Afternoon, all! Joining Laura slurking mark…

Madame M I am quite sure Ironsos does know that you are the Entertainment Hostess, there can be no questions about that. Its quite convenient, ordinarily, having the Entertainment Hostess and Castle Nurse be one and the same person as you are on hand at all the events where your skills might prove necessary. It’s only when we have these male creatures to deal with, who are so susceptible to your many charms that it could become a problem. If the poor man (or men) is already having heart palpitations from the SlutsRUs ensembles you put together to wear as Hostess, imagine how much worse it could make him to have you attending to him as his nurse in such garb! Or, heaven forbid, the nursing outfit you could get from them! OMG!!! We might should invest some of the Castle funds into buying stock in the largest supplier of portable oxygen as I foresee us going through it by the tankful….

BWJen where is LeakyCon being held? Boston or something right? I WISH I could go, I would join you there in a heart beat! I wonder how long it would take to drive….

Ella I hope everything went well today. :)

CoolG you sure are doing a lot of work, when does the relaxing part kick in? LOL That camper is going to look like new when you are done with it.

Twin2 if you come by, I have been thinking of you and Twin1 and hoping you guys are OK after all those earthquakes. Are they still going on? Have you decided to move for sure?

Flick it was good to see you drop by, but it was such a quick visit and you were gone again! Come back, come back!

Ginny Weasley hasn’t been on for several week day mornings, I hope she is OK. Has anyone heard from her?

I also want to send some shout outs to CHIB, we miss you! And to Trish I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you are doing well and enjoying every minute with your darling new baby girl. take care. What happened to Giant again, too? Another one who ran by then disappeared again. Hmph. Come back all you people! HBP news is on the way I can FEEL it!!!

Ironsos, I LOVE your posts!!!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of the special scuba tank! (I think you’ll find an ample supply behind the bar!)

You need to talk to Huff about her very special range of sunglasses!

BTW, I’m sure MM’s special offer coupons apply to the Men’s range at her special shop…. just ask for the manager, and you’ll be very well looked after!

LemonFaerie, the pics were great!

I have been playing on Amazon all evening.

And ebay.

I have been trying to track down an author I loved as a teenager. I finally discovered her name last night. Now I own 2 of her books! Unfortunately, most of her books are out of print and only available at prices over £50, which is irritating, as I used to own a lot of them! (Last known location, ex boyfriends Mothers attic, not going to try and reclaim them!!)

Have to go to bed,

ooohh! BWJen, I loved the 6 degrees of separation thing! So if Laura does get to meet up with Deanie next time she is home, she will be one degree from meeting Lady Hawke, is that the right idea??

Have fun, everyone!!

Mistic Willow, in my long post that vanished due to stupid internet, I said to you about Prince Caspian, and how much I am looking forward to it. I loved Lion, Witch and Wardrobe! Especially Lucy, she was just perfect! And I really hope the rumours are true about the HP trailer!

Goodnight everyone! xxx

Hi everyone! I’m back from my sister’s. We wound up going to a nearby state park, where the kids could run around, make sandcastles, and play on a playground. Not quite the same as the zoo, but it was a nice day nonetheless. I think I may have actually gotten a bit of a sunburn on my face, which is somewhat uncomfortable, but oddly enough, it feels nice too, as it reminds me of summer. Well, I’ve just caught up, so this will be a long post! (Just offering fair warning!)

LOL, Lemon – I wasn’t seduced away from Gryffindor…I was seduced in there to help out when there weren’t enough players. However, as you can tell by the results, I was in no way helpful to the house! ;) Sadly, I am nowhere close to being a Gryffindor; I am definitely not a brave soul. I usually score either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, with the scores being very close between the two. At some point, I read somewhere that your house goes by not only what you are but also what you value (I don’t remember where that was – has anyone else ever read that?), so I tend to lean towards Ravenclaw. I love information and learning and education, and I think that it has benefited me more than my hard work, generosity, and fair-mindedness (which has sometimes gotten me walked all over!) so that’s why I feel a greater pull towards Ravenclaw even though I do personally feel I have more of the characteristics of a Hufflepuff! Sooo…after that long dissertation, do I still have to come to your office? Or wait – will there be chocolate there? If so, count me in!

