Earlier we told you actor Rupert Grint was to appear on the Al Murray’s Happy Hour show tonight. That program has now aired in the UK, and thanks to our Order partner RupertGrint.net video of the interview is now online. In this funny interview, Rupert discusses his role as Ron Weasley and mentions he is playing Quidditch in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as briefly mentions the two part movies for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Rupert also says he has read all the Harry Potter books, with other topics ranging from the audition process he used to get cast in the Harry Potter series, to his ice cream truck. People were joking about Rup being a natural ginge, it was a reference to him performing naked and seeing whether the cuffs & collar match.

I agree with Julie and Ilia about the ‘actooor’ comment too. Actually, it’s ironic that burningpumpkins should have used the term so derogatively, since the HP films are almost exclusively peopled by ‘proper actoooors’ of the stage variety! But I don’t mind Dan being thought of in that way actually; I hope he gets there. His hard working attitude gives him the potential to succeed, as Equus showed, plus the fact he’s literary minded will help.

Talking of ‘proper actooooors’, Michael Gambon and David Bradley are both appearing together on stage soon in a Harold Pinter play. I’m really tempted to go, as Gambon is described as one of the most thrilling stage actors. Also, I just found out that Ralph Fiennes is in a play at the Guilgud (where Equus was) right now.

Laura, I couldn’t agree more. Between HP popularity and puberty, he definitely became more taciturn, shy and withdrawn.

Still, this was a really funny interview. I laughed so much at the end when Murray asked about waving the Weasley wand, and Rupert says: “It’s quite a BIG step.” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ilia: “People were joking about Rup being a natural ginge, it was a reference to him performing naked and seeing whether the cuffs & collar match.”

LoL. I didn’t get that joke because it completely escaped me while watching the AL Murray clip. He talks so fast, so I didn’t get it. Ha, ha. I was already wondering…

Accio I didnt catch that joke either haha! thanks Ilia! Oh and as for the ‘proper actooor’ comment I really didnt take taht to be a negative comment on Dan, I thought whomever said it was joking. To me it wasnt really that offensive. But maybe I just dont get offended that easily!

Great to see Rupert, not so great to see his interviewer.

The reason ‘actooor’ was derisive was because it followed a comment saying that actory people were full of bull s**t. Most actors on HP are thespians of the stage and proud of it.

Id just wish people commenting here for once stop being pretentious and just say out loud “Im a dan fan I hate rupert” or “Im a rupert fan I hate dan”. We all know that’s what your comments boil down to. Repressing it in your carefully thought essays only brings the bashing out more.

That was so funny!!!! I wish we had talk shows like that in the US. The host sipping a beer and actually being funny….What a sweetheart Rupert is, I love how all 3 of the trio seem so unspoiled by their fame…I mean really, his big splurge was an ice cream van. That is so cute and sweet (pun intended).

Well, I am a Rupert fan, and I DON’T hate Dan. I like Dan and Emma, I just seem to follow Rupert stuff more.

I don’t always post, but I do visit here just to see what others are saying outside of Rupert fandom.

I do hate it when thread turns negative when it comes to the actors. I’ve probably seem almost every Rupert interview, so I forget that others haven’t and are shocked when it “speaks” or something.

I like his interviews, I understand his voice, so when or if he mumbles, it doesn’t register to me. I hear and understand what he says.

Rupert is probably just situationally shy , and that is something that doesn’t go away. I recall the Moviefone interview with Jeremy Brock, when he said that he wasn’t an upfront person and that he likes to act because he gets to come out of himself.

Oh well, regardless, I do enjoy watching his interviews, especially the ones that the general HP fan sites may not show.

I wish all of the young HP actors well… :)

ok, what was different from this interview on regs to Rupert? NOTHING, he didn’t say anything new about himself or about the movie, the interviewer was doing all the talk and all the jokes, Rupert was sitting there laughing and pretty much not saying much, the same old Rupert, Rupert didn’t make me laugh, the interviewer did, Rupert didn’t pull any jokes, the interviewer did, Rupert was just there and giving small answers like always, I have learn nothing from this interview about the movie or about Rupert, only that he is the same old (almost 20 year old MAN) that pretty much says nothing in interviews, if it wouldn’ have been for the interviewer this could have been another boring Rupert interivew!

And if you disagree with me then you must be a blind Rupert fanantic.

People who aren’t ‘shy’ by nature just do not understand the difference between being slightly shy in certain situations and being shy full stop. As a naturally shy person myself I can tell you shyness is not something you ‘get used to’ or ‘grow out of’. Yes you can develop strategies to cope with certain situations but that doesn’t help you with everything, especially social situations.

Anne, I could not agree with you more. I am a very shy person who has a very un-shy sister who is always after me for holding back in situations because she just says get over it is easy. If you are not shy you have no idea the anxiety that goes through you every time you a in crowd or have to be in front of people. There are actually a lot of stars who are very shy and don’t do interviews at all. I think with Dan and Emma being so comfortable everyone thinks Rupert should be too.

Anyway, the Weasley wand comment was the best and when they gave him the wand did you see the confidence he had when waving it. That is because he is comfortable with that situation it is familiar to him. He sat up and went to the end of his seat at that moment and spoke with more force. Even though I don’t think the spell would work very well for getting rid of mice. :)
