Two days ago we reported on a new photo and ad from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film that was contained in Nick Magazine. Today, we can tell you the article was part of a special section in the magazine highlighting a new “Coming Attractions Sweepstakes” that Warner Bros is holding to win a trip to the premiere of the sixth Harry Potter film. According to the magazine, a US premiere of Half-Blood Prince will take place in Los Angeles, California. Open to legal residents of the US ages 6 to 14, one winner of the contest will fly to Hollywood and walk the red carpet at the premiere of the film in November. This contest will open March 21 and run through May 1, 2008. Additional rules and information on this contest is not yet online, however the entry form for the contest is seen via this link where children entering must provide their parents name and email. We will update when more information becomes available. Good luck to all who enter.

On a related note for those who collect these things, the special insert in the April 2008 Nick Magazine also includes a Harry Potter maze and a word fill-in section, asking questions relative to the events in the “After the Burial” chapter of HBP.

Once again, only for the US, and only for kids. Don’t they think people that DON’T fit into that age range would like to go???

Avatar Image says:

isn’t the first premiere in NYC,read that someplace, then it must go to la, then i am wondering if to london—hope Dan can make that with Equus going on durinng the time period[of couse he could have a week off worked into his schdule ,do they do that for stage ]

Avatar Image says:

NOOOOOOOO! I was so planning on going to the premiere in NYC. And I just turned 15 last week so my hopes are crushed =(

Avatar Image says:

We want an Aussie premiere dammit! We’re fans too!

Avatar Image says:

I mean i’m 27 y/o and love harry potter—6-14 y/o’s only can enter, I mean C’mon!

Avatar Image says:

WHOO! I’m so there again! I live in LA!

Avatar Image says:

Willow, I was thinking that too. I don’t think Dan will be able to go… to any premiere, unless there’s also one in NY or unless it’s on a Sunday, (assuming NY theatre is like London and Sunday’s a day off for stage actors).

Avatar Image says:

YESSSSSSS! I’m SO going! I was totally bummed that I missed the LA OOTP premiere and was worried they’d never do another one there.

Avatar Image says:

Willow and anne: I´m pretty sure that Dan will be attending both the US and the UK premiere of HBP…I believe that it will be worked into the schedule of Equus that he had those premieres to attend

Avatar Image says:

WHAT ABOUT SYDNEY????

I want DAN and BONNIE here in AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Grr…I’ve loved HP for almost 10 years…it’s not fair that only kids get to enter!! It sucks being and older HP fan sometimes…

Avatar Image says:

When is Equus running ‘til anyway? If it starts in May is it running all the way through the end of November or longer? That seems like a long time for a (sort of) touring play or musical to be stationed in one place, especially if it’s from abroad. Maybe I’m wrong, I dunno.

Avatar Image says:

It does suck that the contest has a specific age range… it makes more sense to let older fans enter that can actually make it there without hassling their parents to take them there or to the airport. Thanks alot WB!!! :-(

Avatar Image says:

AND WHAT ABOUT THE UK?

ain’t they doing any thing about the London one. Gosh, how many hours did i spend outside and wait to see them and when the cars started rolling in, so did the rain. at least one i would like to be on the red carpet. (OOTP)

does anyone know about any UK contest?

Avatar Image says:

This stinks!!!! 6- 14? I wonder if i can enter my sister they accompany her? or just take her place?

I would love some polyjuice potion if she won!

Avatar Image says:

And second: These kids couldn’t even read when the books came out, and others weren’t even born yet!! How could they be a true fan if they don’t understand sall of the symbolism and the great writing the IS J.K Rowling?

(internal tyrade continues)

Avatar Image says:

Oh calm down people. It’s only the US PREMIERE that is in LA, they’ll still be premieres in other countries. The WORLD premiere is probably once again in London (and rightly so).

In the interests of reducing CARBON FOOTPRINTS the cast won’t be allowed to do a bloomin’ world tour anyway, they never have. You’ll all probably have to wait until the DH premiere(s) for that.

Avatar Image says:

I was so excited about seeing the picture I completely missed scanning that information. OOPS!

Avatar Image says:

It stinks that there’s an age limit, and that my son is only 4 1/2 y/o…if he was just a little bit older I could go with him if he won. I agree with k, Lindsay, Jordan, Ryan and Lance…that there should not be an age limit…it is hard to be an older Potter fan sometimes. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Avatar Image says:

You know, as an adult fan of the HP books and films, I can still understand the desire to make these contests available to children rather than to the grown up fans. HOWEVER it makes no sense at all that the ages they are aiming for to promote a PG-13 film should include children that young! What the heck is the point of the ratings system?

Personally, I would have let my children see the Potter films before they were 13, but not the later films at the age of 6! 10-12 maybe? For crying out loud WB, think just a little bit here! The films since Goblet of Fire are meant for the older crowd – perhaps make the contest available to 12 – 18 year olds?

The rest of us grown ups can fend for ourselves, I think.

Avatar Image says:

Last I heard Equus is on Broadway Sept. 08 thru Feb. 09. Then Dan will be off to film DH. I’d imagine they worked in HBP premieres in his Broadway contract.

