo reads this story and knows how much you really have been touched by this story

    Avatar Image says:

Oh my goodness. That was a beautifully written reflection, mollywobbles23! That brought me, and as well as many others, I’m sure, to tears. I, personally, am not able to thestrals at the moment, but I will remember what you wrote when that time comes..

I also really liked how you demonstrated the deeper side of Harry Potter. This is the side that I usually have a hard time explaining to non-HP fans. Thank you for doing so, and more power to you!

    Avatar Image says:

OMG! Wow! I totally didn’t expect this! Thank you all so much for your kind words! Wow!

    Avatar Image says:

I would just die if I knew Jo read it, Melanie!

    Avatar Image says:

Oh my gosh, StarRose, the video was touching! It brought chills to me!

    Avatar Image says:

those were all amazing. Congrats to all of you!

    Avatar Image says:
