Over the weekend, Collectormania was held in Milton Keynes in England, where actress Natalia Tena took part in an autograph session with fans. Emma, from the Snitchseeker, was able to speak to the actress about her role in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. According to the report, Natalia Tena says her character Tonks “was only on set for the part where Death Eaters attack the Burrow at Christmas (where Harry & Weasleys are present). She said that none of the angst of her character is there – indeed, she and Lupin are just suddenly a couple when they meet there.”

The actress goes on to give a few thoughts as well about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” and what happens to Tonks during the book, with Tena noting in the film version, she ” would love to have to ride a broom with a pregnant belly.”

Thanks to Snitchseeker for mailing!

“I still really hope they don’t exchange Bill and Fleur for Lupin and Tonks come Deathly Hallows time” – Kiwi Mc I

I agree! I am glad they are going to show Lupin and Tonks together. Them asking Harry to be godfather was a big deal (I think) and something that should not be forgotten in the movie…I hope anyway! Ha-ha.

I can’t wait for the movie!!

They are gonna film the DD funeral, it’s just not gonna be shown in HBP.

They’ll show DD’s death & Harry-chasing-Snape n’ all. The OotP McGonagall Hagrid scene is being transplanted here. McG will get stunned by Death Eaters instead of Ministry people. Then Hagrid will physically throw about the Carrows & won’t “get caught”.

Post-this, we’ll be doing a rushed hospital scene, with emphasis on how they have to save the living character’s lives first, even though DD is dead.

After this Harry will talk with Ron & Hermione about “the mission”. Movie ends…

The Deathly Hallows Part 1 will open with DD’s funeral ceremony. Then the trio will part. We’ll see Harry visit the Dursleys for a week to finish the charm & convince them to leave. Then the story continues as in Book 7. They are trying to emphasize the idea that after the gigantic showdown in the OotP climax, Voldemort & the Ministry, the Order all move very fast. Truth be told, in the books, an awful lot of time seemed to pass after end of OotP (more than a year) before drastic things happened. The build-up in the movies cannot be done the same way as it would seem anti-climactic.

The idea right now is to give a bit more material to movie 7’s two parts. That way, part 1 won’t seem like nothing happens in it & part 2 can still be packed with fast action & a constant pace.

The story that’s going to be “mutilated” is HBP. I say mutilated, but I mean massively altered. Yes, all the basics are there, but, the team is taking huge creative license with the story to pull parts of book 5 that didn’t fit properly in movie 5. Quidditch was brought in, among other things to somewhat lighten the mood of most of HBP. The thinking behind this is to provide a “brief respite” between the darkness that started at the end of GoF through OotP and will completely shroud the two DH movies. movie 6 will also add small scenes/ alter the story in order to make some things in DH that aren’t well explained by movies 1 through 5 easier to digest. Thus we are to see more Dobby.

However, one thing is going to go very against the grain of this idea. The Gaunts’s role is heavily cut. This was done to reduce the “adult” darkness of how Voldemort was conceived & to remove any reason to include the key “sl*t” word used by Morfin. Without some of this toning down, the movie was headed for R-rating (what with the Sectumsempra scene & tDraco bloody-ing up Harry on the train scenes still being in it)

I hope they don’t try for a PG-13 with Hallows. I would hate not to see Nagini burst out of Bathilda (even though it’s disgusting, we need this visual. While in the book, we can read about the smell & imagine how disgusting it is, smell cannot be conveyed effectively in the movie) I also want to the “horcrux-baby” at King’s Cross, Hermione being tortured, etc. AND NO I’m not a sadist. It needs to be there to be effective.

I have some more ideas about the proposed filming schedule for DH 1 & 2 and why 1 is coming in Nov 2010 not July

mmhh..I’m pretty sad about this cut..but I’m not so suprised, Tonks’ scenes were very little in OoTP so the intention to make her as a very secondary character was quite clear…:( I know books and movies are always different but Lupin/Tonks troubled relation was one of my favorite things in the books, it’s a pity I’ll never see anything of that on screen!

Get. Over. It.

They can’t make 10 hour movies. They are on a budget and only have a certain amount of time.

plus; If you always want the movies to follow the books, there will be no more reading, and nothing left to the imagination….

I hate it when people get upset when they switch things around. They aren’t cutting anything from the 7th movie, be grateful about that….

I remember Prisoner of Azakabn, they made that all twisted, but it wond up being one of the best ones.

So if any of your friends start complaining, slap them and say, you might as well not read any of the books for all the imagination you have.

So “I I” – is this just hypothesising on your part, or do you have some basis for this? Your post is pretty detailed. I actually kind of like it. (and I think I’m going to scream is one more person writes “the burrow wasn’t attacked in HBP . . . blah, blah, blah – read the comments or don’t post!!).

I’m kinda upset about this, but I’m basically just happy that RL/NT is in there at all tbh. Seriously though, they CAN’T leave Teddy out in DH! He was one of the main reasons JKR wrote the damn Epilogue, to show that he was alright!

BTW, hehe, I KNEW that the Ginny/Harry shippers would worm their way in somehow….

I’m sad about the uncomplicated Tonks/Lupin-ness of it all. I love that story line. But I am so pleased to have my lovely little home of Milton Keynes mentioned on Leaky! I was indeed at collectormania and it was great!

Am I the only person confused as to why there is a scene in HBP where death eaters attack the Burrow. If I recall correctly, there is no attack in the book, only Percy and Scrimgeour showing up at dinner. I don’t get to read things that often so maybe I missed something.

Besides, Tonks doesn’t even go to the Burrow for Christmas. Remember when Mrs. Weasley says that she tried to get her to come but she refused.

It really irritates me sometimes that the movies don’t follow the books as closely as I would like them to.

I hate this “news”. It doesnt add up to things I have read the past months. Even nat herself has said she’d be having brown hair and be sad. And they’re not cutting the funeral. That’s too stupid. Even those moviemakers cant be that idiotic and think the fans is going along with that just fine?? And common we know that the movies cant be like the movies 100%, but there is posibility to make it true to it and follow it better then this movie obviously seem to be doing. One scene? Why wouldnt Tonks be on the train scene when its in the movie damnit? Makes no sense at all!!

But Teddy isnt a problem… yet… Because Remus and Tonks are together appearently and well… that’s whats needed for Teddy obviously :P

I agree that this is a good decision. I liked reading about Tonks and Lupin, but I don’t think I’d like watching it.

And now I’m really confused what will happen with the wedding in DH. We’re almost sure Bill and Fleur are out for the remainder of the series, and for all we know, Tonks and Lupin are as together as they’re going to get. They can’t skip the wedding, because it’s such an exciting scene with both spectacle and humor to it. Tough to say….

when does this happen? I recall percy and th eminister being at the burrow, but death eaters? I understand the need to cut some stuff, but adding that in is annoying. I also can’t believe they are taking out the funeral, Dumbledore’s death really hurts and this is the most emotional part of the story thus far, it’s where the sense of hopelessness comes from, how will they conclude the movie then?

I’m so disappointed with this, and not just because I’m a huge R/T shipper. Nearly every time I’ve seen OOTP, it’s been with someone who didn’t read the books, and they asked me every five minutes either who someone was, or what was going on. I can just imagine their confusion at Remus and Tonks randomly being a couple. I mean, it may distract them from something else happening. I know for a fact that my dad-who waits for the movies-missed about two crucial scenes of OOTP because I had to explain so much to him.
