not sure I like them

Avatar Image says:

ooohh!!! almost the first comment!!!! the action figures look a little bit funny… but the gryffindor common room set looks awesome though!!! :)

Avatar Image says:

These are a little odd. The Ginny one is downright disturbing.

Avatar Image says:

not so.. good.. sry.

Avatar Image says:

they didnt even try on ginny and hermione did they? hahah

Avatar Image says:

gryffindor common room looks pretty cool. the others are a bit.. :S weird.. especially the first ones. lol.

Avatar Image says:

oh dear!

Avatar Image says:

WHAT is that thing on Bellatrix’s head?! These are surprisingly bad given the level of craftsmanship of the NECA HP figures. In fact, I think Fisher Price figures have more detail than these.

Avatar Image says:

These don’t even look like the characters. Ginny, for example? The only ones that look okay are the Death Eaters – but that`s because they have masks on! & Hermione`s doll is outrageously funny. I mean, I didn’t even know that was her!

Avatar Image says:

gosh, why are they such bad quality?! and looks like HBP are introducing a new hogwarts uniform for the time when Tom Riddle was at school, a blazer this time i see, and back to the old grey! on another note, i really like the quidditch ones. and the gryffindor common room set has been out for ages.

Avatar Image says:
  • oh just saw, it says ‘re issue’ about the G. Common room ignore what i said ;)
Avatar Image says:

Wow, these are pretty bad. :(((

They are all pretty much made of fail.

Avatar Image says:

whoa, Bellatrix’s hair is WACKY.

Avatar Image says:

Hahaha these are awful. I collect a lot of stuff but these… no thanks xD

Avatar Image says:

No Draco? No Slughorn? And where is Snape in the collective picture? (Oh, that’s right – he wasn’t in the first movie trailer either.)

Avatar Image says:

WHY ARE THEY IN MUGGLE CLOTHES?! I’m sorry, that just REALLY bothers me.

Avatar Image says:

Oh dear, oh dear!

Avatar Image says:

Oh for heaven’s sake – they are not that bad. They’re just action figures. They don’t look any worse than any other. And really, those collectible ones that cost like $300.00 or so are ridiculous anyway. Also, why does it bug everyone when they are in Muggle clothes? In the books they wore muggle clothes sometimes. They weren’t in their robes 24/7.

Avatar Image says:

Their faces look a bit weird…. specially Bellatrix and Ginny! omg….

How cute is the one of Luna???? I want it! :)

Avatar Image says:

These are so not “action” figures! They’re just little statues! If, in fact, they were action figures, in sixth scale (Barbie-sized) so they could be played with, the fact that they’re mostly weird and ugly wouldn’t be a deal-breaker.

Avatar Image says:

These things are freaky! So far I’m not impressed. My 9 yr old laughed out loud at them!

Avatar Image says:

Bellatrix and Snape are quite good facially but the rest are dreadful, Ginny particularly so.

Avatar Image says:

My eyes!!!! oh my eyes!

Popco, sorry that’s a fail. Big time fail.

Avatar Image says:

What the heck are these? I could make them look more realistic and I’m terrible unartistic!

Avatar Image says:

These are kinda gross looking… And where is Draco? >.<

Avatar Image says:

Could have worse, could have been way better. I’m disappointed in Ginny. There is hardly anything out there of her and now this. And why is Young Tom the same height as Snape.

Avatar Image says:

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I only like the Gryffindor common room set and the Harry and Ron Quidditch figure.Oh and the Death Eaters. The rest look way to weird and nothing like their human counterparts.

Avatar Image says:

What’s with these creepy figures? They are totally unrealistic. Who would buy them? I sure am not.

Avatar Image says:

I Belive that young Tom Riddle is the Teenage version not the 11 year old version.maybe I think IDK.LOL.

Avatar Image says:

Sorry but the world is more complicated than just pass or fail. Anyone who just says fail needs to get rid of their simpleton brain. The phrase “Made of fail” just makes no since. Made of failure at least sounds grammatically correct-ish.

Avatar Image says:

WHOA! These look nothing like the characters. I think they could actually try a little.

Avatar Image says:

Now why did that get posted twice???

Avatar Image says:

Hate to say it, but some of these are really bad! What were they thinking?

