"Half-Blood Prince" Filming Underway in Gloucester, Contest for Photos
HBP FilmUPDATE: Further our report below, This is Gloucestershire is reporting that actors Alan Rickman (Professor Snape), Tom Felton (Draco) and Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) are now on set at the Cathedral for filming as well as Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). The article, which is continuously being updated, now states both Rupert and Alan have been “caught on camera in full make-up”. The paper reports “Two sets of crutches were also spotted arriving at the set – leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch could be being filmed. It is believed filing will go on until 7pm tonight, and will be finished at the Cathedral by the end of tomorrow. ” You can see a photo of Alan Rickman as Snape here, as well as Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, here.
UPDATE 3: The BBC has a batch of new photos from the filming today, including new photos of “Half-Blood Prince” director David Yates, James Phelps (Fred Weasley) who is working as a runner on the film as well, new Rupert Grint here and here, local students as extras seen wearing their Hogwarts robes, doubles for Draco Malfoy, Snape and more.
UPDATE 2: Thanks to Oclumencia, we can now see photos of Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) arriving on the set as well as larger photos the Alan Rickman photos from earlier today. As we reported last week, location filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is set to begin today, with the Cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral closed now through February 8. Many cast members including Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) are due for this location filming. As such, This is Gloucestershire has launched a new contest for photos of the visiting stars, as the paper notes “Anyone who manages to capture a photo of one of the major cast members should submit a copy of the picture to us – and win themselves £20.” You can find more information about this contest here. No it’s not in the book. But remember Yates did say that Ron trying out for Quidditch will be very slap-snick and perhaps falling off his broom is a part of the overall scene. Good luck to Rupert, the poor boy looks so tired in the on-set pics that came out today.

Those photos were fantastic! And Snape, giving us a true Snape look. I also loved seeing the doubles of Ron and Draco…can I be a double for Hermione? I look alot like her actually (although I am American) but that’s alright because they don’t talk…it could be my on-screen debut… ok back to work!

Great, that big loser Ron can’t even play quidditch without falling from a broom, not to mention madam Pomfrey is so incompetent she can’t even heal few bones. It’s official, I hate Kloves!!!
Does anyone remember the wheel chair that they had for McGonagal while filming OoTP? And we assumed it was for her after the Ministry/Umbridge attacked her. And what?? Nothing, no wheel chair, no McGonagall, no attack. So don’t get too worried about crutches

I’m just wondering if Alan Rickman will FINALLY get a costume change for the Spinner’s End scene. Good Lord, his character can’t be wearing his professor robes in the summer at his own house!
Did anyone saw Helena Bonham Carter on the set??? Im just wondering if they put Bellatrix in the final scenes. The papers reported that she will be there so where is she?

@ MD and Dobby- I agree with both of you- I heard Helena was supposed to be there to maybe she is still fitting into her sexy Black number! And yes Alan might wear something else at his own house- dont know though, probably wouldnt count on it – but who knows.
I would like to say that the crutches were not for Ron.
There were two young boys, playing extras, who were on crutches on there way into the Cathedral in their robes. So the crutches seen were obviously for them to make it seem more real in front of the camera.
I never actually saw Tom :( I only saw his double. The double was hanging around with Alan’s double. It was quite funny. And Ruperts double hung around with Dan’s double. From a distance Ruperts double was really convincing! It got a bit confusing at times.
I didn’t see Helena, nor hear any rumours about her being there. She might be there tomorrow though.
Oh, this is so exciting! Can’t wait for more photos! Alan Rickman looks perfect. I love the contrast between the photos of him with and without the makeup. It is amazing to see Mr. Rickman’s expression change when he has makeup on. He is suddenly SO Snape, not only physically (the makeup artists are doing a great job!), but also inside! Admirable! And I want some photos of Tom!!!!!!!!

Alan!!! :) Yay, my favourite HP actor (heck, my favourite actor, period). It’s so awesome to see him, I hope he gets more screen time in the last two films.
