Beware that our comments may contain spoilers for the seventh and final Harry Potter book!

Hi, guys, I am making my “late night check in” a bit early this evening. We just got back from dinner. My son earned a free thingy from Red Robin for getting to a certain percent on his AR goal (YAY!!! He has almost made it!! Two more weeks to get to 100%, I cannot WAIT until this is over this year!) and then LP had to scour the town for a book that just came out that she has been ding for and Borders was CLOSED by the time we went there. But all is well in her world, Target was open and had it, unlike Wal-Mart, which we tried yesterday but didn’t have the darn thing. Anyway… so we just got home but the DS is making eyes and noises about me being back on the computer again first thing in the door, so I am going to have to cut this short tonight.
I mainly wanted to say hi to everyone, of course, and that I was glad Madame M checked in and is feeling better, but after reading your story MM about that poor boy at school… I am in tears and just can’t think of enough vile things to say about those horrid boys and that mother. I am so glad that you and the principal were there to help and that you said what you did to that mother, that took guts. Maybe, just maybe, that mother will wise up a touch and think about what you said and why a five day suspension is MORE THAN warranted. I wish so much I could just hug that boy. I wish I could cast an Obliviate for him so he would never remember this. Because you are right, he is going to remember this the rest of his life. It’s just horrible. I am so sorry they did that to him. :( {{{{HUGS}}}}} to you for telling that mother what’s what. I love you.
I will see you guys tomorrow, I hope you all have a good night. XOXOXOX

Hey, Deanie, good luck! I am crossing fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes, everything!! Don’t forget my 10%!! LOLOL Just kidding. But really… No, just kidding. But good luck!

Morning all! Just a quick check-in before I catch up on the posts. I didn’t get back last night, we had borrowed “Walk the Line” from a friend and I was too tired after gardening yesterday to log back on afterwards.

Morning all
BW jen I think I might name your slug after my friend sirius ha ha ha ha sirius I’m only joking, the slug is way too nice to be named after you. Also I’m going to search the Internet for the Dr Who episode later today and if you are pulling my leg then I am gonna hunt you down…
PB what an insult to get me mixed up with Sirius really how could you, i want to cry :-) I’ll forgive you though, with my dazzling personality, stunning good looks and overwhelming modesty its no wonder I am on your mind all the time – and I have an English accent too ha ha ha
Korey’s Friend thanks for letting us know about korey, fingers crossed that she will be back on line soon.
and last, but definitly not least….. HAPPY BIRTHDAY laura, I’m not going to ask how old you are, because I know that you are younger than me, but whatever age you are its a cause for celebration and hopefully you will have the opportunity to drink yours (and Herberts) body weight in beer today.
OK back to catching up – I have a couple of pages still to read. oh and huff I am impressed you really are a powerful witch, can you visualise me winning the lottery please

hey MM your story about the boy made me really sad, it reminded me of my nephew who suffers horrendous bullying at school. He has social and communication problems and so is percieved as odd by all the other kids at school, which makes him a target for all the bullies.
The fact that the school took such a strict stand against the bullying should be commended. My nephews school do not have an anti bullying policy. When I asked in a meeting why they didnt have a policy I was advised that it was because they dont have bullying in the school. I actually laughed at that point in the meeting because it seemed ridiculous to think that you can have over 1000 children aged 11-16 in one building and not have any bullying at all.
As the school dont have a joined up approach to bullying they deal with every incident seperately. So the bullies are punished (usually by being given detention), but what I cant make the school understand is that they need to take a more holistic approach to the bullying. When I reviewed the bullying incidents the same names kept coming up over and over again. When i raised it with the school they kept pointing to each individual incident and saying ‘but that incident was resolved, we gave the boys detention’. They couldnt understand that the particular incident might have been resolved, but the bullying problem wasnt, because a week later the same boys would do something else. They couldnt grasp that they werent looking at the bigger picture.
The other week my nephew had his hood ripped off his coat on the Wednesday (my mum sewed it back on), on Thursday someone chewed up a creme egg and spat it in his hood (my mum had to wash it out by hand), on the friday they attacked him with sticky tape, wrapped it round his body and taped him up – and thats just in one week.
Some of the individual teachers at the school have been very good (especially his head of year), but unfortunately they are all under pressure because of Ofsted reports and lack of funding-so bullying is never a real priority.
Sorry I think I have posted a mega rant :-)

