As reported previously, there is a new Harry Potter theme park attraction being built that will be part of the Universal Orlando park complex in Orlando, Florida. While previously it had been stated that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was to be open sometime late 2009 or early 2010, there is a new report now online that seems to have a more specific opening date. TCPalm.com is reporting that Universal Orlando Resort President Bill Davis said the theme park “is expected to open Dec. 1, 2009.” As the park is in early stages of construction, we do not know at this point if this is just a preliminary target date or how true this date will hold for the future, and will update with more on this when we can.
Thanks Pat!
Gah!!! I’m sooooo excited!! I can’t wait!!! I’ll bet at least Jo will be there, probably some of the stars from the movies, too.
Yay! I can’t wait! I want to go when it opens! I’ve never been to one of the conferences and that will be the ultimate one! I can just see it: we all meet in The Leaky Cauldron and chat and yay!
I just pictured us all walking around wearing nametags that have our online names on it. LOL.
Gah, I need to figure how I’m getting to Florida- California is pretty far away, lol. But yeah, super excited for it!!
Why does everyone keep calling it a theme park? It’s going to be a part of Islands of Adventure with only a few additional rides and attractions. Plus, most of the new rides are standard rides with extra themeing, so waiting a year for fear they won’t work is ridiculous. Most of the times that new rides don’t work are because they use untested technology…that won’t be true for Harry Potter.
Oh my gosh i cannot WAIT! Just wish I could be there for the opening… oh, well, I’ll get there eventually!!!!!!!
I was at Islands of Adventure during the holiday break, so I went on the Flying Unicorn ride to get a look at the site. Right now its just a whole bunch of dirt and machines sitting around. Nothing too exciting.
