Over the weekend, Collectormania was held in Milton Keynes in England, where actress Natalia Tena took part in an autograph session with fans. Emma, from the Snitchseeker, was able to speak to the actress about her role in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. According to the report, Natalia Tena says her character Tonks “was only on set for the part where Death Eaters attack the Burrow at Christmas (where Harry & Weasleys are present). She said that none of the angst of her character is there – indeed, she and Lupin are just suddenly a couple when they meet there.”

The actress goes on to give a few thoughts as well about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” and what happens to Tonks during the book, with Tena noting in the film version, she ” would love to have to ride a broom with a pregnant belly.”

Thanks to Snitchseeker for mailing!

Oh my god, I predicted Tonks/Lupin before ANYONE else I knew, and I love the couple! Sad that they aren’t included more though, because then no-one who hasn’t read the books will care much when they die :( Am very intruiged to see how this added Death Eaters attacking the Burrow at Christmas scene works out. I hope it doesn’t stick out as a non-book scene, rather than being a great creative addition.

Thats weird that the only scene Tonks will be in is Christamas at the Burrow when she didn’t even spend Christmas w/ them in 6. Won’t non book readers be confused in Hallows when Lupins all of the sudden tries to leave her and the baby? or will they cut that out too? They can’t cut Dumbledore’s funeral! thats a big deal

People should just stop complaining. No one would care if Tonks was sad movie-wise. I mean, why give her a subplot in the movie when she’s not even one of the central characters?

I honestly have to admit I wasn’t surprised by this. As interesting as the development of their relationship is in the book, it would become too much of an unnecessary burden in the visual medium to address. Just introducing them as a couple would probably work best, sadly.

Hopefully the attentive scripts for the Deathly Hallow films will remedy any lack of engagement on the part of the audience in their relationship, so that their deaths at the conclusion of that novel are as upsetting as they would be otherwise.

They could have cut Lupin and Tonks out entirely if they wanted. The only thing that’s remotely important in this book is the fact that they’re in love. They are establishing that here so that it’ll all make sense in the next two movies. In other words good job WB on keeping only what is needed and getting rid of the fat.

Its probably the easiest thing to cut down in the books. Their relationship is a sudden surprise to Harry and the Trio…so its not out of place. Its just that we dont see her moaping about. Probably a good thing, as shes never really had her cheerful fun side established, so movie goer’s view of her would be someone easily angered and sad.

I thought that her character was moore in the book. If she’s going to be only in one scene that’s really messed up. Tonks is in moore of HBP then she was in Order of the Phoenix. Oh and by the way I wonder if they’re going to show the rude hand gestures.

NO WAY!!! I wanted the whole story, because it’s a damn good one. Why do they always have to cut out Tonks?? The Tonks and Remus stuff are mye favourite parts of the HP books, and none of that will be in the movies!!! Now im upset! what If they do this with them i DH too?

I know that it is hard to condense such a large book and put it on screen. But when you make things up that has nothing to do with the book, well it gets a little disappointing.

If Tonks and Lupin are going to be a couple almost immediately, then that may mean that they are going to cut the scene with Bill in the hospital or least it might be someone other than Bill who was injured. I really don’t think that Bill is going to be in the movie at all especially since it appears that Fleur isn’t going to be in it. Which leaves the whole wedding in the DH movie kinda awkward from the viewpoint of the people who haven’t read the books (at least I think that it would seem kinda weird). It would give the impression that Harry and Hermione are at the wedding because they are Ron’s friends not because they know Bill and Fleur. I was dissappointed when Sirius was in only one scene in GOF, Iwas dissappointed even more when you hardly had any scenes or interaction with Lupin, Tonks, Kingsley, etc. in OOTP. I’m dissappointed with HBP already. I think that Tonks is a cool character and should be seen more in the movies (along with Lupin, Bill, Fleur, etc.) And seriously, the only attack at the Burrow at Christmas should be Percy being pelted with mashed parsnips. All this makes me wonder how long this movie is going to be and what is going to be cut from DH.

is the funeral out or in??

I could care less about the Tonks stuff- so long as she and Lupin are together.

It irks me that the point of the WHOLE series is LOVE CONQUERS ALL. And they cut out the relationships that are pivotal plots in the 7th. How are they getting around that??

They cut DUMBLEDORE’S FUNERAL?!

This means that some of the best lines between the characters will be cut. Ginny and Harry’s breakup will be nothing like it should be!! That will make me VERY pissed if they don’t have Ginny’s last lines in the book. I am so tired of Kloves cutting lines from the Weasleys!!

Ummmmm….... Since when did the Death Eaters attack the Burrow? They never attacked there. The only people that came to the Burrow that book is the Minister and he was never a Death Eater (nor Percy). I have always felt that The Burrow and the Weasley family is there to be the “model” home and family. Harry and others who have suffered are compared, I guess, in my eyes as to the Weasleys of what they don’t have. I think that having the Death Eaters attack destroys that Paradise of that.

As for the Remus-Tonks thing…. they’re gonna die in a year or so, you might as well give them more time together. Plus, I’m gonna miss the hints and teasers and the final outburst of Tonks at the end of HBP.

Why the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks are they NOT going to film/show Dumbledore’s Funeral for HBP? Like Lolly, I cried when I read it and it helps push the plot along and show characters’ feelings and emotionstoward Dumbledore and each other.

One random idiot writes (makes up some nonsense) about the the funeral not being in it and everyone suddenly thinks this is a fact. How stupid are you poeple?

nooo! Tonks and Remus are my favourite couple in the series, they’re so cute it’s a shame their story has been cut.

Oh well I know this is a fansite but some (read: a lot) poeple are so crazy about their Harry Potter that they can’t think straight anymore. The filmmakers never do anything without good reason and they’re most certainly not stupid. You poeple should be glad there’s a scene in here which establishes the fact that they’re in love because means that they ARE going to go into their relationship in the next two movies.

Re: Dumbledore’s funeral, I agree we shouldn’t take it as gospel that it’s been cut. The poster might have misunderstood or Nat might have had her facts wrong…or they could change their minds. I just find it very hard to believe they would cut that, but it’s hard to put much past them, I know. I don’t know that they would film much of the eulogy or the service proper, but I would think they would at least show it briefly. I think I remember reading about their filming Hagrid carrying Dumbledore, etc. Either way, I do feel sure they’ll do the Harry/Ginny break-up justice and the movie will end with Ron and Hermione telling Harry they’re going with him. If Scrimgeour is cut, I just hope they find SOMEONE for Harry to tell that he’s Dumbledore’s man through and through!
