I don’t think this situation is a which are better books Happy Potter or Twilight. I haven’t read the Twilight books ,for all I know they could be great,This is about THE film and this film looks boring no matter how good the books might well be.It doesn’t make me want to read the books, though I had wanted to until i saw this trailer, and I LOVE Vampire stories. If there are HP fans who think that Twilight is better than they must have forgotten how invredible the HP books are, sad.

I agree with Cristipotter’s assessment that these two series should not really be compared, as the stories are completely different. Twilight is fun to read – I think it is highly addictive, and I attribute much of that to the character of Edward, who one could regard as the “perfect guy,” like a modern-day Mr. Darcy. But I think the story in Harry Potter is so much more complex. Jo created her world over 17 years, and her story has so many connections and minute details that turn out to be important in the end, and that are necessary to making sense of the story overall. On the other hand, Twilight is much like the article stated – a whir of emotions that Bella is feeling at a particular point in time, with an action scene at the end of the book. Both series have fantastical creatures in them, but other than that, I don’t think there is much basis for a comparison between the two. Check out Twilight, if you wish, though. I have found it to be an entertaining distraction from schoolwork. But even taking Edward into account, Harry will always be number one in my heart!

I wish people would give Twilight a break. It’s a great book to get lost in and to be honest, I was more swept up Eclipse than DH. OMG! Figuring in the fact that I’m a college student about to graduate, that goes to show it isn’t just a book for a bunch of “16 year old girls.”

I will always love HP and Rowling’s story telling technique. I love Stephenie Meyer and her books. Why can’t both just exist and not it be a battle of which book is better? I hear the same argument HP fans are using at the Twilight Forum and honestly it’s quite immature. It’s almost like every female in a rock band being compared to Evanescence because it’s a chick singing rock music.

If you don’t like the book, fine. Don’t ruin it for other people because you don’t enjoy it. I didn’t particularly enjoy my AP English teacher banning us from talking about HP in her Lit class, but I wasn’t complaining.

And to the person complaining about their being an article here about Twilight in the first place, Robert was in HP. All the actors in HP get some sort of follow-up about a new movie they’re making. It’s not new.

Rebecca, calm down a bit. It’s just surprising because we don’t see much news about Dr. Who, Sweeney Todd, or so on here in Leaky, and the attention Twilight is getting is, well, surprising. Personally, I was surprised.

Wow, I used the word ‘surprise’ a lot, didn’t I ?

@ Rebecca: Yes, followups are usually given when an HP actor makes a new movie. And you know what? I don’t think those articles should be put on Leaky, either. (gasp) I can understand it if it’s a new movie with Dan, Rupert, or Emma, since they’re the three main actors. Anybody else… not so much. Especially not an actor who only played a secondary character in only one of the movies, as Robert Pattinson has done. I mean, he’s not even a regular character in the series.

Oh, and another thing: People saying they don’t like Twilight is not “ruining it for everyone else”. It’s really silly to say that it is, to be frank. You’re basically saying that no one, anywhere, is ever allowed to say they don’t like Twilight because ZOMG THEY’VE RUINED THE FUN FOR YOU!!! If you’re enjoyment of Twilight is dependent on no one ever saying anything bad about it, well, that’s kind of sad.

I’m a huge fan of both Harry Potter and Twilight; loving Twilight almost as much as I Love Harry Potter.

But I’m kind of worried after watching the Twilight trailer. I’m afraid that they may ruin the movie like they did with the Eragon movie, which most will agree was a disaster.

I’ve read the books like a million times and, idk, maybe I’m overreacting over a short thirty second segment, but there seemed to be some scenes that weren’t in the book.

Am I the only one worried that the Twilight movie may go the same way as the Eragon movie did?

And I seriously don’t see that good of a connection between Harry Potter and Twilight, other then the movie having Robert Pattinson in it.

Rebecca: My comment was not meant to be a slur on Twilight (I have no opinion, as I’ve read none of the books and probably won’t see the movie). It was simply an expression of surprise that such a long, detailed article would be devoted to a movie that is connected to HP in only the very loosest way. And yes, follow-ups on new movies featuring HP actors is nothing new on Leaky, but Twilight has been given (in my view) an unprecedented amount of attention. I can understand devoting this much space to a movie featuring Dan, Rupert, or Emma, as they’re the three main actors. Robert Pattinson, however, was only in one of the movies, and he played only a second-tier (arguably even a third-tier) character. So yeah, all the attention given to Twilight just because it has Robert Pattinson in it strikes me as odd.

Also, while you’re certainly entitled to love and defend Twilight, it’s really unfair of you to demand that those who don’t like it should never say so because they’re “ruining it for everyone else.” Everyone is allowed to express their opinion, and you shouldn’t allow the opinions of others spoil your fun.

(Oh, and I still love Leaky no matter how much I complain!)

In short, as CristiPotter said, calm down a bit.

Rebecca: Um yes, comparing “Twilight” to HP is pointless. But “Twilight” is still bad, as I said. If you’re a romantic, you might like “Twilight.” I guess.

And I agree a “Twilight” newsroundup is unecessary. I don’t mind telling us that Pattinson has been cast in “Twilight,” but followups on it are pointless. Besides, I’d like to avoid hearing about “Twilight” as much as possible.

I read that she wrote the book in only 3 MONTHS!

3 MONTHS!!!???

That’s not even enough time to start outlining the series.

Oh, believe me. I wasn’t getting upset or anything. I’ve actually made the same argument about HP with a few other friends when they’ve railed on me about liking it. I just hate people tearing down books without a lot of reasoning behind it. If you have it, sure go right ahead but lately it’s been mostly eye-rolling seeing all these rude comments aimed to Twilight for no apparent reason. Sorry if I sounded a little unreasonable (I’m going through Finals right now so I’m sort of stressed), I just wanted to make an observation. Hope I didn’t offend anyone.

Twilight is a joke compared to HP. Terrible writing. I have no idea why these books are so popular.

I”m horribly addicted to these books even more than the past 7years I’ve been addicted to Harry Potter.

If you think its cheesy from that quote just read the book! Its intoxicating and it definitely won’t let you put it down! Before you judge please read it, I nearly guarantee you will love it!

P.s. The only reason its really compared is most HP fans are fans of Twilight as well.
