Details magazine has launched a new contest to win a trip for two to the New York City premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince next summer. Previously it had been thought the premiere of the film was to be in Los Angeles, California. However, with the move in release date to July 17 of next year, we are uncertain if this is to be the main premiere of the sixth Harry Potter film here in the States, or if one in LA is still on the agenda. More on that when we get it.

Winners of this new contest, entry form here, will win a three-day, two night trip to NYC, with round trip airfare and two night hotel accommodations, along with the special VIP tickets for two to the premiere of HBP. This contest is open to legal residents of the US, ages 18 years and older, and runs now until October 8, 2008. Good Luck!

Thanks to UHP for the link.

That would be fantastic to win.

Avatar Image says:

To bad that in order to enter the contest you have to subscribe to the magazine.

Avatar Image says:

Actually, you don’t have to subscribe. You can choose the 3rd option to just enter the contest. Just don’t enter in you credit card information. Also, according to the rules posted on the site, you have to be at least 21 to enter, not 18.

Avatar Image says:

No, there isn’t! You can just select the “just enter me into the sweepstakes drawing.” :]

Avatar Image says:

But why don’t they ask for your age then?

Avatar Image says:

OMG, i am sorry but another contest, which is only open to US residents, dude i am a hop over the boarder in Toronto, include us too please!!!

Avatar Image says:

I entered :) I’m 22…so all should be good with the dumb rules.

Avatar Image says:

karen, me too! So close, but a lot of awesome contests aren’t open to us Cadadians, lol.

Avatar Image says:

Why only U.S. residents? Lucky!! If only there was a way for the Canadians to go….

Avatar Image says:

I agree with karen, Canada doesn’t have its own premier so we should be invited too!

Avatar Image says:

Why only U.S. residents? Lucky!! If only there was a way for the Canadians to go….

Avatar Image says:

entered, by i wonder how they’re supposedly gonna make sure i’m 21 (i’m 22 so i’m good). i’m a little suspicious that they don’t check. i’m hoping it’s just because they plan to verify later..

and i hope they don’t find a way to send me a magazine and charge me anyway.. has had bad experiences with companies that do this

Avatar Image says:

I entered with out subscribing to the mag.

Avatar Image says:

18 and older! SWEET.

Avatar Image says:

I’m so excited it’s back in NYC. I went to the OotP one in California, but NYC is SOOOOO much closer to home. I have options other than an airplane.

But, perhaps if I enter this contest (and I stand a chance of winning WITHOUT subscribing, perhaps I won’t have to pay at all.)

Either way, it’s all good… :)

Avatar Image says:

wat ever happened to tht premiere in CA contest by Nick??? That one was for kids…..Im not 18… :( Is tht contest still going on??

Avatar Image says:

I’ll be 21 summer 2009, and since the premiere will take place in summer 2009, would that make me eligible to enter?

Avatar Image says:

Us in Montreal really would like to be included too! Haha, all the Canadians should get together and revolt with French copies of Deathly Hallows. Just kidding! Good luck to those who entered!

Avatar Image says:

it looks like 18+ here i copies the rules from the site: “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter and for full rules, go to men.style.com. Starts 12:01 p.m. EST 9/09/08 and ends 11:59 a.m. EST 10/08/08. Open to legal residents of the 50 United States/D.C. 18 or older, except employees of Sponsor, their immediate families, and those living in the same household. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Void outside the 50 United States/D.C. and where prohibited. A.R.V. of prizes $4,000. Sponsors: Condé Nast Publications, 4 Times Square, New York, NY 10036

Avatar Image says:

Heheheheheheheh… Ah, the joys of living in NYC. grin

Avatar Image says:

um i entered but i wont be 18 till may… i hope i can still possibly win…

Avatar Image says:

What?! A Harry Potter contest I can enter??? Be still my aging heart!

Avatar Image says:

I’m entered! YIPPEEEE. Now, if I can win….lots o’ smiles. :D

Avatar Image says:

the extra long detailed rules say 21 and older. i’m confused.

