The seventh book in author J. K. Rowling’s series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” has been nominated for two awards in the preliminary ballot for the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America’s Nebula Awards. This non-profit group which aims to bring together the ‘most successful and daring writers of speculative fiction throughout the world,’ presents awards each year to a particular novel, novella, novelette, script, and short story that eligible voters have deemed the best of the year. “Deathly Hallows” has been nominated in the Best Novel category among many other notable fantasy and science fiction works from 2007. In addition to this nomination, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” has also been included in the running for the Andre Norton Award, which was established to ‘recognize outstanding science fiction and fantasy novels that are written for the young adult market.’ More about the Nebula Awards, including its past winners, can be found right here.

The awards ceremony will take place during the weekend of April 25th in Austin, Texas. The winners will be chosen by eligible members of the SFWA when the final ballot is published prior to the ceremony.

Many congratulations Jo!

It’s an honor enough just for her to get nominated—good for her, I really hope she gets them, as she deserves the further honor of receiving the awards.

This is off topic: but i’ve just watch summerhill and i thought jessie was very good. Although it’s only the first episode, i thought she played her part really well and definitely doesn’t look 20! i think she’ll do great in HBP! there was this scene where she was snogging a guy!LOL did’nt expect that for a childrens programe!!! so she will have had experience for kissing rupert! lol

Am I the only one who thought for a moment that the title was a confirmation of a two-part Deathly Hallows movie?

I doubt she will receive the prizes… she is too popular and doesn’t need recognition anymore. The not so well known authors – on the contrary – yes.

Avatar Image says:

Way to go Jo! You deserve all this recognition for your years of hardwork and ending the series so brilliantly

I loved the 7th book , it was so moving and a great way to end the series. Lots of things happened that I wanted to, Like I wanted Lupin and Tonks to get married – turns out they even have a baby thats even better! AND my darling Snape becomes HEADMASTER, wow talk about continuous promotions! And we get a little (more like big) hint from Bellatrix just who her one true love is, I think if she could’ve she would have been Mrs. Bellatrix Riddle. Not to mention the tons of other stuff that happened! Congrats Jo thanks a million.

i wanna know what happened to Bella’s husband…

you totally deserve it jo! to the people talking about young adult vs. childrens: my library system has 1-4 shelved in children’s and 5-7 in young adult.

Avatar Image says:

Wow. That’s bigtime. If she wins the Nebula….that would just be incredible.