Morning all!
I forgot to thank Korey’s friend for updating us on Korey’s condition…please let her know we’re thinking of her and looking forward to hearing from her when she’s feeling up to it!
Good luck, Deanie! I usually play the lottery whenever the jackpot gets really high (which is quite a ridiculous statement, actually, because in reality, the jackpot is always really high – I think Powerball starts at 10 or 15 million…is that really anything to scoff at? LOL), but I’ve never actually felt drawn to any particular numbers. I do hope it’s a good sign that you couldn’t get these out of your head. Don’t forget to throw a real-life castle party for all of us with your winnings! ;)
Hey, that reminds me – in my continuing efforts to convince someone from here to join me at LeakyCon, I have to pull out the big guns and ask… did you guys see that the hotel actually owns its own CASTLE?! It’s right across the street from the hotel (I found it when I was in Boston the other day and took a picture…it’s not a great picture because we were too tired to walk all the way over to it, but I think you can still tell that it’s a castle – I’ll post it on CC.) And… LeakyCon will be hosting a BALL at this castle! How exciting is that? This is our chance to have a real – life ball in a real-life castle!! Come on, now…that’s bound to convince someone to come! Pleeease :)

Good Morning Everybody & Leaky!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S FRIDAY IT’S FRIDAY IT’S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY FRIDAY TO EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi wolfie!
That is absolutely horrible about your nephew’s school; I’m so sorry he has to go through that! I cannot understand how the school can fail to see that this is a major problem. And if your nephew is being treated like this so often, I can only imagine how many other kids it’s happening to as well (and perhaps some of them are even too frightened to come forward, especially if they know nothing serious will actually be done about it).
I wonder if you and your sister could gather a group of other concerned parents/relatives to start a petition or something to demand that the school reevaluate its policy. Maybe the administration would pay more attention if they realized that you are not the only ones unhappy with their current methods.

Good morning Mistic! This is the one week in which I am not happy about it being Friday… it means my vacation is almost over! :(
Where is forgetmenot? I haven’t seen her since she posted her pretty little forget-me-not flowers. FORGETMENOT! Come out, come out, wherever you are! ;)

thanks jen. the problem is that because of my nephews problems, especially with language, he often can’t differentiate between joking and bullying. This means that the teachers will sometimes dismiss his complaints as a misunderstanding – so it makes it difficult to get them to take any action or to listen to our concerns. However, there is a lot of physical abuse taking place and that cant be dismissed as a misunderstanding.
We have spoken to the board of governors who have control over the school, but it didnt help. If I had more time and was at home more often I would apply to join the board of governors, because that way I could challenge some of the decisions that are made – including the decision not to produce a formal anti bullying policy.
The school have admitted that there is a problem with ‘morale’!!! and to address this they propose that in addition to the school uniform the children already wear they are going to be made to wear blazers to give them some pride in the school. As the blazers cost £60 each ($120) – I am not sure how making parents pay more for the school uniform will help with bullying.
My sister is actually looking at taking my nephew out of the school and sending him to live with his dad. The area where his dad lives has better schools and they are much smaller. I think my nephew would benefit from this type of environment.
My sister has been involved with other people whose children are also bullied, but its not really helped. Most of the parents are now taking their children out of the school.
The unfortunate thing is that my neice who is a year older, very popular and has lots of friends, is now finding that she is being bullied because everyone knows she is my nephews sister – its caused her to start having panic attacks at school.

Hey Hufflebug, It is about time we had someone from Hufflepuff, I couldn’t think of anyone from there, that I admired more!!! than Cedric Diggory!!!!!!!!

gooooooooooooooo morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn

Hello Wolfie & Elmo, All we have in DC and Most of Maryland is RAIN RAIN & MORE RAIN!!!!!! How is the weather where you are??

Hello Hufflebug, Cedric Diggory was always one of my favorite’s from Hufflepuff, I like Susan Bones also, she was also in Hufflepuff!!! How are you doing this morning??? I am at work now, and I can not stay for too long right now, but I will he here off and on today!!!

hey mistic we have sun, sun and more sun in the UK. Its great – i have been working in the garden again this morning.

O.O
ahhh, awake! Confundus charm begone!!!!
Whooooo-hoooooooooooo Cedric!!!!!!!!! :D :( :D :( :D :(
Good morning Mistic, BWJen, and wolfie!!!
wolfie that is really awful about your nephew and niece!!! I hope he is able to go to the nicer school. That is just too bad!! :(
sorry gotta go, will catch up later!

Wow, wolfie, that just makes me even angrier! What in the world is a blazer going to do to stop kids from treating other kids so poorly?! Where do these people come up with these things? You would think that the fact that more than one student is being taken out of the school would be an eye-opener for them!
And I wish I could come give your niece a big hug too. I know how awful panic attacks are, and I’m so sorry she’s having to experience them. It must be really hard for her; I hope that her friends are at least standing by her and supporting her. Hopefully that will help her get through this until the school wakes up and realizes something must be done!