Avatar Image says:

I can’t imagine how excited I would be if I won this. :D I’m an “oldie” so I don’t have to worry about the age thing. I’ll be almost 28 by the time of the premiere headdesk

One has to wonder if they automatically exclude you if you don’t subscribe to anything, though. I know lots of things SAY they don’t, but can we trust them?

Avatar Image says:

I don’t know where people are reading “18 or older” because the rules say 21 or older at time of entry. Which, quite frankly, makes little sense considering the three principals of the film aren’t even 21.

Avatar Image says:

I think the purpose of the 21 or older rule applies to the demographics that subscribe to Details. I also thought there was going to be a LA premeire but we’ll see if that still happens. It was so much fun last year for OOTP! However, I am sure it makes sense doing the premeire in NYC since Dan would still be doing Equus at that time. Just hoping that it would happen in both areas! If not, I’m so willing to take a trip!

Avatar Image says:

Eh, I live here in NYC, so don’t really care =)

Avatar Image says:

Those in Ontario or other provinces are complaining, but even when a contest like this is open for Canadians, we here in Montreal or elsewhere in Quebec usually don’t get to participate because they don’t translate the contest in French. :(

Avatar Image says:

There are never contests for New Zealanders… sigh

Avatar Image says:

does this mean there will be no L.A premiere? because that’s wehre i am. is there any hope there will be a premiere for both because there was a contest earlier in march to win a trip to the la premiere.

Avatar Image says:

There is some confusion about the age you need to be to enter. In the blurb at the bottom of the entry form page, it says 18 and older. But when you click on the link “Official Rules,” the document that comes up says 21 and older. I’m guessing that the official rules are the correct ones, and you have to be 21.

The official rules also have this following bit of surrealistic unintended humor:

“CONSUMER DISCLOSURE

You have not yet won.”

Avatar Image says:

Oh, the official rules also say that you have to be 21 or older at_the_time_of_entry so those of you who said that you’ll turn 21 in May—nope, sorry.

Avatar Image says:

“2. ELIGIBILITY. This sweepstakes (the “Promotion”) is only open to residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are at least 21 years old as of the date of entry, except officers, directors, members, and employees of the Sponsor, the judging organization (if applicable), or any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, and the immediate family (i.e., parents, children, siblings, spouse), and persons residing in the same household, as such individuals. This Promotion is void outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and where prohibited.”

From official rules,

You have to be 21 and older

Avatar Image says:

Didn’t they have something like this a long time ago? The age was like 6 to 13 and whoever got it go to go to the premiere. Can someone answer me this when you go to the premiere: Does it mean you get to dress up and go in side of the theater and watch the movie: Or does it mean you get to stand behind the ropes and hope someone from the cast signs a peace of paper or takes there picture with you or just them or both?

Avatar Image says:

So there’s going to be a premiere in NYC AND LA?

Avatar Image says:

omfg that sux i live in australia im 14 and the premier would have been on my birthday now im depressed im gona go listen 2 the moaning myrtles

Avatar Image says:

wait…what if you’re under 18?

Avatar Image says:

You may be right, sus, and sometimes that happens. If it happens, this time, I really don’t care, cause I entered anyway! It feels good just to enter….don’t get me wrong: I’ll jump through burning hoops to get there, but like as not, I’ll not get to go. :( But I entered. As my mom always used to say [words altered, just a bit]: “Better to have tried and lost, than never to have tried at all!!!”

Avatar Image says:

I think if you are under 18 and enter anyway, you won’t be able to claim the prize… just that simple. Get an adult to enter for you guys… it is the best way! Someone that can claim the prize and go with you…. I know it sucks, but it a way. I’ll be taking my 7yo son with me! (if i win hehehe of course!) Good luck everyone!

Avatar Image says:

Does anyone one know if you can enter more than once?.... I did it twice, is it going to count?