Lots of fun castle antics, I see!

Graymayne, I’m so glad you loved The Thirteenth Tale! The Gothic style that you mentioned was one of the things that really grabbed me. And as someone here (asti maybe?) pointed out, it never actually says when the “present” of the book is actually taking place. So there’s a timelessness about it – it could be modern or it could be a hundred years ago. It’s just so brilliantly written; I look forward to reading more from Setterfield in the future! (Rhiannon, I completely understand your difficulty in describing the book to your daughter. At the bookstore, I was recommending it to as many customers as possible, and still never managed to come up with a concise description that would do the book justice without giving away too much. Mostly I just rambled about how it’s an intriguing story – within – a – story.)

LOL, love the newest Anonymous post…or should I say Da Beetle, since the poster said there should be “distinction within our anonymity” (that one cracked me up!). Hmm… I thought it must be Lemon, but since she was converted into a Snape supporter after DH, I’m not sure that she’d implicate Snape into the whole mess. I must read on to look for more clues as to the reporter’s identity!

Lemon, yes, LeakyCon is in Boston. You should definitely look into how long it would take to drive! ;) Actually, there is a thread in the new forum on the Lounge for people to discuss travel plans are meet potential travel companions. Maybe you could meet someone to carpool with. Or…you could finally get yourself on a plane. It just takes practice to get used to it, so first you should fly over this fall/winter to see Equus; then you should come to LeakyCon; and that way, by the time the theme park opens, you’ll be an old pro at the whole flying thing! :D

Hi asti! Yes, I think that’s the basic idea with six degrees of separation (I’ve never actually played it myself, LOL!) Who was the author you were looking for? I’m wondering if I’ve ever read her…or if it will be a new name to add to my list! Oh, and seeing the Narnia mention reminded me that I wanted to say I’ve finally finished The Magician’s Nephew and started Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, which I am liking much better! Actually, even Magician’s Nephew got pretty good once they actually got to Narnia; it just sort of dragged before that. I’m hoping to have finished all the books and seen the first movie before Prince Caspian comes out. I really want to see that in the theaters (especially if the HBP trailer will be playing with it)!

Quickie check in!!

Mistic Willow I had a great trip, thanks! And thanks for missing me . . . I missed you too!! How are you? I love your beach-y avatar! :) I was wondering if you’re watching Dancing with the Stars. . .? And are you still watching American Idol?

Ironsos Hi! yeah, I know about the eyes. Hence my continued wearing of shades. ;) Glad to hear the ticker’s ok!!

Anonymous Ahhh, I thought you were one-and-the-same! Such investigative skills is not common and I thought it was too much to think that there were two of you out there! Excellent job discovering the plots of Prof. Snape and Ms. Umbridge. . . shudder is right!!!!!! And I’m glad you got Rhiannon help. Though I have noticed a slight proclivity of yours to sedate people, yours truly included. Do be careful – The Leaky Times only has so much insurance taken out! Though we can always use good ol’ “it was to protect others from the ravings of Mr/Ms XYZ”. ;) I’m glad the funds came in so handily too. Be sure to bring back some of those little shampoo bottles for the rest of us. Ooooh, and if they had robes. . . !!!

Could that young healer come back over and sedate me again? Daniel hasn’t finished reading The Bridges of Madison County yet!

It is four PM. I have a deskful of work to finish and I have just caught up from Friday night. And by the way, I did leave on Friday for food. It took me 10 minutes to get home, make a PB&J and log on to the DS’s computer. So I was not confused about that.

See people are eating chocolate and drinking again already…Obliviate. Thanks I feel so much better.