Avatar Image says:

Calm down people! This contest appears to be a collaboration between Nick Magazine and WB. Nick Magazine is for children in that age range, of course it is promoted toward them. Why would Nick Mag. have a contest for older kids that probably don’t read it. Maybe someone else will have a sweepstakes for older kids.

However, that being said, I do wonder why they are promoting a contest for that age when the rating will most likely be PG-13. My 6 and 7 year olds were terrified after simply watching the first movie. I have not allowed them to watch the second yet because I don’t like being called out at 3:00 a.m. because a monster is drinking unicorn blood. I can only imagine the nightmares a Basilisk (much less Voldomort and a werewolf) would cause.

Avatar Image says:

Well, it does kind of suck that there is an age limit. But the good thing is that you can still go to the premiere as a “spectator” – this is what my boyfriend and I did for the OOTP premiere last year at the Chinese theater. It was nothing less than amazing. It was really fun taking pictures too!

Avatar Image says:

That doesn’t even cover a wide range of teenagers—wth? I’m tempted to enter my cousin who doesn’t even like HP that much just so I have a chance of winning… sheesh.

Avatar Image says:

This sucks. I was hoping for an NYC premiere! :( Can’t they have two?

Avatar Image says:

That stinks. I am 4 years to old. I think there shouldnt be an age range after all there will be lots of kissing and horror scenes so it will be PG 13 so 13 and over should be the ones in the contest.

Avatar Image says:

I bet that there will be two premieres. Unless they work it out on Broadway to allow Dan all that time in LA, I certainly don’t think he’d want to have his understudy do the play for him. I think I read somewhere that he didn’t do that when the play came to an end at the West End? I also think it’s tragic for the WB to do this. Last time these poor actors had to do promotion in LA and then fly all the way to NYC to do more. Stop being so unfair to them, Warner Bros.! They do enough without you flying them from one area of the world to the next!

Avatar Image says:

I agree with Katie on this. It should be the ages between 13 or older because they’re will be alot of kissing and horror scenes at the end of the movie. And if someone could tell me do you have too be invited or do you just have too wait a long time too see the stars. Is there a limit too how many people get too wait? And what day and time are they going too have the premiere? I know it’s in November but if someone could tell me the date and the time. I’d appreciate it.

Avatar Image says:

Grrr!! I soo want to go! I’m 16 and i LOVE Harry Potter….. =[ this SO totally suxx… T__T

Avatar Image says:

6- 14??? thats totally not fair! I mean I’m 15 and i love Harry Potter they should at least extend it to 20 or something like that

Avatar Image says:

This is ridiculous, I’ve lived in the US my entire life, been a fan from the beginning, always dreamed of going to a premiere, and I turn fifteen and they bring out this. RIDICULOUS. I’m entering anyway, even if I have to lie about my age the whole way through. People say I look thirteen, oh well. I hate life.

Avatar Image says:

Wait, let me cry first. Lol. I don’t live near LA! I live in a small town in Wisconsin! But hopefully I get to go? Ha. Doubt it. I`m so jealous of all of you who are going! :)

Avatar Image says:

Umm.. WHY only KIDS?!

Avatar Image says:

Yes! I’m gonna see if i can enter!

Avatar Image says:

YAY!! Go LA!

Avatar Image says:

Don’t worry I don’t think this will be the only contest to attend the premiere. There’s always a sweepstakes for the entire world somewhere lol

Also to the UK people, I’m sure the turn out for the premiere there is a million times better than down here in LA. We just had a few of the stars attend last year for OOTP and I wanted to see more of them! I wish I saw Katie too since I wore the Ravenclaw Quidditch robe for her. Oh well.

For those who are planning camp out again this year, please let me know! I really want to get a huge group together including my HP Meetup group and some of my friends. We can have a block party or something! LOL

Avatar Image says:

Yet again, those of us over the somehow magical age of 14 have been left out in the cold. I hope those little kids that shouldn’t be seeing a PG13 movie anyway but will because their parent think it would be neat, have nightmares.

Avatar Image says:

You’d think they’d direct their promotions and ads to the kids that grew up with Harry Potter. It was my generation, the kids who were 8 and 9 when the books came to the US, who are now 17 and 18. Why do they keep trying to make the series for young children?! If this is a PG-13 film, they should keep that in mind for their contests.

____

Not cool, WB.

And anyways, WB didn’t exactly treat the fans well at the LA OOTP Premire last year. They need to make better plans this year, or else there are going to be some very pissed off West Coast fans.

Avatar Image says:

Yet again, those of us over that somehow magical age of 14 have been left out in the cold. Yes I’m definetly bitter this time. I hope all those little kids that shouldn’t be seeing a PG13 movie anyway, but are because their parents think it would be neat to take them, have nightmares.

Avatar Image says:

Chill out folks, it’s just a contest. I’m sure there will be others. Don’t wish bad on the little ones- HP fans are supposed to be a kind group of folks. ;) I hope the lucky kiddies have fun!

Avatar Image says:

The rating system is NOT a law..It´s simply a guideline. Some 6 years old can easely watch a pg-13 rated movie with no problems and others can´t…It´s really up to the parents to decide wether their kids a “old” enough to watch the movie.

