Jason Isaacs, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters Nominated at Satellite Awards

Congratulations are in order today for several actors from the Harry Potter series who received nominations at the Satellite Awards for their work in other films and television series.

First, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) was nominated as Best Actor in a Series, Drama for his work in the Showtime’s Brotherhood. The show, now in the third season, was also nominated as Best Series, Drama. David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr, GoF) was also nominated as Best Actor in a Series, Drama for his work as Doctor Who for BBC (the show is also currently airing here in the States on BBC America).

Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) was recognized as well, receiving a Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture for his turn in Bernard and Doris film for HBO. Similarly Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) garnered a Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture made for Television
nomination for her performance in
Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story on PBS/BBC.

In the Motion Picture nominations, Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye Moody) was recognized for his work in In Bruges as Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical, while Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) was nominated in the best Actress in a Supporting Role category for her work in Brideshead Revisited.

Finally, although it has yet to be released, The Tale of Despereaux featuring vocal performances from Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), was nominated as Best Animated Film.

Congratulations to all the nominees! The Satellite Awards, given by the International Press Academy, will be presented December 14th in Los Angeles, California.
