I could lie and tell you that it is an ancient custom in the UK to celebrate the day after a persons birthday… but I dont think anyone will believe me.

ginny if I can help in any way then just give the word :-)

Ironsos, I think you and Sirius B are out of luck there. These younguns want to be “trophy wives”. Very high maintenance. ;)

They had a whole discussion on the types of cosmetic surgery they might need in order to qualify. mostly it was “enhancement” surgery and not to their faces. If you get my drift. ;)

Since they are all very smart, they would have to “dumb down” to qualify, too. ;)

Modern young women have a hard time trying to “dumb down”. They spent their whole lives with mothers and grandmothers telling them that they are as smart as and perhaps smarter than their male counterparts.

I agree, they are as smart and as good and as motivated as the males and this is a good thing. But it makes the game of chasing a man until he catches you a bit more difficult.

Young women are better prepared to face the world and a career, but I think they miss out on a lot of the perks of being a woman.

Just my thoughts on it. ;)

That will make qualifying tricky for all those who wrecked and have no chance to do a run befor practice.

I meant to say do a run befor qualifing. No worries. They have another back up back up car but is it at the track?

Hi everyone!

Gosh what a POO day I’ve had!

I had a hospital appointment at 11, which meant I needed to leave just after 9 to make sure I was there in time. I got there at about 10.40. Guess what time I was called?

12.50!!!!

I was not a happy bunny.

The good news is, there is nothing wrong, and I have been discharged from the clinic, but that makes it even more irritating, I was out of the house for 6 1/2 hours for something that took 20 minutes and wasn’t neccessary in the first place!!

Anyway, I know my rant is sounding very petty compared to Korey. I am so glad you are home and recuperating, but so sorry the result was bad. But GOOD FOR YOU for pushing so hard to get a diagnosis and treatment, you knew some thing wasn’t right. Now you can really look to getting the meds sorted, and getting better. Thanks to your friends for letting us know you were doing ok!

Graymayne, I’m glad you are enjoying The Book Thief. Yes, I have been raving about it, but it was Wolfie who first mentioned it. BTW, take heed of what others have posted. DO NOT read it in public, and have your DS stand by with a box of tissues at the ready!

Ginny, I’m so sorry to hear about the job. Will you get a redundancy package to tide you over for a few months? I hope so, it’ll give you a bit of time to find another job that suits your Leaky slurking needs! Seriously, I hope it works out well for you. xx

I know there was more, but I am a bit frazzled and can’t remember. I am around for a while, so if I am inspired, I’ll let you know!

Big hello’s to everyone!

Oh, wolfie, don’t sweat it. You should finish your 4th drink…and then have a 5th. And, in fact I’ll join yall because I didn’t drink with yall yesterday! Gin and tonic for me!!! Gotta fight off the malaria and scurvy somehow!!

Deanie, my great aunt asked me a few years ago when I was going to “give up all of this school stuff” and get married. It was an interesting Christmas all around ;)

Wolfie We are not planning on going out in the camper until sometime next month. I don’t know exactly when because the D/S hasn’t told me the exact date. Well he might have but I didn’t write it down so don’t know for sure.

Today I have been taking clear containers that will fit under the bed and switching things around so I can put them in the camper for storage. Well, put them in the storage places.Lol

DEANIE I much prefer women for their natural beauty.

Well, in her day, women went to college (university) to get a Liberal Arts degree and catch a husband, not necessarily in that order. ;)

That is why the vast majority of my high school classmates went, too. ;)

I am sure you are better prepared to handle a career and life in general. But I do think you could all use a course in “how to make a man feel larger than life”, even when he only barely meets your minimum requirements.

I have found that those who barely meet requirements have friends who are frequently wonderful. ;)

Ironsos, I agree with you, and if I get referred again, I will try and wait with patience, (not a virtue of mine, lol!) but I’d already had the relevant tests and scans, and they’d all come back clear. I am hugely relieved, but I knew all was ok ages before today, hence my frustration!

I hope your health issues are ok and managable?

Hey laura I have had similar experiences with some of my family. My favourite thing is when they talk about my sad pathetic childless, husbandless life while I am sitting with them. It doesnt matter how much i have travelled, how many qualifications I have, how many friends I have – it unfortunately means nothing because I am not married and dont have children. The good thing is that if i look pathetic enough they will usually let me have the last piece of cake (who needs a husband when you have cake?)

Ironsos whats your type? I’ll make it my mission to find you someone who will let you be their Trophy husband.

asti sorry about the poo day – stupid clinic. I hate going to the hospital or clinic you can waste half your day waiting for an appointment. It’d be ok if the doctors looked like they do in ER, but I have yet to see George Clooney at any of the hospitals that I have been too.

Also I didnt realise I had recommended The Book Thief – how cool am I recommending a book that people like (now that I have got all big headed and boastful about it, i’ll find that it was actually someone elses recommendation).

Gool G, I used to take my MIL to the doctor. She could see well enough to drive, but gave it up voluntarily because she was too nervous in traffic. ;)

Since I loved her it was easy to make the time. I am sure your family feel the same way.

We have a little transit company (more like taxi service) that will take seniors to the doctor and then come back and pick them up for $2.00 each way. That is much ceaper than a taxi would be. They have a van with a wheelchair lift and they pick up a load of people. It only runs on Tudsay ans Thursday.

Most of the local doctors have staff who will rearrange the doctor’s schedule to accomodate the seniors who they know are dependent on the van for transportation.

Of course, that means that younger people and those who have other transportation may have to wait a bit longer to see the doctor. But it does not leave the van riders stranded.

All together it works out well and most people don’t even know they have been shifted to accomodate the seniors. ;)

wolfie, I had a fantastic male nurse at the emergency room this summer. Not the same salary range of Clooney, and he was also recently married. But he did miss my diagnosis, so I made him give me another percocet for lying to me…And my doctor (female) was helping me find men to flirt with and kept sending all possible single males in the hospital into my room. It was a fantastic experience.

Ironsos, you didn’t specify a species…

Ironsos, having a free NHS (although we all contribute to it through our wages) is what I try to keep thinking about in situations like today.

Wolfie, now I am in a dilemma, DS versus cake…..Actually, my daughter is a monster for cake, so neither of us would get a look in!

My doctor looked nothing like GC, more’s the pity, but he was very nice, and didn’t seem to mind that my GP, in referring me, had wasted his time as well as mine!!

I believe you were the first to mention The Book Thief, as in weeping on a train?? Credit where it’s due!

laura you have all the luck – you managed to find a good looking nurse. My sister works in the hospital and I have been on a few of her work nights out with various doctors and nurses and so far none of them have been lookers.

Asti I have just posted you a home made chocolate cake by owl post – now give up the DS and send him to me he he he he

BTW I am actually having a real life G&T for your birthday. Plus I am concerned about the Malaria risk I was exposed to in Barcelona last week. I think I had better take the appropriate precautions.

Preemptive strikes like that will save you, wolfie. I’m looking forward to my G&T as soon as I get home. Since I started my celebrations at 11am yesterday, I’ll try to wait until at least 4 or 5 today (whenever I decide to officially slack from work, rather than just slurk).

Sorry, asti, you’ll have to keep your DS, Herbert just intercepted the chocolate cake for me…