Avatar Image says:

Only US citizens and that age limit!!! Grrrr!!! NOT FAIR!!!! The realt true fans are older, since they’ve read the books right from the beginning!!! :-(

Avatar Image says:

Abby, I’ll definitely come along with you guys to camp at the premiere … north orange HP meetup rocks! ;)

Avatar Image says:

Whoops, sorry for the double post. My internet connection flaked out right when I hit the post button!

Avatar Image says:

im turning 14 soon and i’m a US citizen living in italy….is that ok????

Avatar Image says:

THIS IS SOOOOOOOO UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT ABOUT US ASIAN KIDS ? my life is HP we all HP fans deserve the same so PLEASE! put these kind of contests around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

What a stupid idea. Six year olds were born in 2002, only a year before OOTP came out! They can’t even watch from the fourth movie onwards. I was eight when the fifth book came out and I was a MASSIVE fan- I read the book on the day it came out, read age-appropriate fanfiction and was even signed up for some forums, on which I started discussions. I’d love to see a fan who’s aged eight and have read all the books go to the premiere- at least they’d appreciate it.

Avatar Image says:

i’m so confused i went to enter and it wouldn’t let me do it more than once… i read through their policy and it didn’t say anything about multiple enterings does anyone know if there is a rule agains that?

Avatar Image says:

Avatar Image says:

are there any more contests to go see this movie???????????????????????????????????????????

Avatar Image says:

HEY! isnt INDIA on the map or something? i mean cmon we are fans too!

Avatar Image says:

Okay, I entered – but I will never win. =(

Avatar Image says:

I live in the Czech Republic….Why is no premiere here ??? I want to see any actor from Harry Potter movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I wonder if Duff is doing the cake again..lol

Avatar Image says:

I don’t agree the adult commentary in HP is so over the head of a typical 6-8 year old I don’t see any potential damage to them watching it. The US ratings system is way to restrictive anyways. Many films that are R here are rated for 14’s and 16’s in other countries.

Also, I’d rather they see HP than some other PG-13 teen pics out there, even some of the Disney one’s where the sexuality is gratuitious. Something you can say about the violence and sexuality in the HP world is it isn’t gratuitious or unrealistic.

The real Hitler, Mussolini, both as bad as fictional Voldemort and many of our parents and grandparents lived through as children just fine. I’d rather use this fiction to educate children on the horrors of the world because it is easier to understand the causes and effect this way and then later when they are older they can take those skills to understanding this in the real world. Give your children some credit they aren’t dogs or cats, they are human beings!!!

Avatar Image says:

there i entered but i probably won’t win, but at least i have a chance :]

Avatar Image says:

i agree with charma10 “only in the U.S” what are the rest of us “pork-chops?” god!!!! IM ENTERING ANYWAY LOL

Avatar Image says:

I JUST CANT BELIEVE THIS AGE LIMIT THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! arent people above 14 humans!!!

Avatar Image says:

it is classified as a childs fim, okay? Everyone just give WB a break.

Avatar Image says:

are. you. kidding. me. thats ridiculous. im 16 and i wanna go just as badly as any 6-14year old. grrrrrrrr

Avatar Image says:

Yay! Go LA! Im still 13 so I can enter! I am sooooo gonna go!

Avatar Image says:

AHH!! :(:( sux SOO much that i turn 15 soon. i LLOOVVEE HP and was so sad i missed the premiere last year and was hoping to go to one this year!

Avatar Image says:

Yes! I am 13 and I just entered the contest! I doubt I will win but its worth a try. Even if I don’t win, I think I can still go cuz I live in LA. About the age limit to the contest, Nick is directed to kids not adults. Anyway, it gives me a better chance of winning. I hope I win. Pray for me guys!

Avatar Image says:

WAT ABOUT IRELAND???? were all ways left out it soooooo annoying

Avatar Image says:

Yes!! I live about 6 hours from LA!!! I have never been to a premiere and i would die to win this!! I am 14 and I have entered at least 75 times!!! I wanna win SOOOOOO bad!! I have been praying I win to God!!!Please let me win!!! I would die and come back to life if I did!!!!!That would be AWSOME!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Kelly: I entered multiple times. All you have to do is enter then leave then come back enter than leave. and keep doing that. I made that page my homepage so i can enter as many times as i want. So far i entered about 75 times!!Ireally hope i win!

Avatar Image says:

i hope dan dosen’t come to sydney because you could probley still smell him smoking all the way to perth were i live. but emma, bonnie and rupert are welcome to go any were they want.

Avatar Image says:

I very much agree with Melanie. WB should be more conscientious about what age group they are inviting to participate in this contest. I am a longtime adult fan of the books and movies and my teenage daughter is a serious fan as well. I would no sooner have let her watch the movies from #3 on at the age of 6 or 7 years old! WB – revise your contest age bracket!

Avatar Image says:

Actually, Amanda, I was there, too, and I was thinking about organizing the event for this year, because of all the drama from last year. Contact me, anyone who is interested. [email protected]
