BellaSnape, if it makes you feel any better, I think Helen McCrory is lovely, and I defended her over on the IMDb boards until it got too silly. ;)
Now I’m laughing at the fact that a lot of people here are saying Scarlett is “too pretty”. POOR THING! Hee.
When it comes right down to it, I think that most people ARE beautiful in some way, irrespective of height, weight, age, or arrangement of facial features. The casting people know what they’re doing, everyone: it’s their job. With hair, makeup, costuming (and the sad fact that we’ll see her for possibly ten seconds), Miss Byrne will be a good addition to the cast. Welcome, Scarlett!
291 days! \o/

she actually looks pretty good and i’m sure she’ll be great. can’t wait for other casting announcements, although, i wonder, who’s left?

Thank you soo much Mountain Violet! That did make me feel absolutely 100% better and you are absolutely right as well. Yes indeed welcome Scarlett ( and Helen!) with much ambition!

As CarolynJ said, Pansy in the books is not necessarily meant to be ugly. It’s just that the books are seen from Harry’s point of view and that’s his opinion because she’s a Slytherin and Malfoy’s girlfriend. But I could never imagine Malfoy with anything other than a glamourous girl. I always imagined her being good looking just like this actress is, pug-faced, in a pretty way. It’s personality, not looks, that make people ugly and I’m sure this actress will make a good job of portraying the right character.

Why do they keep changing the actresses who play Pansy, I wonder. The last girl was really pretty, I wish they just kept her.

@BellaSnape: No worries, we’ve all been guilty of losing our temper and saying things we wish we hadn’t. It was gracious and gutsy of you to apologize and clarify. :) And I really do agree with the overall point you were making: that it’s unkind to call Scarlet ugly, and that we should give her (and Ms. McCrory, too) a chance to prove herself before we make judgments.
I personally think she’s a very pretty girl, and that she really looks the part. And I’m still loving her eyes.

thanks Saria- that still wasnt nice of me, and I know it, I just want people to consider before the judge. You have a very pretty name. And thanks again to you Mountain Violet- you both are very kind.

Aww, glad I could help. ;)
Pansy IS ugly, of course, in her actions. (Jo said she “loathes” the character.) So if they give her anything to do besides being background fill we will probably see Scarlett’s pretty face twisting into something quite hateful and ugly.
But I agree, it’s unkind, not to mention ridiculous, to look at one picture and DISMISS THE ACTRESS as “Ugly!”

Although her looks is not entirely canon, I prefer the old Pansy Parkinson – Genevieve Gaunt? Want to know whatever happened to her? Check out her fansite… http://www.freewebs.com/gigigaunt/home.html

Wow, that girl who is going to play Lavendar Brown is really, really pretty! Good luck to her! :)

I think she looks really good as the part, but, I must admit, the old Pansy was more as I imangned her . (total HP bookworm here, watch out!) (ditto dumbledores)

She is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too prety to be pansey!!!!
but good luck to her hope she’s good!!

@ Everyone I hurt. I am sorry , your right when saying if I want to get a point across that I shouldnt be cruel in the process of doing so, but some people make me mad when the just out of the blue call someone a name, and yes I know ugly is a description but its as hurtful as namecalling, which I know I just did and Im sorry. I just think like many have said that we should see the movie with Helen McCrory( Narcissa ) and Scarlett ( Pansy) before we judge That was my main issue here is when people are judging them just from apperance rather than giving them a chance, everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves.
