According to United Agents, a literary and talent agency in the UK, actress Suzanne Toase has been cast in the part of Alecto Carrow for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The website indicates she is currently filming her scenes as one of the Carrows, the brother and sister Death Eaters who take part in the dramatic events at Hogwarts which occur at the end of the book.

On a related note, on this same website, there is a new photo of actress Jessie Cave, who portrays Lavender Brown in “Half-Blood Prince.”

Jessie’s picture is really pretty!

Suzanne seems perfect. I’m not so sure about Jessie for Lavender. She seems to be a little too pretty, in my mind.

Avatar Image says:

Suzanne Toase will fit my image of Alecto Carrow. It’s a close match to what’s in my head. But now I want to know who has been cast as the brother!! But any good movie news excites me!! = ]

Wasn’t Lavendar Brown black in the books? Maybe I’m confused.

Avatar Image says:

I guess I can see her as Alecto. Lavender was never actually described in the books. Her role in the film has always been just a background character so far and has had a black girl in the role before. Just like with POA, they had cast a girl for Parvati and when they went to Hogsmead there were a second East Indian girl with her, who was presumably Padma, but I don’t recall her being credited as such. Then they recasted both for GOF. They don’t seem to think things all the way through for casting unless the character is going to have more than a throw away appearence or line. Except for casting all the Gryffindor boys in Harry’s year.

Avatar Image says:

So thats both Carrow’s cast. Isn’t Finnchy from the Office not Amycus? I believe Lavendars colour wasn’t said in the books.

Avatar Image says:

Hasn’t Ralph Ineson been cast as Amycus? Thought I read that somewhere.

Avatar Image says:

Hm.

My post was deleted.

Hurrah for Ms. Toase.

207 days.

Avatar Image says:

What I don’t get is that Amycus’ dirivative of his name, or ‘amicus’ means friend. Perhaps it was a coinscidence. Another thing I noticed in Jo’s naming is that many of the Harry Potter character’s name derive from the Greek Myths, take for instance Draco’s son, Scorpius Hyperion: both of the names have extreme Greek Mythological meaning.

Oh wait, there’s my post. I’m losing it, sorry.

Never mind. ::slinks away::

Avatar Image says:

both look totally awesome for the part, i think jessie is perfect ,i watched summerhill on youtube and watched her performance, shes very good. And she seems like she can play the kinda snobby/ all about looks/ i can have any guy kind of girl :)

p.s WON WON

Avatar Image says:

If I’m not mistaken, Bonnie is under the same agent too, United Agents.

Avatar Image says:

Actually she looks a bit like how I imagined Umbridge, only younger, no? Maybe that’s just me. But I can see if she’s made down (as opposed to made up) how she can fit Alecto.

Jessie is so pretty :D I can’t wait to see her as Lavender.

Avatar Image says:

WOw! Jessie is really pretty! She’ll be a good Lavendar, though I hadn’t imagined her as pretty, but then, she is someone who’s quite into her looks, so I guess Jessie’ll be perfect!

Carrow is great too! Good casting here! :-D

Avatar Image says:

Yeah, she tottaly looks like a younger version of Umbridge!

Avatar Image says:

She looks perfect! Suzanne Toase…name rings a bell for something…

Avatar Image says:

I always imagined Lavendar as a pretty girl – I imagined her blond too, so this actress really fits my image. That’s why Ron spends so much time “snogging” her without really having deeper feelings – it’s all about physical attraction. I think that’s why Hermione is so absolutely angry and jealous too.

Avatar Image says:

yeiii!! i love that a lot of details are being included in HBP because that only means that DH will have a lot of characters that I didn’t think that would be in the movie…

Alecto is perfect… she has the perfect b”!#ch face hahahaha…. and i thought about Umbridge too!!

Avatar Image says:

Suzanne Toase as Alecto Carrow is perfect, in my opinion… And she really does look like a younger version of Doloris Jane Umbridge!... Jessie Cave looks good too, I didn’t picture her in my mind THAT pretty… But “Prenz” has a point: Lavender Brown IS into looks, so, I think she’ll be great! Claire: about Lavender Brown being Black. Doesn’t J.K. Rowling say if there Black?... For instance: ‘And now there were only three people left to be sorted. “Thomas, Dean,” a Black boy even taller than Ron, joined Harry at the Gryffindor table.’ Perhaps I am wrong?

Avatar Image says:

they both look about like what i figured for the roles they willplay, would have liked to see color photos though, and i agree lavender “lav lav” brown should be rather pretty as she seems to be protrayed that way in the books

Avatar Image says:

Ava, not necessarily. That description of Dean Thomas as black is not in the UK edition for example. But when they first cast him apparently they chose a white boy, and Jo told them to recast. So I assume that she would say if the casting was ever wrong to that extent. The only people described as black in the UK edition (as far as I can remember) are Blaise Zabini and Kingsley Shacklebolt. There’s a hint that Angelina Johnson is black from something Pansy Parkinson says but I don’t quite remember it being specific.