Avatar Image says:

ugh… 18 and older. not fair! i’d love to go sooo much but i guess its way out of my reach..

Avatar Image says:

@Carol Carvalho: It says [paraphrasing] “Odds of winning, depend on number of entries, recieved.” It says NOTHING about the “number of times” you may enter.

Avatar Image says:

BTW, all: It says “Open to residents of the 50 States/DC[Sorry UK/Canada/etc], 18 years of age or older….”. You also DON’T have to “subscribe” to anything. If you did, it would not except the entry without the Credit or billing information!

Avatar Image says:

I’m a bit behind! Wasn’t the premiere supposed to be in London? Remember that article on Leaky saying all those different premieres on one night.. there was the one with the royal family, one a ‘separate screening’, and a £25 one? Oh no! I really wanted to go to that!

Avatar Image says:

:( :( How long does it take to become a legal US resident? Why don´t they give us international HP-Appreciators a chance? :( :( Well, so I´ll fly to London and stand somewhere near the Red Carpet. ;-)

Avatar Image says:

“This contest is open to legal residents of the US, ages 18 years and older” Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

Avatar Image says:

@HP-Appreciator: Unfortunately, longer than you have! [I believe it’s 6 months or a year]...And, for all of you, in the UK and other places “outside the US”..... looks like we’ll get something Y’all don’t! I probably won’t win, but it’s nice to see that not ALL the HP stuff is going to London first! BTW, if you look, on IMDb, I think there’s a listing of “openings”. I guess that would include the “premier” stuff. RE: The “one with the Royal Family”...that was some sort of charity thing, that was cancelled. [Perhaps it will be “reinstated”, closer to the release date…one can only hope!] WIDE GRIN!!!

Avatar Image says:

@ Germain

Contests are void in Quebec because of a different set of sweapstakes rules that Quebec has, not because of any lack of translation into French. It’s the same the other way around…many contest are only good in Quebec and not in the rest of Canada.

This said…I am soooo upset about not being able to participate. Some contests/sweapstakes are available to both the US and Canada (usually with the exception of Quebec), so hopefully there will be one for this premier.

Avatar Image says:

Guys, if you are a true Harry Potter fan and want to punish Warner Bros. for postponing the HBP movie to 2009, here is your chance. I call to all U.S. residing HP fans, don’t take part in this contest and cause Warner Bros. an embarrasment they will never forget. Wait for the movie till 2009.

Avatar Image says:

Hello, i am from Brazil, and i dont speak english….But i am hir for say: O love New York, is my Dreams meet this place, is beautiful and wonderful !!!

O love this site !!!

[Gente perdão de se meu ingles tah ruim, mais é que ainda to aprendendo se tiver legal me avise…...]

good Bye !

Avatar Image says:

@ Soumya

Isn’t that kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face ?! What’s done is done and the movie is unfortunately postponed. Whatever the reason is, why would it be a good idea to waste the chance (however small it may be) to attend an HP premiere?! It’s a great opportunity that US residents have and we Canadians don’t…go for it guys and enjoy it.

Avatar Image says:

i just entered my mom cause i’m not 18.

Avatar Image says:

No! No! No! No! Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! I WANTED IT IN LA! If the November premiere was suppose to be in Los Angeles then the July should also be! SO NOT FAIR! Now I’m actually going to hate WB. I really wanted to go with the mob! New York always gets it! We’ve only had it twice and I couldn’t go! C’mon, movie premieres should be Hollywood. We’re the capital of entertainment. Come back to California, PLEASE!

Avatar Image says:

Hey, at least I have an 18 year old big sister who likes Harry Potter as much as I do, I just hop she likes me! Hehe!

Avatar Image says:

Hey, at least I have an 18 year old big sister who likes Harry Potter as much as I do, I just hope she likes me! Hehe!

Avatar Image says:

lol cool i dont have to pay for transportation since i live here in nyc.

Avatar Image says:

Finally a premire that over 18 years could win… may luck be on my side.