Back again! I’m glad we spent time in the garden yesterday because we’re having showers this morning.
Laura Here’s a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Lemonfaerie I’m sorry to have caused alarm and despondency by failing to post yesterday morning. The sunshine dragged me outside in the garden and there I stayed most of the day.
Forgetmenot This is a SHOUTOUT! Coooeeee!
Korey’s Friend Thank you for posting about her hospital stay. We look forward to hearing from her soon.
MM That was a horrid school tale! This is just the time when you wish you could wave a wand and make him break out in serious spots just to give him a taste of his own medicine. “Furnunculus”! I’m glad you put the mother in her place.
The Book Thief I didn’t make a note of who recommended this book, Asti maybe? Anyway after the first few pages I settled into the unusual style and I am absorbed.
Asti I totally ignore metrication on the rare occasions that I resort to cooking. All my cookbooks are old ones anyway and my scales are the ones with weights so they work with whichever system you choose. I did roll my eyes recently when buying “nets” for the window. Having worked out the metric measurements beforehand for the benefit of the retailer, the shop assistant promptly converted them back!!
Deanie You have seriously impressed me with your weights and measures analysis. Bbl.

BWJen you must be channeling Bella. . . but I agree. . .!!!
Please come back!!! We miss you!!!!!!! :)
Mistic woot for Susan Bones!! Her poor aunt (I think Madame Bones was her aunt, right?) I’m doing ok, thanks for asking! Today will be a busy morning but then hopefully things will calm down in the afternoon. :)
wolfie I may be a powerful witch but I can’t lie about the lottery. . . no wait! I do foresee something. . .
I seeeeeee wolfie getting trollied on the tube in 2 weeks!!!!! Being cited for said behaviour on the tube!!! (see I spelled it your way so you could understand. . . :P) Aaaaaaaaaand. . . meeting lots of old rich men!!!!!
I know, amazing. :P
Lemon woot for your son!! :D
Ooop, really gotta go now . . . BB this PM!!

Graymayne, I’m glad you were able to enjoy the sun for the short time you had it! More rain here today too. I believe it was asti who originally recommended The Book Thief, though others have agreed with her. I definitely want to read it; I have it on my list, but unfortunately last time I went to the bookstore, I didn’t have my list with me and forgot to pick it up. :(

Morning, Leaky people! ;)
Yesterday’s thunderstorms did not materialize, but we did get some light raiin around midnight. ;)
Before going to bed last night, I took some benadryl so I could breathe and sleep. Today I have an anti-histamine hangover. :(
Overcast and hazy at the moment, but it is supposed to “burn off” later. High is expected to be around 82 F. ;)
Off to fake productivity. ;)
Bbl. ;)

Heading out for the day…
Back up to Boston to visit the aquarium with sis and nephew.
Talk to you tonight! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA, AND MAY YOU HAVE -MANY MANY MANY MORE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oH Hello Elmo!!!!!!

SHOUT OUT FOR – FORGETMENOT!!!!!!!!!!
CALLING FORGETMENOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COME OUT FORGETMENOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waaaaagh…. What a night! No tornados here, but just about everything else…. BEEEEG thunder storms… Shook the house & awakened me several times! Strong winds too… I gotta go out and put all the stuff that was blown around back where it belongs… Latr folks…

Happy Friday, Leaky!
it’s May and it’s still cold – right now it’s about 8C ….brrrr…

Good Morning Eveyone
Graymayne Glad that you had a sunny day yesterday. Like a lot of people, we had rain and more rain.
Mistic Willow Ya for Friday. I need to put all this material away to get ready for the weekend. I’ve spent several days just looking at it draped over my chair to make sure I liked my choice before actually cutting out the material. I think I can live with it. Lol
My fireplace just kicked on. Is it cool outside? No I’ve been out without a coat. It must be the dampness but it must be cool in the house because my hands are cold.
Won_Two I don’t think I answered your comment about Jeff Gordon. Yes he did make a good comeback. Although he’s my #1 driver, I’m still angry about Bush wrecking Junior. Maybe it was Sirius who talked about Jeff. I’m not use to having two people here to talk Nascar. Lol I think it was Sirius. On to Darlington This Week. BTW did either of you read the article that says Bush is the next Intimidator? Just because he drives like a maniac, doesn’t mean he can hold a candle to Dale Sr. A world of difference between the two men.

Greymayen Keep a hankie nearby for the Book Thief. Very unusual book writen from a very unusal point of view. Liked it, but can’t say I loved it. My hankie is too damp.

I’ve been gone for hours, I didnt realise how late it was – I am working on some really detailed data analysis and it is turning my brain to cheese (Huff keep that bug away I need all my brain cells today – BTW you really are an extraordinary witch, but you forgot to mention that being the selfless person I am, I will be meeting lots of rich old men for the sole purpose of giving some of my leaky friends the opportunity to become a trophy wife).
Jen There is going to be a meeting at the school to discuss the blazers, I have invited myself along :-) Have a good time at the aquarium – and enjoy your last day of leave
Graymayne I’ve recommended the book thief to 4 other people and they have all enjoyed it – and definitely have a full box of tissues ready.
OK back to work for me – stupid data analysis, I dont even like maths.

