Glad to hear it PB, feel free to vent if you feel the need! :) Here or elsewhere!! Though I remember that you said you only wanted to go with her, keep an open mind/eyes. Not just for the ball but in general. . . though I’m sure you already do. O.O :)

Hey Harriett!

slides down some chocolate milk and chocolate milo to PB and Harriett

I just had some Ben and Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie . . . mmmmmmmm! Here’s some mint chocolate chip ice cream for you all!!

this poll is stupid…either Lexicons are fair use or they are not

plus don’t you think the voters might be a little biased since its JKR’s website?

JKR is stupid to pursue this, I will laugh at you all when it backfires on her, and yes it will backfire.

She sold out in book 7 and in this suit…shame on her!

Oooo Milo! Me and my sister had a big argument over whether we are going to buy Milo or just hot chocolate… I won :)

We just got a letter from school telling me when my voice lesson is. This time it is at the same time as my keyboard lesson. I’m never going to be in class between keyboard and voice lessons

PB :)

Ahh, the Davids have acquitted themselves on their second songs.

There is no way that Paula is not on something tonight. Weeeeird.

My apologies to my 2nd grade teacher for the double negative. ;)

Disregarding the majority of your post, BOB, but I am curious, how did JKR sell out in Book 7?

Harriett cool!! But if your voice and keyboard lessons are at the same time, how will you decide which to go to? Can they move one to another time? They both sound great!!! Also it doesn’t sound ideal that you will miss out on your other classes because of the lessons. . . surely there is a way to schedule things better!!!

My parents told me i am going to the keyboard lesson, because they are paying for me to do that.

I have to miss out on class time for music, it is the only way they can do it :(

@laura

read it…and then read other great stories…there was little original in her lousy 7th book, the story felt contrived and unnatural, its only saving grace was that it was part of HP.

Hufflebug

LOL I didn’t even notice BOB’s post till you mentioned it Laura! I was thinking about Harriett’s lessons!! :) Far more interesting. :)

Though BOB that is some opinion! But Laura has a good question . . . how did she sell out for book 7?

Posted by Hufflebug on April 29, 2008 @ 08:59 PM
Hufflebug

Ahh, I think I can see your point BOB in some respects. Though she does have common themes that tend to occur in the fantasy genre, I thought she gave them a good spin and added different twists. She actually said it in one of her interviews – I think it was when someone (can’t remember if it was an adult) asked why she had to kill off DD. She replied that in this genre, it’s important for the hero to go on alone (though in this case he had Ron and Hermione; similar to Frodo having Sam). So certainly, there are themes like that. But everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and I’m sorry you didn’t like the book.

Though that doesn’t have much bearing on the suit, now that I think about it. . .!

Harriett sorry you have to choose, but keyboard is good to learn! It’s very versatile and you can learn a lot of different musical styles!

Will you be missing a lot of class though? Or just one? Is there a way to attend some of them? Not that I am wishing you a Time-Turner, but knowing how much you like class, it’s a bummer if you have to miss out on a lot.

Oops, I had forgotten about AI (well, not exactly – I just forgot that it was on at 8, not 9), so I missed the first round of songs but saw the second. Based on that (and the ending clips of the first songs), I’d say that either Jason or Brooke needs to go home this week!

BOB, I like to think that I have read a lot of great literature, especially in the fantasy realm. I thought it was quite original and was not predictable – at least by me. I was riding on high emotion most of the book (especially the second half) and was on the edge of my seat. As I’ve said before ~100% of my predictions were wrong and I thought that DH was a great end to the HP series. The only things I didn’t really like was the epilogue (too campy), I thought Harry should die (meaning that in the best way possible), and the title should have been HP and the Elder Wand. I enjoyed DH on the first read and LOVED it on the second…and each one after.

Though I do agree with Huff that there are a lot of common themes in fantasy literature. Essentially, everything comes back to Lord of the Rings at some point. That’s to be expected, and its always interesting to see the influences writers (contemporary and past) have on each other. Like I said, I’ve read a lot of good literature…and I’ve read a lot of bad…

Hi ES! yeah, which is just weird. It’s like she never looks at her own tapes. I haven’t seen her show, but I can imagine. ;) While I like how supportive and kind she is, sometimes, she is just too weird.

Well, when you analyze 7 you have to take into account that in large part it was the first “stuff” Jo wrote… If not verbatim, then certainly in outline… So bearing that in mind I would HAVE to say she sure got better as time went along! OOTP & HBP are magnificent… JMHO… Cheers…

I started out thinking HPL should be able to publish, then I was on the fence not so much because of fair use but because I didn’t like RDR’s tactics. But having read some of the transcript (part 3, I’m working my way backwards) I saw a piece of evidence there that turned me against the HPL: 250 Quidditch entries? Taking information wholesale from Rowling’s two side books does nothing to help us understand the novels, and is pure plagiarism, considering those books are also in alphabetical order. Those snippets of “facts” about magic animals and sports are not useful in any way. They are there purely for entertainment value. I am sure there are some facts that are useful for Harry Potter, and those could be included in the Lexicon. That was the deciding factor for me. I agree with the spoiler aspect of it, too.

LOL I dunno what would be my dancing on a table song! O:)

ES Dancing with the Stars had Def Leopard on live with three couples dancing to his song (sorry Laura I don’t remember the name!). It was a little odd but they actually meshed really well!!

Harriett that’s unfortunate but assuming you have those two classes on other days of the week (I don’t know if your classes are five days a week, or Mon-Wed-Fri and Tues-Thurs), at least you will be able to attend the other sessions. But this makes it important for you to keep in touch with the teachers of those two courses, so you know what’s going on. . . and so they know you are trying!!

It would also be good for your teachers to know in advance, ideally from your parents or school academic counselor, so they don’t think your playing hooky.

Huff, your dancing on a table song is just the song you end up dancing on a table to, or , I guess, want to dance on a to every time it comes on. My maiden voyage dancing on a table was to Def Leopard. While I have subsequently ended up on a table to Charlie Daniels (“The Devil Went Down to Georgia”), “Pour Some Sugar On Me” will always be my first and most repeated.

Laura I’ll have to think of the song that would be my dancing on a table song!! I’ve been good, never danced on a table before! Though I have seen people dance on tables. . . yeah, not so pretty. ;) Though I can see potential in it. . .!!

Hmmmmm, which one is my must-dance-to song? :)

Of course, there are still a bunch of CC messages I had wanted to respond to while catching up. My next project will be to back-track and try to find them all! LOL
