The “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” film has received a number of nominations at the upcoming 34th Annual Saturn Awards. This awards ceremony recognizes the best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror films each year and has given out a total of nine nominations to the fifth Potter film. Most notably, the film is among those in consideration for Best Fantasy Film. Further nominations went to David Yates, who was nominated for Best Director, and to Michael Goldenberg, for Best Writing. Actor Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was also nominated for his performance in the Best Performance by a Younger Actor category while actress Imelda Staunton was recognized for her portrayal of Professor Umbridge in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

The special effects work in “Order of the Phoenix” was also acknowledged by the Saturn Awards, as was the film’s music. The team of Tim Burke, John Richardson, Paul Franklin, and Greg Butler were nominated for Best Special Effects, while composer Nicholas Hooper was recognized in the Best Music category. Finally, the film’s costume designer Jany Temime and Make-Up Artists Nick Dudman and Amanda Wright were nominated as well in the respective categories of Best Makeup and Best Costume Design.

On a related note, actor Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”

The 34th Annual Saturn Awards, which are presented by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, will be handed out in Universal City, California on June 24th.

Congratulations to all at OotP!

Congrats on all the nominations! Imelda Staunton was amazing as Umbridge. And YEY for the Sweeney Todd nomination for Alan Rickman. He was awesome in the movie.

Not to be snobby to the other awards, but I feel like these nominations were actually well thought out and appropriate.

Congrats to everyone!

“Michael Goldenberg, for Best Writing” LOL! Sorry, but that script was horrid and is, IMO, totally overrated.

Wow! Amazing news! Bogratulations to the OotP team, and yeah, I’m really happy to see Imelda Staunton nominated, we couldn’t have found a better Umbridge! :D

At last, Imelda Staunton is nominated. She was fantastic in OotP and but before the Saturn awards, she was mostly ignored. Good luck to all the nominees!

Hopefully, Dan Rad will bag that acting trophy. This is not a fan award so this should merit more than the NMA if Dan gets it…I see Dakota Richards is nominated too but no Emma. But come to think of it, I don’t think Emma was ever nominated in the Saturn awards. It has been only Dan. Freddie HIghmore is tough competition but Dan has improved so much in OotP, he might have a chance…

yah I agree Imelda was perfect for Umbrige, just as Evanna and Helena were for Luna and Bellatrix. And the people who were new in the order like Tonks and Kingsley – I just hope we see more of them in the coming movies. But through all five movie the casting has been phenomenal that is why I am very excited and intrigued to see Jim and Helen as Slughorn and Narcissa, and of course the other newbies as well. Sorry, you got me going there with how good the cast is!
