Man, why do people always hate on Emma on here? And would she be the new Chanel darling if she wasn’t fashionable?

Wow. I’m sure they’ll correct me if I’m wrong, but something I’ve noticed about the really hardcore Rupert fans (at least the ones who comment here at Leaky) is that they seem to have a strong “Rupert Is The Best At Everything And Can Do No Wrong” attitude, and more often than not, it’s accompanied by an equally strong “Dan And Emma Suck At Everything And Can Do No Right” attitude.

I love Rupert, I really do. I could probably fill a small book, writing about all the things I like about him. And I do understand that a lot of his fans are frustrated that he’s sort of shunted to the side a lot when Dan and Emma are around.

But. That doesn’t mean we should have an unrealistic view of him, and shout about how he should receive honors which, I’m sorry, but which he frankly doesn’t really deserve. Now, I certainly think there are things that Rupert is better at than Dan and Emma are: being funny and making people comfortable, for a start. And I think he’s much more natural at comedic acting than Dan and especially Emma could ever hope to be. But I also think there are other things at which he’s not nearly as good as Dan and/or Emma are. And yes, I think fashion is one of them.

Some have argued that Rupert has his own sense of style. Well, I won’t argue with that. He does. But I will strongly argue that Rupert is not “stylish” in the sense that the compilers of that list obviously meant. He’s not especially fashion-conscious. He doesn’t seem to keep up with the latest trends. He doesn’t really take risks (on the contrary, he wears more or less the same outfit all the time). He doesn’t seem to put much thought into what he wears. Love Dan and Emma’s style or hate it, they do seem to pay attention to all those things. That doesn’t mean that Rupert’s fans can’t prefer the way he dresses (hey, I love the Chucks as much as anyone). But come on. He’s just not “stylish” in the same way that Dan and Emma are. He doesn’t belong on the list. I’m sorry, but he really doesn’t. Dan and Emma leave him in the dust in that respect.

I guess my bottom line is, Rupert doesn’t have to be the best at everything. It’s okay to let Dan and Emma be better at a few things without putting them down all the time and raising hell about how “poor Rupert” is always left out of things. As someone amusingly said earlier: “If Rupert made the list of sexiest redheads, should we all start boohooing about how unfair it is that Dan and Emma aren’t on the list?” We can all love Rupert, let’s just be realistic about it. He doesn’t have to win at every single thing.

Sorry for such a long post/lecture, but I’ve been feeling the need to say that for a while. :D

I’m not surprised Emma made the list. Emma is personally styled by Chanel and other labels. She should look put together,because someone MADE her look put together.

I think true style is coming up with your own looks, mixed and matched. Putting on exactly what the models in the ads wear isn’t very creative. Emma is a sweet girl though, and none of this is personal. (She’s one of my favorite actresses.) I just think that the best way to look at a star’s style is to look at what they wear outside of red carpet events. That’s when their true personalities and styles show.

I agree, Deana. Whenever I see people praising Emma (or any other star) for her style, I’m always thinking: “Um, no. That’s not her style. That’s her stylist’s style. You should be heaping all the praise on the person who schools her and dresses her.”

Not that Emma isn’t a nice girl and a decent dresser all on her own. But all this adulation about how well-dressed she is at red carpet events should really be directed at other people. For the most part, Emma probably wears whatever her stylist suggests.

EXACTLY! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that Emma made the list. But let’s face it, we’d ALL be super-stylish fashion plates if we had a team of professionals at Chanel telling us what to wear, like Emma does.

Dan really does look great in those suits, but he also looks great when he’s dressed casually. Love those jeans and Tshirts! But he could make anything look good!!!

Yay, congrats to Dan and Emma! I recently looked on imdb.com and it looks like she might play Princess Pea in the tale of Despereaux! I may be wrong but thats what’s on the site!

I really had hoped the Rupert Fans won’t come whining again that Rupert’s not on this list but it seems that fanaticism doesn’t know it’s limits. I mean, come on! Rupert doesn’t have any sense of style at all so why expect him to be on any stylish list? He’s not trendy cause the shirt and baggy jeans ensemble has been here since … forever. And while other stars manage to look cool and stylish when putting on a jacket over a shirt, Rupert still looks like your casual laid back hobo even when wearing a dinner jacket. he doesn’t want to be stylish and trendy and doesn’t go around wearing designer clothes. Why expect him to be on this list?

