Oh hi and goodnight CoolG! No need to apologize, I had fun. Till the last 40 minutes, at least, when they really should have made it commercial free. I think you all got the sense that I was quite irritated and then just plain mad by them.

That is really some good foresight about the roast!! :) Even if unintentional. :)

Goodnight!!!

I have discovered something about myself. I am physically incapable of turning Harry Potter off once it is begun, even to go from watching it on TV to putting in the DVD with the added incentive of getting it commercial free. I just can’t do it. I kept saying, “OK, I will just watch THIS scene and then I will change to the DVD. OK, THIS scene, no, no, no can’t stop now, OK, after THIS scene…” and pretty soon the movie was over! Now the dilemma… do I start it ALL over to watch the DVD? Do I skip ahead and watch OoTP instead? Do I wisely shut the TV off altogether and get back to reading Twilight? Or even more wisely, go to BED at a decent hour? Maybe I’ll start a pool, you guys can all wager on which one I will do. :)

Those commercials really were shockingly poorly timed. And I agree with you, Huff, the last 40 minutes or so should have been commercial free for sure. sigh They just don’t get it!

Huff it was only a tiny little spell… LOL But I felt it necessary after all the trouble LadyHawke had with comcast when trying to get their phone service switched, remember? That was a nightmare, so I figured better safe than sorry. :) There was no quaking. I did hear some barking, but that could have been the dog next door.

My girls read the books themselves, but I read the first one before my oldest did (she was ten at the time) because I had heard all the hoolabaloo over the “themes” in the book and the Laura Mallory wackos out there, so I wanted to make sure it was OK for my daughter to read. That is when I got hooked! I read it twice before I would even turn the book over to her, LOL. Ever since then we have had a tradition of mother-daughter movie going and with the books, it’s something that I will always look back on as a very special experience to have shared with them as they were growing up. My son is resisting reading them himself as reading is not his favorite thing (he is 9 and very active, it is hard for him to sit still that long. But still.. I may have to do DNA tests on him to prove he’s mine, I just can’t understand how he is not a reader. But maybe it will kick in soon…) In any case, he is interested in the possibility of my reading them out loud to him instead, so we’ll see about that. He loves the movies, though, and everything to do with the world. He is Harry every year for Halloween and when we dress up for the book releases (no more of those! sob) and movies.

I was thinking it would be fun to do a group screening of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when it’s on next weekend, but it won’t work with it being on TV with all the time differences. Dang it.

On the games, Huff, I agree, just schedule them whenever works for the majority and I am sure everyone else will pop in and out as they can. I am pretty open over the next couple of weeks as far as I know, but we are missing a lot of people this coming week especially. I will leave that in your and Madame M’s capable hands! (And I know MM does an awful lot with the games and everything, but deserve a lot of thanks and credit as well. You both have worked really hard to make game nights incredibly fun for everyone. And of course they should be scheduled when you can be here if at all possible! Silly!)

Hi, PB!! I hope you are having a good weekend. Have you recovered from AI yet? I know that was really disappointing.

CoolG good to see you!! It feels like you have just been gone so much lately, I have been missing seeing you. I hope you are enjoying the races!

Ironsos I LOVE your new avatar!!! I grew up with Beagles and have one myself (although she actually lives with my parents right now, she is still my doggie!) I LOVE Beagles, they are such wonderful dogs.

This will probably be it for my (almost) 3AM Leaky time check in. I hope you all have a good night and will see you tomorrow. As Laura would say… “Carry on as if you were normal.” :) (I am having Herbert withdrawals.) XOXOXOXOX

JKR happily allowed the web version of the Lexicon and at a later date wants to ban the print version. Since she allowed SVA to do this in the past she set a precedent. Her claims are baseless. That is why she did not clearly win this lawsuit.

Morning all! I started to write my morning post about four hours ago, but moved to the laptop so that my DS could have a play, then I’m not quite sure what happened. I got sidetracked by the Fan Art gallery, hunting for real artists’ work to add to my file of stunning HP images.

LemonFaerie I read every word you write, long posts or short, unless you are talking sport. I’m a sportophobic.

Ironsos Nice avatar! Now you have a friendly face to match your personality:)

Deanie & Wolfie Happy travelling!

LadyHawke Thank you for your splendid account of your interesting day out. If I were not so creaky and unfit I could get interested. I’ll bet your daughter had a whale of a time. BTW, how is your husband getting on after his eye surgery?

Twin 2 I’m still wincing at the thought of all those household items damaged in the earthquake, but relieved that you were all unhurt.

I’m hungry. Bbl.

