Updated:Tabloid Reports on Supposed Rupert Grint Comments are False

Earlier today, many of you emailed, noting there have been reports making the rounds that actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) supposedly made some disparaging and negative comments about actresses Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, life in Hollywood, and comments about difficulty filming scenes with the actress who plays Lavender Brown in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Warner Brothers has let us know these reports, which first surfaced in UK tabloid The Sun, are entirely false and this matter is being addressed in the appropriate manner. UPDATE:: As a follow up on this matter, reps for Rupert Grint have issued the following statement: “In response to articles published this week, Rupert Grint wishes it to be known that he has never met Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton and has not nor would he, make any negative comment about them, as has been stated. He has also never made any negative comment about Los Angeles. He will be taking action against those parties spreading these falsehoods.”

I agree with EruditeWitch.

Anyone who’s EVER seen Rupert give an interview or statement knows that he generally allows Dan or Emma to do the talking and he gives short, monosyllabic comments such as “Should do, yeah” or “That’s kinda a cool, so yeah, should be fun” or “Looking forward to that, so yeah, um, it’s really really cool” or “I suppose, yeah”.

Attributing such a long, biting comment like that down to Rupert is really rather funny. Sad and completely wrong, but funny.

I wish people would stop saying “IF”.

these rumors are false. He never said that. It becomes hypothetical.

But more than just Rupes communicating very little, he also doesn’t exude any negativity in anything he does.

If those comments were really made by Rupert and WB is just covering up for him to preserve the HP image – then Lo and Behold ! We now know the real Rupert Grint. Looks like he’s not really the “shy” guy his fans insist he is. lol

I know this article is completely false. Not because of the anti Hollywood comment but because of that “best actor in HP” thingy. lol. For Rupert to say that LIndsay doesn’t know how to act is so ridiculous considering that Grint is not much of an actor either. At least Lindsay got nominated in some awards giving body. But Grint? ... pshew…

you can’t simply put other person “quote” in any magazine unless it’s true. can’‘t really do that in US but you can do whatever in UK. The Sun stole news from US tabloid all the time and gossip blogger stole from them again …so stupid

speaking of acting term alone no gossip involve Lohan works with legenday like Meryl Streep before girl has problem but what an actress

LOL, no duh the quotes are made up, Rupert’s never said that much to a reporter in his life.

And also why would Rupert have been considering moving to LA? That’s ridiculous, he’s committed the next 3 years of his life to filming HP in England. A load of BS all around.

The Sun is the worst newspaper available. They should provide you with a free pinch of salt for each story they publish!

I think a free barrel of salt might be more appropriate with regard to the Sun! Although despite the fact that it’s rubbish, as szaleniec said, it has a disturbing amount of influence. It’s something like the most widely read tabloid in the UK.

I completely agree with Eruditewitch. If you’ve actually seen a Rupert interview, he rarely speaks badly about anything – especially about anyone. He’s very diplomatic and never talks down anyone, even when he’s asked to (pet peeves, anyone?) – I think it’s just in his nature. He’s quite agreeable, and we love him for that and so much more.

I’m glad Leaky posted this story and I hope WB are dealing with it properly. I don’t want the world to think Rupert’s bitching about them – even if they deserve it – because that’s simply not him.

“And also why would Rupert have been considering moving to LA? That’s ridiculous, he’s committed the next 3 years of his life to filming HP in England. “

The reporter asked Rupert if he’s considering getting a pad in New York like what Dan did. He probably wanted a controversial answer such as: he’s not like Dan at all or somehting. What the reporter got about LIndsay was even more delicious IF Rupert actualy said those things. Probably not.

Rupert has never been the judgmental type. He is a gentleman and even makes friends with the likes of Lily Allen and Katie Lewis who have more or less the same reputation as La Lohan.

So all I can say about this news is the same thing that Ron said about Umbridge’s speech: “What a load of waffle!”

I don’t know about ‘most read’. Most looked at probably! For those who only ever see the web version, The Sun in the flesh (pun intended) is plastered with semi nude women on most pages. Gives you an idea what sort of paper it is. The Internet blurs these things which is a bad thing because it’s now difficult to tell respectable papers from the good ones.

By the way, Emma has had her fair share of nasty gossip too, usually regarding some man. Three different ones in one month was the record.

@Suzy on page 1, it used to be Tabloid size papers = rubbish, Broadsheet size = proper news. The only trustworthy UK newspapers are the Telegraph, Guardian, Independent, Times and Financial Times, the old broadsheets, but to confuse things these papers all now also publish tabloid size versions to make them easier for commuters to handle on trains! Original tabloid size papers, Daily Sport, News of the World, Daily Star, Mirror are all comparable to The Sun, and are mostly gossip. Express and Daily Mail pretend to be respectable but still publish more gossip than news, sometimes cleverly disguised as news (DM is horribly bigoted too which gets my blood boiling if I look at it for more than 5 mins!)

I wish Rupert would actually make comments like this. I’m going to choose to believe he said this stuff because it makes him more interesting and it makes me feel better to think he can actually string a sentence together!

This story is pure tabloid trash. Why was it put up on Leaky?

I hope this is not a sign of things to come.