Avatar Image says:

Claire, I remember thinking the same thing. I don’t know why I thought Lavender Brown was black; but, I was certain that she was. At least that’s how I had pictured her in my mind.

Avatar Image says:

Claire, I remember thinking the same thing. I don’t know why I thought Lavender Brown was black; but, I was certain that she was. At least that’s how I had pictured her in my mind.

But Suzanne should be awesome as Alecto! She looks perfect.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, I did not know that…I thought that the US and the UK books were pretty similar… Maybe I’ll try and get my hands on the UK versions, I would absolutely love to read them! Thanks, Anne.

Avatar Image says:

Gr8. Although I gotta admit, I don’t remember them from the books. Lol, hehe, hope it’ll be good.

Avatar Image says:

I imagine Lavender is fairly pretty based on the way she acts and the way people act around her in the books. I did imagine her as blonde! I thought Alecto would be just hideous, but I suppose they can’t really cast someone like that. It would be an insult to the actress.

Avatar Image says:

Ralph Ineson plays amycus carrow. (imdb.com)

Avatar Image says:

I never imagined Lavender like Jessie, but then they can’t please everyone( I am one of the people who pictured Lavender Brown as darker skinned. I saw her as an older version on Lavender from Matilda). I reckon she’ll do a good job, which is what is important. Alecto and Amycus look brilliant, I can picture them looking very evil. Especially Suzanne Toase, she’ll look fantastic as Alecto.

Avatar Image says:

I think Jesse is a little too pretty for the part. I always imagined Lavender a little plumper, and not so sweet looking you know? The way she is described is kind of like an annoying fly that wont go away so for her to be really pretty i think takes away from that… But make-up does wonders

Live, Love Harry Potter!!

Avatar Image says:

in the US editions Dean Thomas and Angelina Johnson are bot black, but not Lavendar.

Avatar Image says:

this is all fine and great, BUT WHERE IS SCRIMGOEUR??? We need him to be there so fudge can be replaced.

Avatar Image says:

Peoples who think that Lavender Brown should be black , that is because some African – American girl had a cameo as her in the POA and now everyone thinks thats canon of the character- really though Jo never describes Lav’s appearance to us. I like Suzanne as Alecto, Bella is no longer the only female death eater. She does have a very strong resemblance to Umbridge so maybe that is a good sign she’ll be evil. I really like that they are putting in as many characters as they can for this one, it seems as though they are trying harder or something. I have never been disappointed with a casting so far- all I have to say is once they are cast keep the same person, unless they die- RIP Richard Harris. And yes get Bill Nighy out there to play Scrimgeour.

Avatar Image says:

Oh my god Jessie is soo pretty. =]

I don’t really like who they got for Alecto though… she seems sorta fat.. and how I pictured her is waaayyy different… I really wanna know who they got for Amycus. that IS how you spell his name right..? and OMG can you believe she used to play Dorethy in the Wizard of Oz? She changed soo much!!! haha. wow. XP

Avatar Image says:

Awesome. It’s exciting to get any news on HBP or DH for me. I can’t wait to watch it!

Avatar Image says:

this actress looks great as alecto, i think she’ll pull the look off really well, i couldn’t help but notice she’s only credited in theatre roles up until this point… maybe a film role just hasn’t come up until this point?? i think her eyes are perfect, didn’t jo describe them as little beady eyes?

jessie looks pretty in that photo!

Avatar Image says:

The books never state what colour Lavender is, in fact, I pretty much imagined her to look a bit like Jessie… but not as gorgeous as Jessie. The girl who played Lavender in the third film was black.

As for Toase, she looks like she’ll make a good Alecto

Avatar Image says:

I think Alecto would look a little more ugly and mean… I think Lavender might look a little stupider though, she’s pretty but doesnt fit the role.

Avatar Image says:

Jessie Cave is such a pretty girl. I’m amused by the comment that she doesn’t look stupid enough, LOL. I don’t think of Lavender as stupid. She’s silly and boy-crazy, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to dumb. And even if Lavender IS meant to be stupid, Ms. Cave is a professional actress; I’m sure she can pull it off “stupid”, however smart she may look in that photo. ;)

I’m glad they’ve cast Alecto Carrow as well. And I’m SO happy to be getting some HBP news.

Avatar Image says:

I clicked on the link for Suzanne Toase and I could think of was – WOW! Those eyes! If she can deliver on screen what she shows in that photo, she is going to be dead on as Alecto.

Avatar Image says:

I thought JK described Lavender as blonde at one point. I always imagined her that way, with sort of dark blonde hair contrasting alot with BFF Parvati.

Avatar Image says:

woow can’t wait to c her in the movies!

Avatar Image says:

Lavender Brown is going to be HOT! Suzanne Toase seems too young for Alecto Carrow. And I know for a FACT that Lavender wasn’t black in the books. I don’t know if the black girl in the movies is supposed to be Lavender. I always thought she was some extra and that Lavender wasn’t there at all.