But on second thought, Dan also doesn’t go around wearing designer clothes Or attend fashion events. He just wears a suit like evrybody else. But of course, the kid does look sophisiticated and dapper in those formal suits so that must be the reason why he’s on this list. It’s not the clothes that count but how you wear it. But come to think of it, Emma Watson goes around wearing designer clothes, is very visible in fashion events but only gets it right half the time. That pic doesn’t do that dress justice. ehh, let’s leave it to the fashionistas. I’m no fashion guru.

Emma Kelly, while i agree with a lot of what you say, i hate to burst your bubble but according to reporters and set visitors, it seems to be Dan that puts people to ease the most and is the funniest guy on set. Acting wise, neither has seen their comedic chops put to the test, though there seem to be tons of people who saw the Extras episode Dan did and just loved it. It also happens to be that particularr episode that gets nominated the most for awards :D . As for the stylist awards, yeah Dan rates, seeing as I have seen requests for his suits like his in the papers and on the web. They may have picked him out for his taste in suits and ties, but i like his sweaters and regular clothes too. Incidentally, he was the only one to wear his own clothes in that teenager issue of that Teen Cosmo? shoot done for the second or third movie. That’s our Dan!

Well, if reporters and set visitors say it, it must be undeniably true! ;)

Seriously, though, I’d rather go by what I’ve personally observed from interviews, and seeing them do red carpets, than going by second-hand accounts from set visitors. And from what I’ve seen, Rupert just seems more funny and laid back, and the interviewers and/or fans who are talking to him, seem to respond to that by relaxing themselves. I’m not saying Dan doesn’t make people feel at ease, too, just that in my own observation, Rupert is even better at it. He does it effortlessly, simply by being himself. It’s just my opinion.

As for the comedic acting, I disagree that we haven’t seen either of them put to the test. They’ve both had plenty of funny moments in the HP movies, and I just feel that Rupert is the more natural comic actor of the two (though I definitely feel that Dan is the better actor overall).

Oh and (leans in and whispers) that whole thing about how Rupert doesn’t have to be the best at everything? Well, it kind of goes both ways. It’s okay to admit that Dan might not be quite as good as Rupert at certain things, too. ;)

I hope that feeling didn’t come from what I said as well. I just go for what I know. I admit, I do follow Rupert more often than the other two, but I don’t think one is BETTER and any of the others. Again, I’m not worried or “crying” about this one.

NOW, if HBP comes out and Rupert/Ron kicks behind and he doesn’t get recognized THEN,......I might go “there.”

Heck, I thought I was agreeing that Rupert wasn’t the type to be on this list, because he is not the fashionista (do they have a guy equivalent name for this?) type.

The reason why I’m even commenting on the subject is because I like to make comments about things, but because there is no REAL NEWS to SPEAK OF, I’m forced (due to lack of nothing else to talk about) to interact on this subject matter.

Believe me, if WB wasn’t holding my fandom hostage, I wouldn’t bother posting on such matters.

Don’t worry, I’m not bitter or anything, I just want news SO BAD, I’m tired of news reports about rumors, and the Rupert vs. Dan vs. Emma stuff.

I keep saying if we have REAL stuff to talk about, non of the CRAP won’t matter. Sure, it will be there, but just as a minor distraction used to take a break from some GOOD stuff.

Here’s hoping for REAL pictures or videos of Ron in his Quidditch robes.

Radcakesfan no one is saying Rupert is better then Dan, in fact most of us Rupert fans do actually like the other cast members! It seems to me that just because someone said Rupe may be funnier then Dan (although not a better actor) you had to jump straight in there, being in my personal opinion a little condesending ‘I hate to burst your bubble’. Please, why do you even care? They are two completely different personalities and to a casual observer Rupert does appear quite funny…he has a ice cream van! But as you insisted I am sure Dan is funny too (rolls eyes)!
