To me, only the Dobby death was more emotional in the books, probably due to the unexpectedness of it and how senseless it was – all the other deaths were kind of in the line of fire. I thought they did a really good job with Cedric’s father in the movie – I could really feel his agony.

Cedric’s death and Harry clutching his body when they are back at Hogwarts is truly gut wrenching and really depicts the true horror of Voldemort. The scene definitely deserves to be on this list!

you know this film is the one i thought dealt with the emotional impact the least well. its great the movie got recognized, but i thought, i don’t know – maybe it was the score which seemed to cliched – it just seemed like the only great part was when cedrics fafther was in such agony like kirty said. that was brilliant…in the bad kind of way.

I don’t think his actual death scene is that sad. I think his father’s reaction to his death and then Dumbledore’s eulogy for him are where we really see the emotional impact of it. That darn eulogy makes me want to cry every time I see the movie. That’s why I think Cedric’s death is more sad than Sirius’s death in OotP because with Sirius’s death there is no aftermath in the movie, there is not really much of a reaction to his death. That doesn’t make it less sad, it just makes it have less emotional impact in the film in my opinion than Cedric’s death has. I would have liked them to keep the scene from the book where Harry talks to Nearly Headless Nick about Sirius’s death. That’s where we really see Harry’s pain.

Hey Moderators: I think this posting should contain a warning as the link to the Online 25 list connects to some truly gruesome images and descriptions.

I loved how they did that death scene, it makes me cry almost every time I see it. It wasn’t Cedric’s actual death that had an emotional impact becaues I expected it because I had read the books ( of course ) But it was his fathers reaction, I’m welling up with tears just thinking about it. It was gut wrenching. Seeing what they did for his death I REALLY REALLY hope they do Dobby’s death justice.

Hey but- this isn’t clear. Does it refer to the movie scene or to the book scene? Because there is a WORLD of difference !!!

When reading the books for the first time, I was up to this point, absolutely entranced, entertained and thrilled. But when I reached the cold dead eyes of Cedric, I was in shock and denial, I was like “wh..wh…what just happened? children cant die in these books!” I was really liking Cedric too. So that was the first time I felt that no one was safe, not even our hero Harry.

Filmwise, it was still sad to see Cedric’s death and no matter how much you prepare for the moment, its still hits you hard. But the most heart wrenching moment was “Thats my boy”. This death is justifiably in the top 25 somply becasue it was totally unexpected and very very hellish for a children’s film.

The film’s death scene was decent but not too remarkable.

I’m so glad this scene got in the top 25 … like people have said, it’s the bit when Harry and Cedric’s body arrive back in Hogwarts and Amos Diggory appears .. “that’s my boy” Aah, that scene brings tears to my eyes. :( So beautifully done, great music, great acting. Amazing.

It’s the reaction when they get back which is awful. From Fleur’s scream onwards :(

The whole scene and afterwards was emotional, the way it should’ve have been. To me it captured the sprirt of of the words in book. Unlike the passing of Sirus and afterwards in OotP, which was so emotionless and fake. Great scene.
