Two days ago we reported on a new photo and ad from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film that was contained in Nick Magazine. Today, we can tell you the article was part of a special section in the magazine highlighting a new “Coming Attractions Sweepstakes” that Warner Bros is holding to win a trip to the premiere of the sixth Harry Potter film. According to the magazine, a US premiere of Half-Blood Prince will take place in Los Angeles, California. Open to legal residents of the US ages 6 to 14, one winner of the contest will fly to Hollywood and walk the red carpet at the premiere of the film in November. This contest will open March 21 and run through May 1, 2008. Additional rules and information on this contest is not yet online, however the entry form for the contest is seen via this link where children entering must provide their parents name and email. We will update when more information becomes available. Good luck to all who enter.

On a related note for those who collect these things, the special insert in the April 2008 Nick Magazine also includes a Harry Potter maze and a word fill-in section, asking questions relative to the events in the “After the Burial” chapter of HBP.

And second: These kids couldn’t even read when the books came out, and others weren’t even born yet!! How could they be a true fan if they don’t understand sall of the symbolism and the great writing the IS J.K Rowling?

(internal tyrade continues)

Oh calm down people. It’s only the US PREMIERE that is in LA, they’ll still be premieres in other countries. The WORLD premiere is probably once again in London (and rightly so).

In the interests of reducing CARBON FOOTPRINTS the cast won’t be allowed to do a bloomin’ world tour anyway, they never have. You’ll all probably have to wait until the DH premiere(s) for that.

It stinks that there’s an age limit, and that my son is only 4 1/2 y/o…if he was just a little bit older I could go with him if he won. I agree with k, Lindsay, Jordan, Ryan and Lance…that there should not be an age limit…it is hard to be an older Potter fan sometimes. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

You know, as an adult fan of the HP books and films, I can still understand the desire to make these contests available to children rather than to the grown up fans. HOWEVER it makes no sense at all that the ages they are aiming for to promote a PG-13 film should include children that young! What the heck is the point of the ratings system?

Personally, I would have let my children see the Potter films before they were 13, but not the later films at the age of 6! 10-12 maybe? For crying out loud WB, think just a little bit here! The films since Goblet of Fire are meant for the older crowd – perhaps make the contest available to 12 – 18 year olds?

The rest of us grown ups can fend for ourselves, I think.

Last I heard Equus is on Broadway Sept. 08 thru Feb. 09. Then Dan will be off to film DH. I’d imagine they worked in HBP premieres in his Broadway contract.

Calm down people! This contest appears to be a collaboration between Nick Magazine and WB. Nick Magazine is for children in that age range, of course it is promoted toward them. Why would Nick Mag. have a contest for older kids that probably don’t read it. Maybe someone else will have a sweepstakes for older kids.

However, that being said, I do wonder why they are promoting a contest for that age when the rating will most likely be PG-13. My 6 and 7 year olds were terrified after simply watching the first movie. I have not allowed them to watch the second yet because I don’t like being called out at 3:00 a.m. because a monster is drinking unicorn blood. I can only imagine the nightmares a Basilisk (much less Voldomort and a werewolf) would cause.

Well, it does kind of suck that there is an age limit. But the good thing is that you can still go to the premiere as a “spectator” – this is what my boyfriend and I did for the OOTP premiere last year at the Chinese theater. It was nothing less than amazing. It was really fun taking pictures too!

That doesn’t even cover a wide range of teenagers—wth? I’m tempted to enter my cousin who doesn’t even like HP that much just so I have a chance of winning… sheesh.

This sucks. I was hoping for an NYC premiere! :( Can’t they have two?

That stinks. I am 4 years to old. I think there shouldnt be an age range after all there will be lots of kissing and horror scenes so it will be PG 13 so 13 and over should be the ones in the contest.

I bet that there will be two premieres. Unless they work it out on Broadway to allow Dan all that time in LA, I certainly don’t think he’d want to have his understudy do the play for him. I think I read somewhere that he didn’t do that when the play came to an end at the West End? I also think it’s tragic for the WB to do this. Last time these poor actors had to do promotion in LA and then fly all the way to NYC to do more. Stop being so unfair to them, Warner Bros.! They do enough without you flying them from one area of the world to the next!

I agree with Katie on this. It should be the ages between 13 or older because they’re will be alot of kissing and horror scenes at the end of the movie. And if someone could tell me do you have too be invited or do you just have too wait a long time too see the stars. Is there a limit too how many people get too wait? And what day and time are they going too have the premiere? I know it’s in November but if someone could tell me the date and the time. I’d appreciate it.