Happy Friday, Leaky!
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! Sorry I didn’t check in yesterday, but I took the day off and stayed away from the computer! I missed yall, but it was refreshing.
Maybe I’ll actually try to catch up this time ;)

Hey guys,
I’m home. I had to have my entire thyroid removed. Yes it was/is cancer. I will have to have radioactive iodine. I don’t know when though. Being that my whole thryoid was removed, my parathyroid got a little “angry” and wasn’t processing calcium well. It seems to be bouncing back and they released me.
I will try to catch up and post in between pain pills and la la land.

Korey So glad that you are all right and back at home. Yes, it will take a little time for everthing to take up the slack. Good thing they have so many medicines for thyroid therapy. But even that will take a while to get the right doses. Hope you will contionue to recuperate at a fast rate.

Hiya Cool G… No my comment was not about Jeff… It was about Tony…. I said that it looks to me like ol’ Smoke has been putting away a few too many smoked sausages lately… almost looks preggers!!! lol lol… He won’t be climbing any more fences… lol

Hey everybody long time no talk. Sorry I haven’t been around in a while… I found out last week that the company I work for is going out of business. So I sort of freaked out and have been keeping to myself. Being unemployed sucks! But anyways just wanted to let you guys know that I was still alive lol. How have you all been?

Won_Two Lol about Tony. I thought he was on a diet and had lost some weight? At least he had in the new commercials. Maybe they took them before he gained the weight back? About the fense, it will be wait and see. He has to win a race before he can climb the fense. Lol
Didn’t he win several weeks ago in the Nationwise? He didn’t climb the fense then but I think he just climbs it for the Sprint races I don’t know, it could have been a couple of months ago instead of weeks.Lol

Ginny So nice to see you. Someone was just saying the other day (Lemon?) that you hadn’t been on for awhile. Sorry about the job. You are so talented that maybe it won’t be long until you find a new one. One that lets you lurk on Leaky more. There’s a new word for it but it escapes my mind at the moment. Lol

Won_Two Of course I’m watching practice. I watch more Nascar on TV then I watch regular TV shows. Lol

Korey, glad to hear that you’re back home and everything is starting to get regulated. Glad to see you back on Leaky!
Hi Ginny. Thanks! And welcome back! I’m sorry to hear about the job, good luck with everything, and if you need a break at anypoint – feel free to come down to Boulder! ;)

Korey Glad to hear you are back home. Take it easy over the weekend. Sending healing spells your way.

Madame Minerva, I just wanted to thankyou again for my dress from Sluts-Ruts, It fits me perfectly, and I love the color you chose!!!!!!

Whoo Hoo Jr is second fastest in practice by 4 /100ths of a second…. Looks like he likes the Lady in black just like his dad… Did I mention this is my favorite track?.... I love this place….. I love to hear the drivers complain about how the wall “jumps out at ya”... lol lol…. Always action at Darlington…. I see the practice session has planted a lot of Darlington stripes… Hee hee… LOve it!

Hey laura are you enjoying your birthday??? I’m having a beer for you :-)
Korey nice to hear from you and glad you are back home.
Ginny losing your job sucks, I am really sorry. If you need any help with a CV (resume) or anything then let me know – I’m happy to help out
Hi coolg when do you plan to travel in your new van? i cant remember whether you have been away in it yet
Hey won two

HI ALL!!
Cool with light rain here in the city of salt.
KOREY; Glad to see you are home. Hope you get feeling better very soon.
WOLFIE I am old but not rich. does that count for anything? I am very young at heart though.

Hey Cool Grandma! Well thanks hopefully I will find something soon! That would be awesome if the next job I found gave me more time for leaky!!
Hey Laura!! I might take you up on that!!
wolfie- Thanks wolfie!! If I don’t find something in the next couple of weeks I might take you up on that!!

Hi wolfie. The birthday was yesterday – it was ok. I’m ready to move on now.
Hi Ironsos. Sorry to hear I can’t go after you for a Sugar Daddy ;)
I must admit that, for as big of a sports fan I am, I don’t get car racing. I mean its “Drive fast. Turn left. Drive fast. Turn Left.”

Hey Ironsos I take my cue from MM – age is no barrier to flirting :-) Unfortunately some of the more materialistic girls on here (ha ha ha) – are determined to marry rich old men so that they can become Trophy Wifes and spend all day lazing around at each others house drinking wine and reading books. Obviously I would never stoop to such underhand tactics.