Avatar Image says:

whoa, what’s up with all the HBP merchs?the calendars looked wierd and these figures are ridiculous XD

Avatar Image says:

The only ones I like are the death eaters and the Griffindor common room. This facial detail really stinks.

Avatar Image says:

I can’t believe I just spelled “Gryffindor” wrong. (Is it right this time?)

Avatar Image says:

Um, is that thing on Bellatrix’s head supposed to be her hair?

Avatar Image says:

What’s up with the Ginny figure?? I think I have that top thought XD I do like the Luna one though and the Death Eaters, I think I might buy them XD

Avatar Image says:

*though

Avatar Image says:

Hate to say it, but these are horrible

Avatar Image says:

Four times? I did NOT post that four times. Somethings wrong with my computer.

Avatar Image says:

Although I mosttime only being held back by financial limitatons in rounding up as much HP figures as possible, these ones I want to avoid. I find that sort of hipjoint extremely ugle, not only in the figures wbut in commic action figures in general.

Avatar Image says:

Posted by Albus Potter on August 29, 2008 @ 03:00 PM

think there’s nothing wrong with your computer, it just sensed how ugly you thought the figures are and wanted to express that. Me and your computer do agree..

Avatar Image says:

Why can’t they make the action figures look half way realistic? I’m really disappointed with them. Though the gryffindor common is room is cool. But again I really dislike the action figures.

Avatar Image says:

@ sgt_majorette: Given the odd “joints”, I’d say they are “action figures” of the type that young children love. Like the old ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of The Rings’ figures….not very good, visually, but give the “idea” of the character. I doubt that I, personally, would get them. But then, again, I wasn’t crazy about all the ‘Star Wars’ figures, either. They are, most likely, “mass produced” and they [the company] are not particular about the “looks”. Just sayin’

Avatar Image says:

The Hermoine looks nothing like her, and the Ginny is a little off, some are okay…

Avatar Image says:

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I guess Confederate Lady and I must be in the same age group. This is what we expect of “action figures” having grown up in the era of such figures being released with every movie starting with the original Star Wars of 1975 (or whatever). They never look exactly like the characters, but honestly, as far as such toys go (yes, toys) they really are not that bad (o.k., Ginny is kind of ugly). I also would not get them, nor have I ever purchased an action figure of any kind (not even for my son who is not into them). But you have to admit – Bellatrix’s hair is hilarious! It might be worth a purchase just to keep on your desk.

Avatar Image says:

Scary…

Avatar Image says:

I agree that they are pretty gross. We have to remember though that these are only about 3 inches tall. So Popco, these are NOT NECA, doesn’t really have much to work with. I still think that they need to redo Ginny. She look awful. I didn’t even think it was Ginny. Maybe Lav with straight hair or something.

I really like the Bella figure. He hair looks pretty much the same as the Bella’s in the movie.

But yes, just know that they are super small and that they don’t have much to work with. But Ginny needs to be much better. I don’t think she dyed her hair…

Avatar Image says:

Does anyone know if these figures are going to be released in the United States in addition to their release in the United Kingdom?

I completely agree that the detail could have been lots better; some of them do not look close enough to their portraying actor. However, I welcome these figures much more than I have with the ones produced by NECA. Why? Because the NECA figures were pretty much statues :\ I know that I’m too old for toys (I’m turning 21 in one month), but when I buy an action figure, I like to be able to play with it and move its joints a little. From what I can tell about these figures, their joints move much better than the NECA line.

Avatar Image says:

@Witchard: No they will not be avalible from what I can gather. NECA is release their HBP line in the exact same sizes. So, I am guessing that they will not be released in the US yet. I hope they are though!

And yes, I agree with you about the joints. NECA is nice for looking at but Popco is much better for playing and posing.

Avatar Image says:

I know these don’t look that great….now. I’m sure these are just the prototypes, a preview of what they might look like. I’m sure they will look better once they hit the shelves. The Bellatrix looks good, that thing on her head his her hair duh. That’s how it looks in the movie. Dumbledore looks like a robot. If you remember the OotP line they looked very good. I know there is gonna be a Draco and Slughorn, from reviews I’ve read. The review also said they are talking about a US release. I’m just gonna wait for them to be released before I make a final judgement

Avatar Image says:

The Ginny looks just Like Bonnie!! a brunette!! The jaw line is smaller though!!

