According to United Agents, a literary and talent agency in the UK, actress Suzanne Toase has been cast in the part of Alecto Carrow for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The website indicates she is currently filming her scenes as one of the Carrows, the brother and sister Death Eaters who take part in the dramatic events at Hogwarts which occur at the end of the book.

On a related note, on this same website, there is a new photo of actress Jessie Cave, who portrays Lavender Brown in “Half-Blood Prince.”

Ava, not necessarily. That description of Dean Thomas as black is not in the UK edition for example. But when they first cast him apparently they chose a white boy, and Jo told them to recast. So I assume that she would say if the casting was ever wrong to that extent. The only people described as black in the UK edition (as far as I can remember) are Blaise Zabini and Kingsley Shacklebolt. There’s a hint that Angelina Johnson is black from something Pansy Parkinson says but I don’t quite remember it being specific.

Claire, I remember thinking the same thing. I don’t know why I thought Lavender Brown was black; but, I was certain that she was. At least that’s how I had pictured her in my mind.

But Suzanne should be awesome as Alecto! She looks perfect.

Oh, I did not know that…I thought that the US and the UK books were pretty similar… Maybe I’ll try and get my hands on the UK versions, I would absolutely love to read them! Thanks, Anne.

Gr8. Although I gotta admit, I don’t remember them from the books. Lol, hehe, hope it’ll be good.

I imagine Lavender is fairly pretty based on the way she acts and the way people act around her in the books. I did imagine her as blonde! I thought Alecto would be just hideous, but I suppose they can’t really cast someone like that. It would be an insult to the actress.

Ralph Ineson plays amycus carrow. (imdb.com)

I never imagined Lavender like Jessie, but then they can’t please everyone( I am one of the people who pictured Lavender Brown as darker skinned. I saw her as an older version on Lavender from Matilda). I reckon she’ll do a good job, which is what is important. Alecto and Amycus look brilliant, I can picture them looking very evil. Especially Suzanne Toase, she’ll look fantastic as Alecto.

I think Jesse is a little too pretty for the part. I always imagined Lavender a little plumper, and not so sweet looking you know? The way she is described is kind of like an annoying fly that wont go away so for her to be really pretty i think takes away from that… But make-up does wonders

Live, Love Harry Potter!!

Peoples who think that Lavender Brown should be black , that is because some African – American girl had a cameo as her in the POA and now everyone thinks thats canon of the character- really though Jo never describes Lav’s appearance to us. I like Suzanne as Alecto, Bella is no longer the only female death eater. She does have a very strong resemblance to Umbridge so maybe that is a good sign she’ll be evil. I really like that they are putting in as many characters as they can for this one, it seems as though they are trying harder or something. I have never been disappointed with a casting so far- all I have to say is once they are cast keep the same person, unless they die- RIP Richard Harris. And yes get Bill Nighy out there to play Scrimgeour.

Oh my god Jessie is soo pretty. =]

I don’t really like who they got for Alecto though… she seems sorta fat.. and how I pictured her is waaayyy different… I really wanna know who they got for Amycus. that IS how you spell his name right..? and OMG can you believe she used to play Dorethy in the Wizard of Oz? She changed soo much!!! haha. wow. XP

this actress looks great as alecto, i think she’ll pull the look off really well, i couldn’t help but notice she’s only credited in theatre roles up until this point… maybe a film role just hasn’t come up until this point?? i think her eyes are perfect, didn’t jo describe them as little beady eyes?

jessie looks pretty in that photo!

The books never state what colour Lavender is, in fact, I pretty much imagined her to look a bit like Jessie… but not as gorgeous as Jessie. The girl who played Lavender in the third film was black.

As for Toase, she looks like she’ll make a good Alecto

I think Alecto would look a little more ugly and mean… I think Lavender might look a little stupider though, she’s pretty but doesnt fit the role.

Jessie Cave is such a pretty girl. I’m amused by the comment that she doesn’t look stupid enough, LOL. I don’t think of Lavender as stupid. She’s silly and boy-crazy, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to dumb. And even if Lavender IS meant to be stupid, Ms. Cave is a professional actress; I’m sure she can pull it off “stupid”, however smart she may look in that photo. ;)

I’m glad they’ve cast Alecto Carrow as well. And I’m SO happy to be getting some HBP news.

I clicked on the link for Suzanne Toase and I could think of was – WOW! Those eyes! If she can deliver on screen what she shows in that photo, she is going to be dead on as Alecto.

I thought JK described Lavender as blonde at one point. I always imagined her that way, with sort of dark blonde hair contrasting alot with BFF Parvati.