Avatar Image says:

They say Angelina is black in Goblet of Fire (I’m American, so I don’t know about the British version), and yes, Pansy does make a snide comment about having “hair that looks like worms are coming out of her head”, or something like that. DO WE HAVE ANY PROOF THAT THE BLACK GIRL IN THE 3RD MOVIE IS LAVENDER BROWN? The character is never adressed as Lavender in the movie.

Avatar Image says:

Suzzane looks perfect for the part!! She seems like she could have the look of an evil, crazy person who would laugh at someone else’s torture! She looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see her in action!!

Avatar Image says:

Suzanne Toase MIGHT be a good Alecto. The only problem is that the actress is really pretty, and I always think of Alecto as being pretty ugly and toad-like. (The comparisons to Umbridge are apt). Hopefully Suzanne is sure enough of herself to let herself look unattractive in the movie.

Avatar Image says:

just wntd 2 say in reply 2 ava s message that nt always cos im frm englnd nd that prt wer dean cums up is cut frm the british book. sry, im a complete harry potter geek!

Avatar Image says:

I thought Lavender was supposed to be stunning in the books, basically the best looking girl in their year. And I really think Suzanne Toase will really look the part of Alecto, who I see as being ugly in personality (but not necessarily in looks, and it’s amazing what anger and cruelty can do to a face). She’s a theatre actress anyway, so quite an unknown quantity, which is rather exciting – I’m looking forward to seeing what she’ll bring to the role! Can’t wait for the film….!!!

Avatar Image says:

They’ve cast the carrows but they’re still not including the GAUNTS?

I still have no clue how they will attempt to explain Voldemort’s back story without the Gaunts. I guess they won’t bother explaining much of the back story about the Horcruxes or Voldemort. I’m already HATING this film!!!

Avatar Image says:

Oh my… Suzanne Toase is looking like Imelda Staunton’s little sister. Its startling how much she resembles her!

Avatar Image says:

I full heartily agree with you, Wendy. I’ve no clue how there going to put the whole story in the film, which is very sad, because the book is amazing…. I’m still waiting for Bill… How are they going to do ‘Deathly Hallows’ without Bill and Fleur’s wedding?

Avatar Image says:

@ Ava: Easy, they’ll just make it Lupin & Tonks’s wedding. And they can also just make Shell Cottage the home of Lupin & Tonks. Problem solved. I like Bill & Fleur, and I would have enjoyed seeing them in the movie, but they themselves are not important to the film. It doesn’t matter whose wedding it is, just as long as there IS a wedding.

As for the Gaunts, just because they haven’t been cast doesn’t mean they won’t be talked about, or that their story won’t be told in some other way. I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion just yet that the movie is going to be horrible just because this character or that character hasn’t been cast. It’s much too early, and we know far too little as of yet, to start casting judgments on the film.

Avatar Image says:

Saria: Yes, Perhaps they’ll do it that way, your probably right. Sorry…I’m not saying that the film’s are horrible, I just prefer the books…

Avatar Image says:

Suzy Im with you, you needed Lavender to be really pretty just to rub Hermione up the wrong way! and Toase looks perfect and yeah Finchy from The Office playing Amycus. He’s great at playing a snidey little b*d (didn’t want to offend anyone)

Avatar Image says:

@ Ava: Oh, no need to apologize! I was only trying to put things in a positive light and make you feel better about the film. I’m sorry if it came off like a reprimand. I actually prefer the books as well, but I do enjoy the movies. :)

Avatar Image says:

Saria: Oh! I wasn’t thinking you were reprimanding me, I was just saying I like the books better. Thanks, though… :) I enjoy the movies as well…But I haven’t quite gotten over what they did to ‘Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban’, it’s my favorite book and I feel like they butchered the film version! But that’s just me. I think alot of people loved that movie, personally, I think it’s the worst movie out of the bunch… I should start looking at the movies as a separate ‘Harry Potter’ thing, shouldn’t I?

Avatar Image says:

I think she looks perfect for playing Alecto…love that picture with that evil smile. ya, she is supposed to be not very nice looking but they’ll do a good job with makeup I’m sure!

Avatar Image says:

Wow! They both look great! I think she’ll make a perfect Alecto!

Avatar Image says:

Jessie looks really beautiful, and just right for the part of Lavendar, although she will have to work hard at acting air-headed and shallow.

Suzanne presents the make-up people with a much greater challenge, and she has a big acting challenge to. Jo describes her as “lumpy”, “cackling”, and “brutish and stupid”. That makes me think of her as being deformed and ugly, which isn’t how Suzanne appears at all.

Avatar Image says:

with the stupid law suit…JKR will soon be know as “She Who Must Not Be Named” among all respectable authors and readers.

May she rott in…well you get the point.

Avatar Image says:

bob , honestly? a little maturity would be welcomed. as far as casting goes ,wow , mini staunton , i had to blink for a bit because i thought i’d clicked the wrong page. with a ton of brutish makeup i’m sure she’ll do a great job but right now shes too preatty to picture as a cackling stump :\ and lol at the ” african american” comment , there are no americans in the film guys , your pc terms= fail here ya’ll
