Hey Leaky, how about a fan contest to see who can make the best Fan Teaser poster for HBP? It’s looking more and more likely that we won’t see anything until the teaser trailer is released.

wow that is definitly fake you can tell because his head looks foto shopped, and his robes are a bit too red

:snickersnort: I know, I had the same reaction. Flames and smoke and battle and destruction?! Why, surely that’s never ever EVER happened during any Harry Potter book, and certainly not in HBP! :p
I tend to agree with those who’ve said the poster is fake, but not necessarily the picture. I just hope we get some Official Images soon. C’mon WB!

Just think about it logically – why would a yarn company have the first promo poster. It just seems to be such a strange match-up – Harry Potter and yarn? It is for the little House Elf hats that Hermione keeps knitting (and I’m blanking here because the movies screwed with that whole thing anyway – was that a plot in Ootp or HBP)?

i agree with Professor Potter. it looks like someone pasted a picture of harry from OOTP in front of a new background.

It’s not a fake picture, it’s a fake promotional poster, because it is not a promotional poster! it’s the Harry Potter themed yarn. Look here: http://www.oclumencia.com.br/galeria/displayimage.php?pid=6218&fullsize=1 is a high res pic where you can discern the different styles with harry potter character’s faces on them. It is another HP franchise-themed product.

I think he looks a little older than in the OotP shots, but the pose is getting a bit boring. But, I’m not one to complain bcz I like any pose as long as the picture is of Dan/Harry. I think the poster is a fake but a new pic.

Not a poster (though the site that is linked doesn’t call it a poster to begin with), but pretty clearly not a fake. That is a brand new pic of Harry – you can tell, as usual, from the hair. And the hi-res version that others have mentioned above includes what appears to be pretty obviously new pictures of Ron, Dumbledore, and Draco.

You know, I wish WB would stop outrright LYING to us and telling us things are fanmade…I remeber several posters from The OOTP era being labeled as made by fans, and they now are being sold at several national music stores and such.WB insigna and all.
The fact that there are never before seen pics of ron, draco and dumbledore on those little balls of yarn tell me otherwise. I say its legit, and they just wern’t expecting this leak so soon.
but seriously…YARN? oh lord.

I don’t understand any of this, and I especially don’t understand why someone (WB?) is tyring to sell HP yarn.

THE TEASER-POSTER: http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/3199/postercc4.jpg

I have to say, it is looking more and more like the WB has been caught in a fib. Well, not technically a fib: They did only say that it wasn’t an official poster, which it obviously isn’t. But they were still obviously trying to misdirect us.
Regarding the bad photoshopping of the pic: I agree that it’s very poorly done, but it’s not enough to convince me that the picture is fake. Remember that pic that came out several months ago of Ginny/Bonnie riding a broom? When I first saw it, I was certain that it had to be fake, because it just looked like a really bad fan manip. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it was really an enlarged picture of Ginny taken directly from the back cover of the OotP DVD!!! My mind, it boggled.
So the bottom line is that the WB isn’t above putting a badly photoshopped pic out there. The fact alone that it’s poorly done isn’t enough to convince me it’s fake.

The spelling on the poster is wrong…LOL…and the fact that the pose is the same as in OotP. There’s nothing wrong with the hair, it’s the same hair as in the HBP official picture Leaky recieved, but they could very well have used the OotP picture and just superimposed the head and put it in a new background! It’s definitely fake!

Ok, I just realised that it’s actually in German. But it still looks a bit strange. And I agree with people who’ve wondered why WB would give this promotional picture to a Yarn Co.? It doesn’t make sense. I still think it looks fake…

I doubt it. I agree that the stances are very similar, but they’ve had Dan pose in that same basic stance in official promo shots for at least three previous movies (CoS, GoF, and OotP). The marketing department at WB seems to really, really like that particular pose (either that, or they’re just not very creative). So it’s not like they make it a point to have Dan posing in a completely different way every time. Just because they used that stance for OotP promos doesn’t mean they’re not going to use it for HBP promos, too.
Also, here are the official promos from OotP, where Dan is in this similar pose:

As you can see, the poses are similar, but clearly not the same. His body position is markedly different in certain ways.
I say it’s real.

Heh. I’ll admit that my first reaction was, “Yarn? YARN?! Eh buh wha?” LOL.
But the WB sends out promo material to all different kinds of companies to incorporate into their own advertising. My guess is that Opal Yarn simply set out their promo display before they were supposed to, it was spotted by an HP fan who wasn’t supposed to see it, and WB is now trying to cover.

well its already confirmed a fake, but there’s nothing about that photo that says “new” or “oops you werent supposed to have seen that yet”. i saw the same photo in one of the latter OOTP promo releases but this has obviously been tweaked a bit. this is what some people in the industry would call a “frankenstein” where they take one photo of an actor and manip it with another photo of his, coming up with a “new” image but in truth its just two old photos tweaked together.

Does anyone else think it’s odd that in the picture here…
http://www.wolle-grotz.de/seite213-Dateien/image001.jpg
...NONE of the pictures on the skeins of yarn are of the female characters? No Hermione, who is a third of the Trio? No Ginny, who is Harry’s love interest and future wife? No Lavender, who from the sounds of it spends half the movie with her face attached to Ron’s? No girls at all. (Well, there IS Hedwig, but you know what I mean.) And yet Harry and Ron both get two pictures each. Even the owl gets a skein… but not Hermione!?
I’m torn about whether or not the picture is fake. I know WB has denied it, but I have a feeling they’re fudging things a bit. The picture IS badly PSed, but… I dunno… it looks enough like the pics of Dan we’ve seen so far in other HBP pictures that I can believe it’s a new and genuine pic.
But the fact that NONE of the skeins feature pictures of female characters makes me wonder. It just seems so odd. It makes me think that, if it is indeed a fake, it was perhaps created by someone who is a big fan of Harry, Ron, and Draco, and didn’t want to bother with the girls. ;)
Eh, I just don’t know.

I have to disagree with those saying it is the same image as from OotP. I work with these images EVERY DAY and I guarantee you it is not. Also, as a fair photo-manipulator, I don’t think it looks like an OotP image that has been “aged”. For one thing, why? I stand by my “oops, you weren’t supposed to see that yet” stance. Also—this is NOT a poster, but a stand-alone promo for a product tie-in. We saw tons of them for OotP.
Regarding the flames and smoke, I seem to recall kind of a big battle and conflagration at Hogwarts near the end of HBP. :D