I’m looking forward to the performance of “Miss Austen Regrets” on TV tonight. It is another film about her life based upon her letters etc. Olivia Williams will portray Jane and I feel that she will prove to be well cast in this BBC production. I will give you my impressions tomorrow.

Huff I knew exactly where you were in GoF by your posts, but I was puzzled by your description of Myrtle as “creepy”. I found that scene in the prefects’ bathroom hilariously cheeky and it perfectly picks up the mood of Jo’s vision.

CoolG I’m glad that your absence is only due to the inaccessibility of your computer, lol!

Morning guys!

I had sooo much fun yesterday! The documentary is amazing; anyone who has a chance to see it should go. I laughed and cried so much – it really captures the spirit of the HP fandom. (For anyone who hasn’t seen the trailer yet, here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24fDD-P7iwU **Just to warn those who care, there is some swearing in the trailer. I get teary-eyed just watching that…I love all of Melissa’s parts!)

The concert was great too. Wizard Rock is definitely meant to be heard live! It was my first WROCK concert, and CDs just can’t come close to capturing the energy of the live show. Especially because you know you’re in a room filled with people who love HP as much as you do.

I am completely exhausted now. I didn’t end up getting home until almost 3am (which, as I’m sure you all know, is waaaaay past my normal bedtime!) because I stuck around to go to a showing of the SS movie, with live commentary provided by Brad Neely, one of the people featured in the documentary. It was absolutely hilarious!

Oh, and I did get to talk to Melissa there…I made sure to pass on our thanks for giving us our home here! :)

Okay, that was longer than I intended. I was just going to say good morning and that I would post details later because I’m still so tired. Well, anyway, I will post more details later, probably at CC. I got a few pictures at the concert, but I don’t think they came out too well because of the lighting; I’ll have to check. Now I’m going to go have coffee – lots of it – and will be back when I’m feeling more coherant! :)

Gooooood afternoon!!

BWJen so glad you had fun yesterday!! :) Looking forward to the pics. :)

Graymayne Perhaps I could have chosen my words better. I agree that the scene with Myrtle is really funny and true to the book, but I guess I find her voice and giggling a bit, well. . . creepy? Or just strange? Bizarre would’ve been better. Though her voice and persona fit quite well with her being a ghost of a shunned-teenager-who-was-killed-at-school, but nonetheless. ;) Not sure if that makes any sense.

Lemon I’m glad you agree about the commercials. But I am sorry you had to experience that. That is really something, that you couldn’t even switch to the DVD last night! Somehow the ads (or the omissions) didn’t get to me for the first three movies, but they sure did last night!! In fact, in the broad light of day, I am even more glad (?gladder?) they are not showing OotP next week. I think there’s much Huff-going-ballistic potential in that.

Barking next door, eh? Well, I will leave that to your good judgement. ;)

quack

That would be so cool if you could get your son to sit still just long enough for you to start reading to him! I think that is a great way to get him interested. If he likes the movies, the books have so much more action and jokes that I’m sure he’d get sucked into it quickly. And I imagine that you can inject the accents, pauses, and exclamations better than he can if he tried to do so quietly on his own. Not dissing him, mind, just that at age 9, he might not have gotten to hear too many accents to be able to “hear” them in his mind. I know I hadn’t at that age.

Tonight Cranford is on PBS at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central!!!!!!!!!!

BTW I would wager that Lemon went on to watch her DVD of OotP, after watching GoF on TV.

If not, reading Twilight I think is a distant second.

An even more distant third is watching the GoF DVD (though not impossible to wash out the bad taste of the commercials. . . I almost put this second but it sounds like she is quite addicted to Twilight too!! And watching the OotP DVD would effectively wash out the commercials, I think.)

Definitely did not go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Hi, all!

Well we had a thunderstorm this morning, but after that the weather cleared up, and it was a pretty nice day. We spent a lot of time in the garden, doing some planting and tidying up. The borders are beginning to look quite pretty. We are fairly novice gardeners, and generally do not have a clue what we are doing, but we do enjoy it! We have a fairly good track record with tomatoes, and chillies. Our front garden is a real sun trap, and the chillies love it there. I dry them, and we get enough to last all year. I’m just hoping this summer is good. Last year was a bit disastrous, the plants did not like all the heavy rain and strong winds! I am sure this summer will be a lot better! We’ve planted lots of other veggies too, and we are growing some seeds up on a sunny windowsill. Lots of fun!!

I actually deleted a lot of that last post, I was rambling a bit, lol! You really ??don’t??want a detailed list of all the veggies we planted, and the plans for all the seeds I’m going to buy in the week! I managed to rein myself in a bit!

It was just so nice to get our there, and feel some warmth!

Anyway….........!

Ironsos, what a sweet avatar! I hope this means you’re here to stay?!