Avatar Image says:

Great. More merchandise to be released without a movie, thanks to WB screwing over their merchandisers by pulling the film out from under them. Way to maximise WB’s profits and destroy the profits of their business partners.

It doesn’t help matters that the merchandise is pretty awful in this case. I wouldn’t have been able to tell who half of them were supposed to be if they hadn’t been labelled.

Avatar Image says:

EWWW THOSE ARE ALL UGLY.

Avatar Image says:

omg will everyine stop whining and complaining…i think they all look pretty cool!

Avatar Image says:

I don’t like them…they’re a bit lame. They made Luna look really retarded and Ginny has brown hair. What’s up with Bellatrix’s hair?? I’ve never really understood her…

Avatar Image says:

I TOTALLY agree with you, MattJ

Avatar Image says:

...that’s Ginny?! And Bellatrix is a Death Eater not a bird’s nest.

Avatar Image says:

Mommy, mommy! I want a Fenrir Greyback doll! All the cool kids have them!

(Aside—I think Bellatrix actually looks great. Take a look at her face. Very recognizable.)

Avatar Image says:

Yes Schmergo – that’s going to be the new action figure game. Let’s pose Fenrir Greyback attacking Harry. Maybe if we move Bellatrix’s arm up a little we can pose her trying to slash Hermione’s throat. And Death Eaters are always good for a little posed torture as well! I don’t even want to think about what the kiddies will do with Ron and Lavendar (sorry, couldn’t help myself – bad, bad – I’ll go bash my head against the wall now, oh wait, if I had a Dobby figure, I could do it to him!)

Avatar Image says:

EPIC FAIL.

Are we sure thats little Voldy and not random Hufflepuff #5? Because I see NO likeness to Hero whatsoever. And I love how the common room has one couch that takes up a third of the room. Bellatrix’s eighties hair also makes me giggle.

The best thing was, when I saw Hermione’s, the first thing I thought was, ‘Why are they making action figures of Michelle from Skins?’

Avatar Image says:

interesting they need to have there faces re done especially the female characters, although its hard to tell for luna as she hason those crazy spectre specs! I like that they have dumbledore’s wand hand haven been ruined as it should be , not sure it quite fits with how i pictured dumbledore’s hand to be. they have potential but they need more work

Avatar Image says:

why didn’t they show the fenrir action figure? they don’t look that bad, but Ginn’ys eyes do look a little creepy though.

Avatar Image says:

sml, you crack me up! hopefully the kids won’t do what i think there going to do with Ron and Lavender :( ali-son! you’re right about the hero action figure, it doesn’t even look like him! oh well!

Avatar Image says:

The Ginny one is the worst. Snape doesn’t look too bad. Young Tom Riddle is horrible. Yikes. These made me laugh!

Avatar Image says:

Do you people realize that these are not the same size as the NECA “figures”. These are 3-3/4” in size and are tiny. It’s also the second series for this line which began with the Order of the Phoenix. Those figures were beautiful, considering their size. For an upstart british toy company to produce something like these is pretty good considering they don’t have the resources of Hasbro or Mattel. In addition, these may not be available in the US if they are European exclusives, just like the OotP toys were.

Avatar Image says:

@Wildcard: Thank you. It seems people didn’t read my post. Hopefully they will read yours.

Avatar Image says:

hermione looks weird and geeky and ginny looks spooky!

Avatar Image says:

Why is everyone saying they look awful? These aren’t the real things, right OK these don’t look great but peopel should wait to see the final product. I have Bellatrix and she looks superb, differnt to that picture, I know these will look graet in person from popco’s other efforts. MOST of these pcitures look great anyway!

Avatar Image says:

I have seen an enlarged picture of the teenage riddle and he looks great. I actually like Hermione beacuse I know they’ll neaten her up. The only one I dont favour is Ginny. The quiiditch ones are paticulary suberb. Just wait and see the final product and then critisise.

Avatar Image says:

I feel so frustrated as do most Potter fans so why are we buying into this money machine called WB.

Avatar Image says:

hmmm…. they’re kinda weird… and Harry’s doll is ugly :D

Avatar Image says:

Must they be quite so disturbing? I mean, honestly. They look downright appalling.