Hi, guys! How is the afternoon going? I am ridiculously excited to see Dancing With the Stars tonight! Getting to the good stuff now…

BWJen I see, I see, we grabbed you away from your true House. sigh Well, come on by my office anyway, we’ll have ourselves some chocolate and a nice long gossip. I have tales to curl your toes! :) As for flying to Boston (or New York OR Florida….) I really wish I could make myself do it. I used to fly all the time. I am planning to gear up in time for the FL trip because no matter what I do not want to miss everyone being together for that. But then I was thinking…. we need to plan that for AFTER the final DH movie comes out, I am taking no chances until then, LOL.

Mistic I am good, how are you? Or, well, actually I have to get to my two week shopping expedition and I have been putting it off all day. I am slurking along with everyone else, LOL.

Laura does that make me a slurking slut? What are the qualifications? Do we have to fill out an application? Or take one and NOT fill it out, that would probably fit the profile better.

I hope your eyes have stopped burning, Ironsos, that was just a small preview. Did you find out about the insurance? LOL

asti glad you had good luck finding your books, it always makes me happy to score something I really want on eBay. I also lost a box of books to the nether reaches of an ex-boyfriend’s house. They were definitely favorites, so I repurchased them all, but the new ones don’t have the cool original covers. sigh Oh, well, it’s what’s inside that counts (in books AND men, LOL)

Huff I LOVE the advice to Anonymous/Da Beetle on the sedation, you are quite right she does seem to offer that up as a solution pretty frequently, I was ROTFLMAO!!!! LOLOLOL

Hey, Josephine! How have you been? Doing lots of lurking and catching up but not much posting, what is new with you???? Fill us in. Come by my office with BWJen for some chocolate and some hot gossip! ;)

Have to run again for now, I will BBL!

hi! i’ve visited the leaky cauldron before but this is the first time i’ve noticed this place. what are you doing anyway?

Posted by dragon rider on May 05, 2008 @ 07:35 PM
Graymayne

I seem to have become a TV couch potato this weekend. I did see one more Brother Cadfael production, followed by an instalment of a detective story by PD James and then an Hercule Poirot through which I managed to doze. This evening I watched the second part of a disaster TV movie entitled “Flood” which concerned extreme weather conditions in the UK which caused a storm surge to overtop the Thames Barrier and flood the centre of London. It was very well done, very tense and scary as hell, because it was all based upon the rising sealevels and doubts about the ability of the Thames Barrier to be effective if icecaps keep melting at their accelerated rate.

BWJenn Were you the original reader who recommended “The Thirteenth Tale”, I have rather lost track? Anyway, that was a good point about the present being very vague. There was no mention of electronic gadgets or computers or cell phones, nor even television that I can recall. I suppose that, being of a generation that did not grow up with these things I didn’t miss them. Mmmm, interesting.

I’ve had my hot chocolate so it is bed for me. See you tomorrow, folks.

Hi Dragon Rider! Welcome to our little corner! We started posting on the poll topics, but way-back-when (well before I started posting), someone got off topic and a conversation was born. Now we have a group of regular posters, all of whom were drawn here by a common love of HP, but we discuss all sorts of other topics. Eventually we get back to HP, though not necessarily on the poll topic. :) We’ve become quite good friends in the process. There are people from all around the globe! :)

We only have a few simple/common sense “ground rules” – minimize the text messaging abbreviations (though you’ll see LOL, ROTFL, ROTFLMAO, BTW, FYI and others I’m sure I’m missing), “agree to disagree” politely, and be nice!

Our official Welcome comes from Deanie, who hopefully will be around this evening.

So kick back, relax, and hang out for a bit!

Usually, this time of day is quieter as people across the pond are asleep, and the state-siders are getting home from work/making dinner. I myself am doing laundry, whooo-hoooooooooo! ;)

I am also the unofficial barkeep, so if you’d like a drink, let me know!

I’m having a Butterbeer myself. :)

Huff – I will not be held responsible for you missing your show due to the antics in the castle young lady! You know perfectly well we were ALL singing and you not once mentioned that you wanted to see something on TV.

If we would have known that, we would have made sure your eyes were splinched from your body and sat in fromt of the TV, while the rest of your body was at the Great Hall dancing with us on the tables. Your shades will have hid the grotesque sight of your eyeball less face. LOL