Avatar Image says:

@ Confederate Lady – Thank you!!! :) I hadn’t notice that….

Avatar Image says:

what is the actual age that you can enter? 18+ or 21+? and can you enter once every day or just one time only?

Avatar Image says:

@eiVega: Becha dollars to doughnuts, there’s gonna be a premier in L.A. I will envy all my buddies, in L.A. I have a number of HP friends, as I used to live there…saddly, I”m “down south” now. We never get premiers of ANYTHING! Don’t worry your pretty little head. [big envious grin] @ carol carvalho: No problem, deary! ;D

Avatar Image says:

I’m just going to have to tell all of my friends to enter this, in the hopes that if one of us wins, they take me with them. This would be awesomeeee :)

Avatar Image says:

Why does it have to be US residents???? How come nothing exciting NEVER happens in France?

Avatar Image says:

“One entry per person and per e-mail address during the Promotion Period.”

So yeah you can only enter once.

Avatar Image says:

@tiffany:Sorry to hear that, tiffany! I know how you feel. After being in “the movie capital of the US”, I’m out here in “only-The-Lord-knows-about-the-South, South Carolina! For all our “exciting premiers” and such, in The South, it’s a “no person’s land”. “I feel your pain”, mon cher!

Avatar Image says:

@nadia: where did you find that? I looked and looked…..maybe I need new glasses! I only entered once, but I hope others didn’t foil their chances, if this is true! [they sometimes discount ALL entries, from a single e-mail address, if there are more than one!] YIKES!

Avatar Image says:

@ Confederate Lady: But they’ve never had it at both NYC and LA, have they? I don’t think so. It doesn’t make sense. Normally movies have their US premiere and an international premiere. On The Simpsons Movie we only had one Hollywood, one London and then that silly Springfield premiere. I don’t know why Harry Potter would have so many more or even two in the United States. Has any movie ever had two domestic premieres. That is just odd. And yes, I know other cities aren’t as fortunate to host these big events but if we’re voting between Los Angeles and New York, my vote is definitely for California. It’s our turn! New York has had plenty of attention (and 3 of 5 premieres). Dan needs a break from Equus to come out and see other places…or at least revisit the ones he hardly spends time at! Come back to LA!

Avatar Image says:

”@nadia: where did you find that? I looked and looked…..maybe I need new glasses! I only entered once, but I hope others didn’t foil their chances, if this is true! [they sometimes discount ALL entries, from a single e-mail address, if there are more than one!] YIKES!” said C. L.

What the heck?! I didn’t see it either…..... :( I entered a couple of times to see if it worked… now I’m sad!

Avatar Image says:

well, i hope then that they later open another contest for people who are younger than 21.

Avatar Image says:

GREAT!!! I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND AM ONLY 16 YEARS OLD… (CRYING)

Avatar Image says:

Nooo! y cant it be here in L.A.

Avatar Image says:

@eiVega: You know what? I think you’re right! But it would be keen if they DID premier it in both places. I’m with you, though, in case it’s true it will only be one: I vote for California….it IS their turn “in the HP Spotlight”!

Avatar Image says:

To all the canadians who want to enter revolt and have your own premiere.

Avatar Image says:

it definitely says 18 or older on the site… not 21. YAY I can enter. xD

Avatar Image says:

The premiere should be boycotted for what WB did to the loyal fans. The picture should go down in a ball of flame to give them a message.Wait for the DVD

Avatar Image says:

it says 18+ on the main page but if you click the link for ‘official rules’ it says 21+ i’m 18… should i just go ahead and enter?

Avatar Image says:

hi everyone..im nica.. well im just wondering if we can be friends..actually this my first time to join here..im from philippines..tnx..hope that you will accept me :):)

Avatar Image says: this is Katie Ray and i want to win this contest. I am really looking forward to meeting Daniel Radcliffe. Please let me know ASAP if i won Avatar ImageM.S.E. says: I was on the website for the contest but I can't find the option where you don't have to sign up! Can anyone pleeease help me out?