Avatar Image says:

The Ron figures look really adorable. And don’t go complaining about Hermione—forget about any likeness to Emma Watson, she looks a lot more like Hermione from the books!

Avatar Image says:

Pεrhaps thεy arε still in thε εarly stagεs and thεsε arε just thεir prototypεs….I mεan, thεy still havε a whilε to work on thεm, now that thε moviε has bεεn pushεd back….

♥

Avatar Image says:

DUMBLEDOORS HAND!!! YAY!!!! And bella was cool exept for the nest on her head!

Avatar Image says:

I totally agree with Schmergo about the Hermione action figure. I’m happy she resembles Book!Hermione more. I love the Bellatrix, Luna, and the Ron (both casually dressed and Quidditch versions) action figures. I want to buy those!!!

Avatar Image says:

WOW…..... (that wasn’t a good wow) Did Bellatrix’s hair dryer blow up or something???? seriously…... and Hermione and Ginny don’t look like themselves at all…. why is Ginny’s hair BROWN, for crying out loud???

I know these are cheap, but they really suck.

Avatar Image says:

hahaha they´re just SO horribly hilarious! hermione and ginny look like they´ve just been whacked on the face, and Bella…hum…what´s that on her head again?

Avatar Image says:

Yay! I can have a threeway battle between young tom, Belatrix, and Harry like I’d always wanted to do!

What’s funny is that the Snape action figure looks better than the 150 dollar snape figure in the face…

Avatar Image says:

The thing on Bella’s head is her HAIR. The NECA figure has the exact same hair and the movie version of Bella has the exact same hair in the exact same style.

Avatar Image says:

Hi, D this JakPotter from VV Finally, someone told them! I can’t eblieve people were critiscing Bella!

You can’t really critisce them until seeing the fianl version, Bella is a really nice figure. The only one I don’t favour, by the pics, is Ginny. I thougt Hermione looked really like, well, hermione! I have the harry from popco and this new one is a repaint and trust me its not ugly at all. I think people see one or two bad figures and sart to ahte the lot, these still ahve time to become. People, don’t critisce until you see teh final products.

Avatar Image says:

wow some of these are just crapastic! And I really don’t like the old uniform with the blazer. I’d rather have seen Tom Riddle with robes on like in COS

Avatar Image says:

Wow and I never noticed Dumbledore’s hand, thanks for darwing my attention to that A.J.Chiller

Avatar Image says:

@JK: Hey! Yeah I agree with what you said. I’m quite happy with them all except for Ginny. And Ron’s eyes. I really like the Hermione figure.

Since I’m in the US I’ll have to get some help with these! I really want them!

Avatar Image says:

I really hope popco get these over to the US for you and the others. I just really hope wave 2 of HBP sees new characters, thsi wave seems to lack them. Also, I agree with what you said over at VV about the eyeshadow on Ginny, amkes her look to old but once we see her at the 12cm height she may look right, or at least better.

Avatar Image says:

The Ginny figure looks more like country singer Gretchen Wilson!

Avatar Image says:

How disappointing. Looks like mass marketing has finally eaten individualism and creativity.

Avatar Image says:

Those are terrible.

Avatar Image says:

what’s wrong with everybody? in the books bellatrix’s hair was straight . what’s up with the bird’s nest on her head?

if they didn’t say it was them, i wouldn’t recognise ginny and hermione. bad work

Avatar Image says:

My my! Don’t they look… dashing!? Lmao “What’s on Bellatrix’s head? It looks like a racoon or something! Is it just me or does the Ginny doll slightly unnerve anybody else? :)

Avatar Image says:

OMG i love the Rupert Nomal one and the Quidditch cloths to LOL they look so cute but i don’t really think they tryed on ginny or herminione and i love the common roon too…...... I really want ot get ron I love Rupert Grint (Ron).........

XxXTashaXxX

Avatar Image says:

I like the Griffindor Common Room, but the figures look – strange. Come on, design some ones that can Wizard duel with Barbie (She will learn to play nice next time), Ginny could battle G.I.JOE – even Ron could put up a good fight with Action Man.

At least a few of the LoTHR figures could come visit - Aragorn smoking his pipe - while Gandolf teaches the Weasley Twins some magic tricks!!!