Lemon, I read all your posts too. I really enjoy the, errr, “ones of more extravagant length!” They are fab.

Lady Hawke, my Dad, years ago, was a history teacher, and quite often used to take his pupils out on digs. It really must bring history to life, finding things that were real, and alive, so very long ago.

BWJen, it sounds like you had the most wonderful time! I hope the pics are ok! I’m glad you got to see Melissa, and say thanks from all of us! (They really are most incredibly patient with us, arn’t they! Bless ‘em!)

Huff and Lemon, I have read PS/SS, CoS and PoA aloud to my son. He enjoyed them very much, but he STILL won’t pick them up and read them himself! I am beginning to despair. I read to him every day as a baby/toddler, he sees me reading and enthusing about books constantly, so WHEN is he going to start! Apparently, reading is boring. Lemon, I’m right behind you in the DNA testing queue!

I hope Sunday is being fun and relaxing for everyone.

HEADMISTRESS LEAMON FAERIE; My first dog was a beagle. We got her at Easter Time so we named her Bunny. At first my mom was going to get me a rabbit. Being the little brat that I was at the time I told her I Was going to name it LUNCH.

I think lunch is a great name for a small pet. Like a rabbit,or duck,or chick,or fish,or cow.

But not for a hamster. That would be just plain weird.

Hi asti! Glad you got to work on your garden today. :) It’s fun to take care of, and seeing the plants grow is so satisfying! :) :) :) I wouldn’t have minded seeing what you planted, LOL! :)

I hope this summer is better than last, which sounds quite dementorish!!!!

Ironsos LOL Bunny the Beagle! :) Very cute. I like Lunch the Rabbit, too. :) I’m glad you saw forgetmenot’s Bunny!!

I think I’ve come up with some brilliant ideas with my 3.6 brain cells. At one point I had 4.2. Sometimes I feel like I have 1.7 and that’s no fun at all.

I refreshed my screen and cleared my cache, but your beagle isn’t showing. You might want to double check the email address associated with the gravatar account, since if there’s even one little letter misplaced, the picture won’t show up.

Headmistress LemonFaerie

I was getting ready to do my catch up post but I have about four minutes before an auction is ending on eBay, have to wrap a gift for a birthday party my son is going to, have to GET him to the party, have lunch, finish getting ready, do some more laundry and be ready to watch My Boy Jack (FINALLY!!!) on PBS this afternoon…. SO, I am just running through to say “HI, everyone!” and I will catch up later. :) I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday!

BTW Huff your second guess was correct, I ended up deciding to keep reading Twilight, mainly because if I don’t finish it soon I will have to deal with the wrath of LemonPrincess and that is a scary prospect, LOL. I am enjoying it a bit more now that I have gotten a little further into the meat of the story. My main complaint with it so far is just her writing style, she overuses the adjectives and adverbs so much that it is becoming a distracting issue for me while reading, LOL. And no, I did NOT go to bed at a decent hour! You know me so well!! :) :) :)

Also, you guys are so sweet about reading my posts, LOL, I appreciate all your nice comments. I really wasn’t trying to make an issue out of it or anything! I was mostly kidding but also understanding that I do get, um, carried away rather frequently! :) I know you love me anyway, but thanks for the reassurance!!!! You know I love you guys SO much.

Oops, OK, have to go or I am going to miss that auction!!! BBL, have a good one, all!

Good evening everyone!

I had a very busy day cleaning my balcony and arranging it properly. I put everything that had to go on the balcony in a corner and but the flowers (hostas, which I adore, and a few others) onto it. Now it really looks good and is scrubbed clean as well. Ready for spring/summer. Next week am going to by some seasonal plants. My lily-of-the-valley are nearly in bloom, while my violets just stopped.

Bunny says hello, too and wants me to state that he is indeed a bunny, lol. But he find it very funny that Ironsos has a dog with his name, lol :-) He also wants me to wave to Bug and Kitty.

Bunny get off with your sticky paws! Grrrr!

Hufflebug I like to garden and as I don’t have a garden, I do what I can on my balcony. I usually grow a few vegetables as well. On the balcony of my former flat I had beans and tomatoes and I tried strawberries, but that didn’t work out well. I also had salad and tomatoes and herbs, which I will have this year, too. I also will try to grow “Kohlrabi”. I don’t know how that is called in English and I am too lazy to look it up, lol. For the tomatoes I will have green, yellow and the small red ones. And if I can get hold of them I will try some woodland strawberries. They are easier to grow and have very small but also very sweet fruits all through the summer. I also have the usual summer flowers on my balcony in addition to those I mentioned above (which I have for several years and always get them through the winter). It always is very green and something always is in flower.

Sorry for the essay, lol.
